Catfish Dave you are one heck of a fisherman! I just recently discovered your videos and it is a real p!easure to watch someone catch these big cats that knows what they are doing. I know this is an older video, however I think I know why u find bb guns near the water, it's most likely for using a balloon to float your bait way out in the water, then use the bb gun to pop the balloon and drop the bait to the bottom. I fish a spot where it is impossible to cast, however the current takes the bait out to the right spot and boom, I pop the baloon and put my bait where I want it.
We feel your pain Dave! Been real inconsistent catfishing this winter. The Potomac River in DC has been running high and muddy most of the time, making for some tough fishing...but a bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work.

Keep up the good work Dave, great video. I went yesterday for a hour and caught 3 but wasn't big, around 15lb. But the bite has seemed to pick up. The guts on them was swolled out big as a basketball. Should be a good weekend to fish, might have to wear our rain gear lol.
Dave, Id is a good idea to read the farmers almanac! This year is the end of a 12 year solar cycle. They predicted colder winder and where it usually rains a lot it will rain more etc etc.

I Kno exactly what you mean. The French broad was up down up down all year I only caught one fish of any size a 21 pound flathead don't sound like much but it was a good fish for where I fish. As always a great video dave
Yup, winter can suck here too (Mid-Atlantic Coast). On the smaller rivers, the level reacts more to the wind than tides. Winter means north winds and that means the water is draining. We've had a warm up over the last two days from some southwest winds so maybe the fish will cooperate tomorrow. I'm going to give it a try - because as you say, "That's what we do. Get'r done."

Its definitely been tough Dave I agree. I've been dying to go but the the Ohio river is either froze over or the current is to strong bc of all the rain. But Hey a fish is a fish Dave nice job.
I found one of those too! they called the police found out it was one of those exact bb guns. The cop didn't want to make a report on it so my co-worker that found it gave it to me.
Man it has been tough. I remember last year this time we was catching some of the best fish of the year for us and now it's hard to buy a a bite these last couple weeks. I got skunked trying to fish around the shad and the other 2 trips were just 1 and 2 fish trips as well.
Well it made me feel better hearing tjis from you! Ive been out fishing everyday for many hours and i have not had any luck at all. Ive been getting maybe ine or two a week 22 pounds has been my biggest in 2019 so far. I was thinking ut was just me or something ive been doing. Just way to much water moving down here and with five days of rain coming this week dont see things getting any better anytime soon.

Its been a good Winter for me on the Mississippi River catchin BLUES you just gotta find them and get on them the bite is real soft most of the time they will pick the bait up and drop it mostly during cold months thats when I do alot of setting the hook myself catch more fish like that to
Its been tought in Oklahoma this year every week this past month we have had rain and 50 to 70 degree temperature changes so i fill your pain withthis winter
