I realize this is an older video. It's been very informative! I've waited for years and finally came to the point that I'm going to buy nice stuff. I had always wanted a utx-70. Not a big knife, and not super expensive, but it does cost a couple dollars. I'm at the range the other day and who it out to trim a cigar. Here I am styling with my new orange s/e. I've been using and sharpening knives for years. The knife BARELY could cut the cigar and damaged the cigar. I was sawing and getting no where. Disappointed, I remember at the fun shows, and the microtechs were razor sharp! I may have to send it back in for some factory love.
Just bought my first Microtech, a UTX-85. I can already tell I’ll be building a collection. Super impressed with these knives, and especially after seeing videos of the production process and factory tours, it’s very apparent that they’re worth the money.
Excellent advice here, I would love to see how you sharpen your serrated blades! I think it's awesome to see an owner of a company take time out of his day to share his knowledge with his customer base.
Though it’s been around for a while, the Ultratech is the most evolved knife in the lineup. Reliable enough to trust your life with, the perfect size to fit in my MOLLE gear or pocket, classy clean lines. Oh, and the sound it makes gives one a smile and a chub simultaneously.
My first Microtech is a Blue D/E partially serrated Ultratech with a satin blade that I picked up in 2014. I Also have a Black Tactical Tanto Ultratech birth date in 2014 as well that I do not use and is just in my collecton..Blue LEO Ultratech is always with me when I patrol the streets of Chicago..Just picked up the Exocet Tanto Bounty Hunter and that is now my favorite EDC. I love all of the Microtech models! Wish I could have them all! 😁
Microtech Knives are top quality, I own one now but I would love a OTF. Nice to see American craftsmanship that still alive and strong. Had to use my Socom Elite glass break on a truck window, older gentleman was passed out and not responsive and doors were locked Subscribed 👍
The ultratech is my favorite. The size is great for me. Unfortunately I had to sell mine a couple months ago but I definitely plan on picking up a new one once I get back to work
Love the fact that the Owner and CEO of a company will still get his hands dirty and put in some work for his customers. I own plenty of Microtech knives and plan on getting more in the future. Absolutely love my Stitch for an EDC and my SBD for hunting/camping.
Honestly, the best blade for me is the manual Microtech Socom. Don’t get me wrong I really like the ultratech and it’d a a nice piece in my pocket, but good luck kicking the Socom out of my pocket to put it there. Insane durability, perfect size, comfy in even the hardest grips, and the action… it flicks.. no.. it fires like it’s an auto but drops shut like a guillotine. The perfect knife. For me.
Love and own the Ultratech with a spear point blade with the Molon Labbe artwork. I love this knife. it truly is practical with the spearpoint blade, fast to deploy and the artwork is incredible. Use the Apex Edgepro to keep it nice and sharp.
Absolutely the Microtech Stitch!!! Followed by the Combat Troodon then the SOCOM Elite! Microtech Knives offer the best price-to-quality ratio than any other manufacturer. You can never go wrong with choosing any of the knives in their lineup! 👍👍👍
My grail configuration for a Microtech would likely be a blue UTX-85 in S/E with an apocolyptic bronzer blade finish. Ideal size with a touch of classy. On a feedback note, please continue to push out content like this on your channel. It’s awesome to get to know Mr. Marfione in addition to learning more about the Microtech philosophies/practices. Take care!
Microtech was my first OTF knife I had bought and fell in love with the craftsmanship and design i just got a ludt purple with the bronze hardware and it’s my favorite knife love showing it off. Love to have a chance to win the jade ultratech to add to my collection!!!!
Thank you for sharing. Great control looking down inside the blade on the contact wheel. Simple human control by skilled hands is best. I'm curious how many knive edges might you get off the 120, and 600 belts respectively before you have to change them out?
I have 5 microtechs, all of them are awesome but my favorite is my troodon. It is slightly contoured, and just feels better in my hand. Will continue to add to my collection for sure.
Just started collecting these a couple of months ago. Got a standard UTX-70 DE and a standard Combat Troodon DE. Looking to pick up a Signature or two and maybe a Custom. I don't know where it will end, honestly. That Ultratech would fit in my collection quite nicely though.
Ever since I got my Ultratech I haven't carried another knife. Superb quality, easy to carry, and just phenomenal ergos. Hands down my favorite knife out of the ones I own!
My stormtrooper Exocet dagger slipped landed on my leg and gave me stitches had go to ER few days ago. Surgical grade sharpness. I’m not a fan of double edge. My favorite new Microtech is my CT frag off double reverse full serrated
I've been sharpening for 41 years now, as well as being a Machinist. I hear everything of what he is saying and he is exactly right about the angles, the grind wheel and from free-hand to the belvin wheel, the strop, to keeping the edges as long as possible by keeping angles right all through the technique of the sharpening process! Very good! I need to come work for these guys..!? 😎👍⚔️🗡️
These are top quality, beautiful pieces of art that this company puts out and I am blessed to own two of, so far. I'm sure I'll be buying more in the near future.
so Bad Ass! I love seeing these "behind the scenes" videos with Tony talking and showing how each and every knife is hand sharpened! makes me want to be apart of the team!
Thanks for sharing this great info! Very well explained and easy to understand. Would never attempt this on my microtech,I'd send it in to let the pros in the shop do it.
Such a pleasure to see how the care and hand work go into the Micotech blades. Free hand is amazing. I always thought it was with an angle block. Keep up the great work to all the folks at Microtech
