Great to see a casual flight example instead of showing off smack like lots of reviews. Gives a good sense of the heli's characteristics vs a pilots skills showcase. Appreciated!

All I've ever flown was fixed wing and fpv quads, but always wanted to learn helis. They just seem really complicated to fly. But this seems like a great platform to learn on. Great vid!

Great Flight Young Fella. I recommend as well for Plane Pilots that want to fly a Heli. blades are great for Airplane pilots. Im 65yo an a 14 year rc airplane pilot. Love , Blade Heli s. Have nano s3, 230 v2 an now a 150 s, no telemetry. as well the cfx 180. Mistake there,, lol beautiful tail, an VERRRRRY similiar in some parts to the 150,, However. The 180 cfx is not a begineer Heli at all.. If your a plane pilot an want to sport /scale fly mostly, an want to 3d about 4 mistakes hi??? go Blade not the 180 cfx tho,,lol

All my helis have motor driven tails and I've never noticed the lag but that's probably because I've never known anything different. Non motor driven tails do look more complicated to set up for a relative new-comer like me. Keep up the good work!
@mangzrc
@mangzrc Год назад
They may be more complicated but they are superior in performance, once you fly one you’ll never want to go back. And it’s really not that complicated, I would recommend belt drive at first as they are more robust and forgiving over torque tube.

How would you compare this with the 230S? Is this better or is the 230S better? The 230S comes with a transmitter, but the 150S doesnt I think? Which flies better and has more features?

Hi, Nice video really liked it. Have one question. What heli do you recommend buying as the 2nd heli, Blade MCPx BL2 or 150S? What heli handles crashes better? I previously owned a Blade Nano S2.
@mangzrc
@mangzrc Год назад
The MCPX will handle crashes a little better than the 150s, but if your confident and ready to move up, I would go with the 150s.

Great job flying,I just got a blade 150 s&230,spectrum nx 6 & radio master tx16, wanted to know what parts should I stock up on for crashes,so I won’t have any down time thank you.just got the nx8 transmitter
@mangzrc
@mangzrc Год назад
I would start with stocking main gears, swash links, tail booms, main & tail blades, main shafts & feathering spindles.

Do you use some special hardware to tell you that the battery is low or just the stock one? I noticed you use DX9, but I own DX8 only. Will it work?
@mangzrc
@mangzrc 11 месяцев назад
Telemetry is built into the heli, which DX8 do you have? The original one that is a chrome color? Or the Gen 2 that is black?
@mspiderv
@mspiderv 11 месяцев назад
@@mangzrc Thanks for the answer! I have DX8 Gen 2. Will the telemetry tell me the current battery voltage even if I don't use spektrum "smart" batteries?

I have a 200SRX and it was too much for me - going to drop down to like an S3 is that best for learning?
@mangzrc
@mangzrc 11 месяцев назад
The S3 is durable and can take a major beating. It is very small with short flight times, but it does fly well, but its touchy and can be difficult to see at range. 3D is challenging due to its size, however it can be a good trainer to learn the basics of flight. I would not say its the best trainer, but if the 200 did not work for you, giving the S3 a try is worth the shot. Buy tail booms, landing gear, main and tail blades, and extra batteries if you get one.

Hi I'm new to rc helicopter. What do u recommend I get as a first beginner helicopter? I'm thinking the blade 120s, 150s or 230s. Thx
@mangzrc
@mangzrc Год назад
If you are wanting super simplicity and durability, go with the 120S. Just remember that the 120S is NOT a collective pitch helicopter, so you will never be able to progress past basic level flight. The 150S and 230S are collective pitch helis with SAFE. This gives you the best of both worlds, you can learn to fly with self-leveling & bank limits, but than you can progress into 3D and flying without any limitations, which of course is the main goal of flying helis. The 230S is probably a little easier to work on and service since it’s a little bigger, although I do like the 150S for its big performance in a small heli. The 230S is offered in a RTF, while the 150S is not. I would probably steer you to the 230S. I would highly recommended practicing on a sim first if you can. Also, don’t forget the Blade S3, it’s super small, but it’s a full collective pitch heli with SAFE as well, that heli will take the most beating before breaking in my opinion. My brother-in-law started off on a S3 and learned how to fly, then he moved up to a MCPX, he broke the S3 pretty often but he would crash it multiple times a flight, they are cheap and easy to repair as well.

@@mangzrc Thanks so much for your reply. Yeah I was leaning towards the 150s but it being a bind, I'm gonna go for the 230s. I don't like the 120s because of the tail, it looks weak. I'm gonna research the S3. I do have 2 of those $20 helis that have that stabilizer but I wanna learn n do tricks eventually!

@@Stavros1977 don’t know if it’s just me, but I personally can’t stand the 120 S. It flies ok but as far as durability to me, I just can’t believe anyone would call it durable, it’s a piece of garbage, especially that stir stick like tail boom and weak brushed motor. Anybody out there who likesthem so much let me know, and I will ship you what I have including a ton of parts. To be clear these questions are for the author of the video. I have two 150’s. My tail motors are both noisy but one in particular is quite loud, almost drives me nuts (especially compared to a real quality machine like say OMP). Let me guess it’s going bad or is it just the way these things are? Also I noticed a bit of tail wag when you first took off in safe. Mine do that too along with twitches now and and then. Any way to improve or correct that? Any thoughts would be very appreciated. Thanks. I would really appreciate your input. Thanks.

OMP hobby has actually come up with a technology to fix that pirouette lag with direct drive tails. What they have actually done is implement something called TALY, or torque aided left yaw. Basically when you give counterclockwise yaw input, the side that has now power because the tail blade is fixed pitch, it instead speeds up the main rotors to induce a torque spike. This gives OMP hobby helicopters powered yaw in both directions even with the direct drive fixed pitch tail, and the ability to hold the tail heading in moments of low disc loading. It's a pretty cool technology and just another way that the leading market is leaving blade in the dust. Go figure, Blade is like the Apple of RC helicopters. They refuse to innovate anything new and get their most loyal fanboys to prop up crappier rehashes of their old products or just make a crappier version of leading technologies and relying solely on people remembering what they were like when they were in their prime. Cough cough infusion 180 cough cough.
