The new Ultratechs are game changers. No longer need to drop $600+ for a low supply custom OTF to not get blade play is revolutionary.

The fact that they are working in the zero blade play stuff at Ultratech price is actually insane to me.

Unbelievable!!!!! I can’t wait to buy the new Ultratechs! So you upgrade literally every knife in the lineup - the folders get titanium back spacers and Ram-Lok, the OTF’s get dual fuel, titanium clips, revised glass breakers in nearly flush titanium housings, and in many cases at the same or lower prices. As if that wasn’t enough, our beloved Ultratech basically gets the whole suite of upgrades and still within the same price range? This is frankly something the knife industry has never seen. Wow! Just crushing it.

Can’t wait till the 85s are like that!

I was lucky to get a Scarab 2 gen 3 first production run from a local vendor with the top blade flute. And my 2020 Ultratech isn't zero play but it's about 85%

I love Microtech knives like the Ultratech, but switchblades are illegal to own in so many places. I wish Microtech would make a manual tumb stud version of something like this with the stiletto dagger style blade and the same elegant look that knives like the Ultratech and the Dirac Delta has.

The price of the zero blade play feature was based on exclusivity. In a way MT was lucky that Hawk developed the market, now they can mass produce their own variant at half the cost and people will flock to it thinking its a "bargain". I think part of the reason Hawk has upped their prices is one last hurrah before the market drives the price down. Honestly I value max blade length to handle ratio more than a little bit of play. I also wish someone would do a quality OTF with a simple straight tang traditional spear point blade. The Hawk single edge was close but still a little "stabby" with a fragile tip.

Can someone find out for me if i can take the blade out of my 2023 Blade Show version and drop it into the new one? Probably not possibly, but I would like to try if I can.

Does the blade play actually affect performance at all? Does not having blade play make the knife more durable? Does it increase locking strength? Or is it just a nice to have?

Just a suggestion: You keep jumping between saying “they” and “we” when referring to the company. Sounds strange. If you’re an employee, just say “we”.
