I had never been to Blackpool before. You Tube is full of videos about it - why it's terrible, one of the worst places in the UK, a destitute dump? I wanted to find out for myself. Honestly I was a bit nervous making this video, as a solo female traveller some of the stuff I had read made this trip seem like a really bad idea ... was I surprised?
I was only supposed to be on a day trip but the weather came in and I had to make the last minute decision to stay over night. Another first for me. I haven't talked about the place I stayed here - that video has annoyed enough people already (haha). It was a shame the weather was so terrible because I really didn't get to do everything I wanted to do - also Blackpool is PUMPING with copywrite music - omg ..!!

As with all seaside towns with spare accommodation, they get filled with undesirables. Such a shame as at night it makes the places feel unsafe and Blackpool has suffered as badly as anywhere. But objectively as a place it has three piers, miles of sandy beaches, the the Tower, the Pleasure Beach, Sandcastle and Tussauds. It is easy to get around by tram. Just don't go down the backstreets. When compared to Brighton, Scarborough etc it is still compares very favourably and it is still a lot safer than London and UK cities. I enjoyed your video and thought it was a very fair reflection considering you didn't see the town at its best. You have gained yourself a new subscriber.

Thank you. That means a lot. I always visit everywhere with an open mind, and there's the good and bad everywhere - even areas considering "posh" or "desirable" .. it was indeed a terrible grey day, I will go back on a summers day some time :)

Don't bother, Blackpool is polluted with the worst sort of pondlife that exist in the UK, it's a desperate place, even more so at weekends

@@richardmurray2068 We visit Blackpool at least four times a year to get away from our business stress, we can go anywhere but choose to stay here as my wife has a fear of flying. There is pondlife everywhere including where you live as no one has to look further than their neighbours! And on closing Blackpool has such so many friendly people to meet like we did with some Irish gypsies last weekend that wore track suits and tattoos in every part of their bodies wearing expensive gold chains. You need to get off your high chair and value friendship that you are sorely missing!

Gosh, it's been years since I've been to a Northern Soul All Nighter! I used to go to the ones in Stoke! Bet it's a great night!

@solotraveluksilentexplorer Stoke still going . Great alnighter . November 9th there's a big northernsoul event in tower. Its called a little togetherness weekend. . Soulsuite and pug bar are magic

I love blackpool. A lot of people say it is 'rubbish' to use the polite variant of the term actually used but between having a bike ride up the prom, riding a heritage tram and going to arcade club as well as all the other attractions, I can easily spend 3-4 days there at a time.

Totally. And I am not sure what people actually "expect" surely they know Las Vegas of The North is tongue and cheek? I thought it was a really interesting place - and so much to do!

This brought back some memories for me. A week at Pontins holiday camp when I was sweet 16. I didn't go into the famous ballroom but remember seeing so much ballroom dancing in the evenings in Pontins. It is a lovely place and all of that lovely sand. Thank you for reminding me. x

It’s lovely isn’t it! I find seeing people ballroom dancing really emotional. You see real love in their faces .. I went to pontins once when I was a kid, the one on the Isle of Wight - I think it was called “Little Canada” 😂

Just watched this Lucy as I’m trawling my way through your older videos. Yes I felt like going back in time seeing Blackpool again and as you say it is what it is. But…. That Ballroom 😮🥰 wow. I’ve never seen it and that was amazing (and a cream tea) superb !! Thank you for showing me 🥰

If ever you go back to Blackpool you must go to the Ballroom - even if you just go there. It's incredible. Every time I go in I cry!! I am such a soft sap, but it's so beautiful and you can feel the history as well as the floor moving!

The old couples dancing in the Tower Ballroom are cute and the promenade looks magical lit up. Wouldn’t be my choice as i don’t like fairs and arcades, but each to their own!

My hometown. Not been back for a while. Love the beach - would involve a wheelchair these days, not very sand compatible ! The biggest & best 'lumies' are at Bispham end ( and a really nice chip shop if it's still there ) The Winter Gardens has a sprung dancefloor too. Never heard of a Hull patty before - looks good. Once had a 'peaball' in St Annes. it's exactly as it sounds - a ball of mushy peas in batter 😁
