I had vaginal and rectal prolapse… surgery did not help!! Within 3 days it felt no better than before!! I was devastated as I was a waitress and a single mom!! Make a long story short… a pessary ring saved me ! I got the smallest one and 13 years later it is still working!!! I am 70!!!😀👍

Pessaries do work well if you’re willing. A lot of people really don’t want that and they want surgery right away. In my experience surgery works well but it needs to be done by an experienced surgeon.

@@DrJeffreyMcQueary I supposedly had one of the best … I went in 3 times after my surgery telling him I was feeling the same falling out as before . He would give me a quick check and say nothing is wrong… I am I excellent shape with no health problems so it really bothers me. He retired shortly afterwards and I ended up going with a pessary. I had the “ mesh sling” which is totally different than the surgery my mom had years prior and she never had a problem. But , all’s well that ends well I guess, and thankful for the pessary, it has worked out wonderfully for me! 👍

Making sure you are taking the proper vitamins and nutrients so you don’t get sick or lose your hair. 3. Completely getting rid of sugar. 4. Intermittent fasting. 5. Cardio/ but as for me I don’t like working out so my body doesn’t lose anything. I sing, and dance around my house and just move my body. This meditation has really helped with my health overall. This is why I have been avoiding it because it seems it is a very nasty surgery with a very difficult recovery, it feels more like it’s my cervix and uterus coming out not my bladder that is where it’s most uncomfortable in that area.. My last period was extremely heavy, and seems that my cervix came out pretty much to stage 3 im afraid to shower! There is life after prolapse. Oh I can so relate to this. In 2018 I had prolapse surgery for uterus & bladder failing out. My back hurt and I had such pressure. I was basically home bound due to constant having to urinate. If we went out for quick meal & I could sit I could handle that. So I had the surgery 2018. So 5 weeks post op my bladder doesn’t hold up to the surgery and prolapses again. So I was having some issues with my tissues healing so I had to wait until August of 2019 to have surgery again. Then came Covid. Still not finished in 2021 I had to have a total knee replacement. I’m doing great now but I’m not going to lie it took me some time to physically ,mentally, and emotionally heal. I couldn’t do pessary they just came right out. My worst times were when there were low pressures in the area. The pressure was just horrible. The surgery wasn’t too bad and from the prolapse surgery by the 5-6 week I felt pretty decent. I had robotic surgery and yes I still had post op pain but not as bad as previous surgeries.

Thank you so much. This was so informative. I’ve been battling with stage two cystocele and rectocele for about three years now I have seen a PT and it relieve the symptoms but they tend to always come back. I have lost weight but the minute I gain two or 3 pounds I feel pressure I am 53 and perimenopause, and still getting my menstrual cycle but very heavy and very irregular now my last one seemed to have pushed the prolapse out to probably a stage three scared me to death. I do not want mesh anything foreign inside me I’ve been trying to avoid the surgery I cannot pick up my grandbabies. I cannot run around too much without suffering later on having to put my feet up the pressure is unbearable, especially right before my menstrual cycle is supposed to come, I have periods where I can go a week or two without any symptoms but now I’m at a point where I welcome the surgery but do not want mesh seems to be more my uterus and cervix than my bladder. I’ve gone to a urogyno and my bladder seems to be working fine and I empty completely I asked for a hysterectomy, but they said that would not help my problem completely. What would you suggest? I am truly exhausted
@DrJeffreyMcQueary

You need help and this is a severe life disabling problem that most people don’t understand. Surgery without mesh is very possible but use of biological skin grafts are extremely effective. Hysterectomy can be but is not always necessary. Good luck.

3 years ago I was told that I have stage 2 bladder prolapse and a stage 1 rectum prolapse. They did mention something about a vaginal they did mention something about a rectocele but I'm not sure if that is the rectum prolapse or whether it's something different. The surgeon 3 years ago wanted me to have a complete hysterectomy because of a cyst on my ovary and at the same time the another surgeon was going to fix the rectocele. When I refused to have the hysterectomy the other rectocele surgeon said that she didn't want to fix the rectercele. Three years later (last month) I decided to get a second opinion and this surgeon said I didn't need hysterectomy. However, because of severe constipation my life is miserable. Nothing that I take relieves the constipation and I have tried everything. Miralax, enamas, fiber, colonics and of course I completely changed my diet by eliminating sugar, and dairy. I then went to another incontinence Doctor who said that my bladder prolapse was still stage 2 and my rectum was stage 1. (The same as it was 3 years ago) I'm a very young 76 years old and I use to be very active but now my whole quality of life has changed. All the incontinence doctor suggested was that I do kegel exercises and use vaginal hormone cream. I'm at a loss as what to do because I am constipated every day of the week all day. Although I don't have any pain it's very uncomfortable constant pressure. Please can you tell me what I should do because I don't feel I'm getting any answers from the many doctors that I have already seen.
@DrJeffreyMcQueary
@DrJeffreyMcQueary 6 месяцев назад
I can’t tell you exactly what to do without examining you myself, but even with the stage one rectocele you could be very symptomatic with severe constipation. These problems can be repaired and often I will do that without a hysterectomy as well. A pessary, and sometimes also help with the bladder but may not help with the rectocele. I have had some patients that it really helped though. You certainly need a doctor that will give you a plan. Kegel exercises may help but they won’t fix the problem.

You are having a surgery called a Sacral Colpopexy. It is a very effective surgery using mesh attaching the upper vaginal area directly to ligaments on the tailbone. It’s a very effective procedure if done by the right person. The bladder sling is also very effective and should be great ways to fix your problems. I'm sorry I don't understand if this is normal. Why are women not told this especially after having children. I feel its a set-up by the medical field. I'm 63 now have bladder prolaspe and my cervix has fallen and possible stage 1 rectal prolaspe. I think this happened to me b/c of hard coughing from being sick last year. I also had a UFE 2011 now my uterine lining is scared, to thick (to thick to be bisoped b/c uterus is scared) and possible change in fibroids increasing in size (up in size). I started BHT after menopause I guess it did'nt help because I still ended up with proplase. I had a UFE to keep my uterus to keep my organs in place and still ended up with prolaspe. I was fitted with a pressary last week, but was told it is something I won't be able to wear one forever. I was told my only options are remove the uterus use mesh or use my own tissue. I had a mesh surgery 2 Months ago for a prolapse bladder so now I am facing a overactive bladder the doctor ask me to do a 48 hour bladder diary to see what’s going on 😞 hope to get better soon

Do the blotter diary because it does help to understand exactly what’s happening. Overactive bladder is quite common after having pelvic surgery. Medication‘s can help.
