Dave, this year I'm 71 years old. Almost 50 years ago my fishing teacher used to say, "If the moon is up stay home." He would stop fishing when it came up. He would be theere to fish as the moon was going down. At the time he was the best catfisherman I had ever seen. Now after 50 years of catfishing from the bank I could not prove him wrong. And yes I tried. Thanks for the videos.
Your bad days look pretty good Dave. I need to get back out there. I was watching this with my 19 month old grandson. He is a regular fan. I said, "What does Catfish Dave say?" He goes, "WOOOOO."
Always a great video, Dave. I had a friend years ago who was a trotliner and on a full moon he would float his lines about five foot deep and catch catfish. He said at night on a full moon they feed near the surface of the water. Any other time on bottom. He made his living on Ft. Loudon doing this. Might try a float rig at night on a full moon.
I have used cat,drum and Ell here in south Alabama. Ell very very bloody.tuff hide like cat fish. All ways a good morning watching you Dave. A bad day fishing is still a good day. Your having a pretty good day.
I'm a cut bait guy, never used cut catfish but it don't surprise me cause they love cut bait. Thanks again for your persistence cause you did catch fish for a catch fish video. Keep the film rolling!!!

Hey dave love your videos I was once a big flat head catfisher but I've not done anything in a few years I never did have the luck you have my biggest was 30 pounds caught alot of 12 and 13 pounders I always done good when I could catch rock bass for bait used alot of bluegill fore bait but i never caught anything good on sunfish just nast old bowfines I hate those things
Dave, an old experienced fisherman told me catfish is all he uses. He said the oils in the skin will draw a fish where other baits don't. Like you I have sucess with the catfish bait. Great videos, keep them coming.
Another good one Dave! I know you didn't ask my opinion but if you had I would had said you should have kept the heads off those catfish and used them for bait too. Good Luck!!!

Catfish is my new go to bait now when I have nothing else. Never thought of using it till I watched Catfish Dave. Rivers are nuts around here now due to the rain might be going to a local reservoir and try catfish. Thanks again for an awesome informative video!

Hi Dave!!🤙 Think on the bright side brother, you get to fish. Everything up here is frozen and it sucks... I like to use bullhead fillets, we don’t have blues up here in Wisconsin however we do have large flatheads and channel cats😎
The full moon helps when the heron (birds) are working the bank..... They add a bit different form of excitement? lol Can honestly say - sorta- that I caught a fresh water flying fish.

I know I been giving u hell bout casting 6miles and being under 100yards. Why my pursuit about 100 yrds is due to a spot for me on the river to catch big stripe bass. I just had a revelation on how to field test my 100yards cast. All I have to do is have 102 yards of braid on top of my mono. Vice versa. To test my distance. To be more exact. .ore exact than my ideo of buying a yardage scope. Smdh it just came to me. Lol
I can testify to the Moon and not catching fish, I went last Wednesday and the moon came up and me and two of my buddies that were with me didn't get a bite all night long. We fish this hole every year at this time and usually have good luck but that full moon...

This daiwa reels in your video called "return of catfish Dave" would be perfect for me on lake texhoma striper fishing. I'm just not sure what kind they are. The only spinning reels I can with clickers are not loud at all! If anyone know a good one with a good clicker I can order let me know would be much appreciated. I did find one called the daiwa regal 4000 , but the one in that video was LOUD!
When catfishing in your blood, nothing better wake up to. 2 quick questions what type of reflection tape are you using and what's the deepest water you've ever caught catfish in. I live near lake Cumberland in Ky. And she's deep.
Hey Dave, have you tried Full Moon Bobber Fishing, I to fish on the bottom, but with the full moon those game fish tend to come to the top, maybe just try it & if it works Great, & if it doesn't you can say you Tried.... Good job catching them whiskers....
@@spyder8490 I too agree with you, when I know that there's going to be a Full Moon, I always take my float set up, I'll run 2 at the bottom & my float about 6"-8", It sometimes work better than the bottom, but it may take a little bit longer, fish are in the water, we just to find'em, & being a bank fisherman we have to get out there, but I've caught'em not more from 30' from the bank where it has a drop off... Be safe & good luck...
Sounds like excuses to me. I always catch big cats during the full moon. You have to stay past midnight. That's when the big girls feed on a full moon. When most guys are in bed.
@@catfishdave8192 I plan on it this Summer my man. You can see a few of my catches now on Instagram though. I have a 50+ with the full moon right over my shoulder. You're right though I do a lot of bass fishing these days because it's more of a challenge but don't be fooled I've been catching them fish with whiskers since I could walk and they do fight harder than a bass so I still get after them from time to time.
What's the length of ur rods again Dave? And about how far do u usually cast give are take? I want to upgrade to longer rods (10 ft r 12 ft) but don't know if my Abu 6500s wud be ideal. Prob will get a 7000 or budget reel similar n size. Wanna reach 100 yrds
Smaller abus would need braid to be able to have enough line on the spool. My rods are 12ft. You will wear out the levelwinds in those a bus casting long distance.. I would just take the levelwind out and learn to use them that way.
The truth is full moons are great as a matter of fact one third of all world records for every species of fish are caught within the three days of a full moon to the typically incredible so fish ran the full moon plus that way you don't trip over things and fall down
