:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) When I first tried this blend last year once or twice, I thought it was just OK. I gave it a rating of about 3 out of 5 I think. When you gave out the list for the blends this year, I bought two ounces of each of the twelve blends. I decided to just smoke this month's blend until it was gone. You know, to give it a really fair shake and to try it in many different pipes. The more i smoked Dunhill My Mixture 965 the more I liked it. It really, really grew on me and I found that I enjoyed it very, very much. With Dunhill blends going away, I stocked up on a reasonable amount to enjoy over the coming years and when it's gone, I'll be happy i had the experience.

🙂🙂🙂🙂 Excellent blend, my favorite. The sweet, warm, flavorful taste in the retrohale makes this blend awesome.

This one is my all time favorites. Nice English/Scottish ribbon cut,the key is the cavendish, gives that roundness, strong enough to satisfy my need when it comes to Nicotine, I liked Murray's version more than this STG version. If you like this blend try Rattray's Red Lion,Peterson Old Dublin,Gawiths Scotch cut Mixture(which is no longer in production). 965 is good from newbies to veteran. Full 5 stars.

✨✨✨✨ Sadly not Dunhill, but Peterson's 965. It's my absolute first blend, keep this in mind while reading please. Tin note: leather, earthy notes. something like tea leaves and a subtle hint of chocolate/vanilla. The loose, ribbon cut provides an easy pack, easy smoke solution. If left to dry for ~10 min, there will be no need to relight for any beginner. Smoked it in a savinelli prémiere billiard and a rosewood bent billiard. When packed at tin humidity, the flavor is fairly mellow, with dry, earthy notes. At around mid-bowl, some hints of caramel/cinnamon may emerge, especially when retrohaling. The cool, slow smoke does not evolve much more than that until the very end of the bowl, when the aroma of tea becomes very intense. When dried a little, the aroma becomes peppery and generally spicier. If smoked in a bent, all the flavors combine and mellow in a sweeter, more delicate experience.

First english I every tried allthough in the Peterson offering. This marked my first embarkation away from virginia blends and aeromatics. While the tin note was quite a departure from what my nostrills were accustomed to, very nutty and earthy but heavy on the latakia in a good way. The taste was amazing. I first smoked it in a Peterson irish harp 6. Straight billiard. It was a very smooth smoke. No bite. But a mellowing experience for an afternoon smoke. There were undertones of the tin note in the flavor and room note but the camp-fire overtones of the smoke created a nice blend. Smells like an old home… not old people… just an old home. I will purchase more and has opened my pallate to other english blends though I will try early morning pipe next to determine to myself the differences between this and a lighter english. Thanks for the video and your guidance friend! -From a 33 year old new pipe smoker.

🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻I'm relatively new to pipe smoking and this was my first English blend. I really liked the flavor. It was easy to pack and easy to smoke. Nothing but white ash in the bottom of my pipes.

😁😁😁😁 I found this blend to be woody, leatherly, and floral. It smells like an old book and smokes like an old book by a fireplace. This is like potouri for men. I'd imagine walking into an old English book store with a wood stove and smelling this. Very good

🙂🙂🙂 This used to be one of my go-to-blends, and I still enjoy it from time to time, but it just doesn’t seem to have the same complexity that it once had. Today I much prefer Cornell and Deihl’s Tuggle Hall and Kramer’s Father Dempsey (which is coming up for blend club in May), both if which are their respective brand’s version of 965.

😁😁😁 New to the hobby coming from cigars . Smoked in a brand new MM Ozark. Settled at room temp for 20 mins. 1st half of the bowl for me was not very complex in profile at all. Top notes of nuts and leather with a couple of tiny floral licks here and there. Medium body. Little to no Nic hit. Second half of the bowl for me is where this blend came alive. A lot more floral and heavily nutty. The retrohale revealed a very faint sweetness which was new to me. Couldn’t quite put my finger on it but I enjoyed the surprise. The Nic hit and tiny bit of Euphoria came along for a brief period but until I had the second half of this bowl, I would have said there was nothing special here for my new palate. A lot more body here and the phantom sweetness keeps flirting with me. Going to cellar the rest now as I see potential in this as great every day smoke. On to Nightcap next!

