I 1st cycled the Isle of White back in 1990 on a road bike. It was great, even with the rain that started to pour down half way through my ride. It was cold but a blast! I did the entire island in one ride.
I pretty much grew up every summer in Cowes pissing around on boats and love the island. It brings back so many happy memories as i watch this from home in Sydney i suddenly find myself feeling so much closer to home.
Living here on the Isle o Wight, agree with the other posts, done more than tourism board in 10 yrs. Brilliant video and great to see a sneaky run through Brighstone Forest. I look straight out my back door across to Tennyson down and am privileged to see the most amazing sunsets on a reg basis.
Every year you will find me on Sandown beach holidaying. I worked at the Jesmond Dean hotel back in the 80's (no longer there) and fell in love with the Island. I am moving heaven and earth at the moment to get a permanent residence. I adore mountain biking, and the Isle of Wight, and this video has made my desire to move excruciating 😁What beautifully shot content. Thank you.
My home is the island, and it really does have everything for cycling. For the family, old railway lines converted to paved cycle paths. Bridle ways. Green lanes. MTB tracks. Road cycling along roads without traffic - most of the Island roads (even the back lanes) have been relaid the last few years and make road cycling a joy. Pubs, village shops, tea rooms, there is never a stop far away. If you take a folding bike then they still have comprehensive islandwide bus services if you fancy a one way trip, or don't want to fight the wind on the return.
That ride up from The Garlic Farm to meet the road at The Downs is a killer! I lived on the island for 3 years (just a few doors down from the tea rooms at 15:00), it's fantastic for mountain biking, this makes me miss being there for the riding. I don't miss the ferry costs though.
I went to the Isle of Wight with the British Army in the early 2000'S for adventure training..... more like we did plenty of adventure drinking 🤣🤣 It's a beautiful Island 👍
Didn't know Blake lives on IOW, now the ferry ride to get to Snowdon makes sense !! . . . I was booked up with a group of fiends to do our 1st cycle circuit of IOW but it was killed off by Covid. While watching I was following on Goofle earth, it all made me even more determined to get it done when all this craziness is over :-)

Yo Blake I used to live on the Isle of Wight. Used to ride from Newport to Sandown all the time when I was a kid. But honestly buddy you got to realise that you’re a Grockle. You don’t find many mountains but the downs are beautiful and the adders are not as poisonous as you will be used to.
Great to see the IOW on GMBN!!! Ps... The Needles rocket placement is there to test the engines for the UKs first satellite launch. They were launched in Canberra in Australia!
