I can't get over the singing sound that some of these larger helicopters make, it's just so pretty to listen to. Like I could seriously just listen to that sound all day long. I imagine that it's probably even better to listen to in real life too.
I just returned my 230 smart today. Never flew it but the staff noticed the sensor loose and said guaranteed crashes. So they ordered the 330 and I have to get a remote. I'm contemplating on getting a plane instead. But you need a lot more space. But my kid has a little drone and with a heli it would be nice to tool around together at the park. A plane is a diffeent animal.
Yeah man it’s been a good model, working on it is a pain though, the hardware is really poor and due to the outdated layout and setup, it’s not fun to service. I would recommend spending a little more and getting the Fusion 360 which I have videos on.

LOL I would start oposite from biggest to smaller. Bigger is more stable. But now we have these technology it stabilize even smaller then this. But nothing is better then big helicopter when it comes to high wind and stable.
@@rcrotorfreak I started with 230S night version, but the tail is always lagging, and it tilted to the left on take off. It's just a shelf queen now. I jumped to 450 then 550 now I fly Trex600. There's no way I'm going back to small helis. More stable, more power and more forgiving on autorotation
Any idea why my 330s loses power when I switch from Normal to IU1/IU2? It will fall out of the sky because the motor cuts out for 1.5-2.0 seconds. Thanks!
Sorry for the late reply, didn’t see your comment. I have never heard of that happening, you should definitely contact Horizon with this issue. Sounds like a ESC issue to me.
Great video thanks. Getting back into RC helis and looking to get a 330 s to pick up where I left off. I flew Blade 400s 10 years ago and was proficient at scale flying and could do loops but crashed a Lot attempting to learn sport flying, as there was no bail out or safe mode back then. Want to learn 3D to hold inverted hover and do some stunts. Question. What Spektrum controller do you recommend for Beginner/Intermediate that will meet the needs for flying like you did in this vid? Will the DX6e be sufficient or should I invest more out of the gate? Thanks!!
The DX6I would technically be sufficient, but I would highly recommend investing in an NX6. The interface is so much better and forward programming is much easier to use, which is something you’ll be using on the 330S. I use a DX9 for my helis, but I use an NX10 for fixed-wing, I like them both and they both have pros and cons, but I would personally not go with anything below a NX series radio.
If you don't mind....did you set your radio by the manual? Throttle curve and pitch curve, since you can fly like that I'm assuming you made your own curve settings. I know you said - out of the box but I think you said you change one of the throttle ups. Anyway great flying this is my next one for sure.
The only thing I changed was the throttle curve in stunt 1. The value they give you is a good place to start, but if you want more RPM, just raise the value little-by-little. They recommend 80% in stunt 1, I raised mine too 85% to get a little more power in stunt 1. You can change it to whatever you’d like, within reason of course.
I have all the trims on neutral and the 330 is still wanting to move around. I'm having to hold the cyclic forward to keep it steady. If I let the cyclic go back to the middle, it's gonna pitch backward
It has SAFE which means it will self-level itself similar to a drone, but not nearly as precise or steady. It will not return home. RC helis are much more challenging to simply fly, let alone do stunts/3D compared to quads.
The 360 is a more modern design with better geometry, better materials, & a little more power, but I don’t believe there is enough difference in performance to justify buying one. If your ready to move up from the 330, maybe consider the Fusion 480, T-Rex 470 LP/LM kit or save up and build a kit heli with some nice electronics, like a Goblin 380.
I'm looking for my first copter im stuck between the 180 infusion, 230s the 330, or 150 so many rc copter idk which is good for me. I just got into this hobby
Do you already have a Spektrum computer radio? If you do, I would recommend the infusion or the 150s. The smaller heli's are less likely to break in a crash. Parts will also be cheaper. Motorized tails are not as good or precise as belt tails, but they are a lot easier to fix and do not have nearly as many moving parts, making it less complicated to tune/setup for someone starting off. If you need a full RTF package, go with the 230S for sure.
@@LizardMane Okay, gotcha. So a lot of Heli & airplane models are either kits or “BNF” (Bind & Fly) models. Horizon has some “BNF” & “RTF” models. An “RTF” (Ready-To-Fly) model comes with everything you need to fly the model. A “BNF” or “BNF Basic” model only comes with the heli or plane and you are required to provide your own radio, charger & battery. The 150S & Infusion are only offered in BNF packages, so that will not work for you. I would recommend getting the 230S RTF. It comes with everything you need, including a nice 3s 850 smart lipo.
Unfortunately, they actually just discontinued the RTF 230S online, now they have a “RTF Basic” package which does not come with a battery or charger, but it does come with the radio. “RTF Basic” is a brand new thing they just started doing. You can still find the fully RTF 230 in stores though, my local HobbyTown has some in stock right now.
I wouldn’t say this is a bad first heli, but I would highly recommend starting with the Blade 150s or Blade Infusion. I know they are smaller which some people frown upon, but they are much better for withstanding crashes. Not only are they more durable, but they are much simpler and have a much lower parts count. They still have the same capabilities and features as the 330, but are much easier to repair, work on & tune. They also have hex hardware over the 330s’ super cheap Phillips hardware. When learning to fly collective, you are going to crash, a lot. You don’t want to be fixing a 330s often. If you are dead set on a larger heli, I would recommend the 360 Fusion, it’s a much more modern design with better hardware and overall geometry. I don’t think the 330 is bad, but smaller helis are your friend when learning in my opinion. Once you get comfortable with the smaller ones, jumping up is no problem.
I would not jump into something this large as your very first heli, I would start with the Blade 120 or the Blade Nano S3. If you have a simulator, that would help a lot as well.
The 330S is the exact same heli as the 330X. Only different is the flight controller & ESC. I would recommend you go ahead and pick up a 360 Fusion. Much better heli in every aspect, and much easier to service & work on. Still uses the same 3S 2200 that you fly your 330X on.

I love the look of the fusion 360, just kind of intimating for me with that little size increase I don’t know why haha. I’ll check it out though. The fusion 180 looks amazing too
@@adamschubert1626 I really appreciate it! Don’t be intimidated, it’s barely any bigger and it surely doesn’t fly bigger. It still has SAFE on it just like your 330 so you’ll still have that reassurance. It’s a much more modern design vs the 330 which is very old. The 360 truly is a good heli. I don’t recommend the 180, it’s an okay heli, under powered and tedious to work on. I haven’t touched mine in months, but I am constantly flying 360 helis.
@@mangzrc yeah I used to have a trio 360 and it was a dream! The problem is I took a long break from the hobby with college. Now I’m graduated now and so eager to get back in. I don’t have a radio anymore and my 330x came RTF, which I just crashed. So the 360 not coming in RTF is like a 300 dollar difference for me because I want that sexy NX8 haha. I’m going to consider my options. Christmas coming maybe 330s now and 360 and a radio from Santa!
Iv had one for awhile. Haven’t made a video on it yet. It’s the exact same heli as the 480 stretch. Its a great heli if your thinking about buying one,
@@fart3 I just eyeball the distance between the battery and the motor. I run my battery as close to the motor as possible. It can be hard to CG helis sometimes with the low amount of room under the canopy.
Horizon hobbies suck I bought 1 brand new wad damaged in box left a bunch of emails with them haven't heard a word in 2 months so don't expect a warranty good luck