**** I give this 3.5 out of 4 stars. I am fairly new to English/Scottish blends, but I really do enjoy this one. My only caveat is the brick and mortar store that I purchased this from did not have any fresh tobacco. He said that he had this batch of Dunhill's My Mixture 965 in the cellar for the last 7 years. So I believe the age has made it all the better. Its smoky and slightly sweet in the bag, I do get the vanilla note on the nose. Once lit, it is smokey sweet and oh so good. I think the orientals play a background role to the Latakia and something sweet. I think it is the Cavendish. Some Virginia's in the background as well, but subtle. A great smoke all around.

😏😏😏 I really enjoy this blend. In my opinion I enjoy it as the first pipe bowl of the day usually after a nice breakfast and it goes quite nicely with tea or coffee. It tends to burn a bit on the fast side for me, but it has a nice deep tobacco flavor. The only thing I’m not to crazy about is I think it gets a bit strong towards the end of the bowl, but even still it’s a keeper for me and I will keep it in my rotation of blends. I’ve smoked it in a dedicated briar and meerschaum and the meerschaum tends to bring out a slight bit more sweetness on my palate.

❹ out of ❺: As part of my English blend exploration, I opted to open this tin late in the winter. As a result, I almost prolonged the end of my season! It has a very nicely balanced composition of the components and the subtleties became more noticeable as time went on. I think others I’ve tried may rank a tad higher but I hope to get another tin or two of this before all’s said and Dunhill. ;-) Have a great spring!

🙂🙂🙂 - After smoking nothing but the aromatic nutty Irishman all January this blend was a really nice change. The jar note is more of that actual tobacco smell instead of any aromatic topping. I'm still a new pipe smoker so I can't pick out all the different types just from smelling it but to me it smells good. It burns well and doesn't get too hot or wet so no tongue bite for me. I recently discovered the breath or bellows method of smoking which changes the game for me and really helps me to keep things cool and flavorful. I like the flavor of the smoke, it's much more flavorful than the nutty Irishman was after it's topping burnt off. However the longer I smoked this blend the less exciting it got and it left me wanting something more. So, over all a really good blend, definitely enjoyable so I'm giving it 3 emoji but reserving that 4 and 5 emoji rating for hopefully something in the coming months! Hope everyone is well and I'll see you in a month!

**** out of 5. When I first smoked this blend, I didn't know if I liked it or not. It was one of the stronger English blends I've had. After smoking it a couple times it grew on me and now I really enjoy it. I'll smoke some more and see if it gain or lose stars.

🤟🤟🤟🤟 I’m still in my first year of pipe smoking. While I still love aromatics my pallet has begun to wander. I really like this blend. I get a great oriental hit with enough citrus and sweetness to make that spice in the background pleasurable. I can pick out the Latakia in the smokiness, taste and body. This pairs wonderfully with an ice cold sweet drink.

😐😐😐 I bought a couple of ounces of this blend a little over a year ago. I tried a couple of bowls and really didn’t like it so I put it away. When it came time to do blend club I wasn’t looking forward to trying it again but I will have to say that after working with it for a while I like it much better. It behaves well and smokes cool. It has a decent flavor but it still isn’t one of my favorites. I will keep it around and have a bowl once and a while. Not bad but it doesn’t quite hit the mark for me.

👌👌👌 It's a fine smoke but not a great smoke. I have found that I like the Peterson Old Dublin more than the My Mixture 965. There's something about the Basma tobacco that I really like in the Old Dublin.

😁😁😁😁😁 from the first puff, I knew this A great tobacco. The room note is fantastic it's leathery and nutty. The flavor is similar very rich, but not over powering. I bought as much as the budget allowed. Sutliff 965 Match is a good budget friendly alternative, though not as rich (bought a lb of that too).

🤙🤙🤙/5 - Having gone from aromatics to this was a punch in the mouth haha. But I will say, I did appreciate the complexities of 965. Definitely full bodied, the latakia was right up front. But it did get me intrigued into exploring full English blends now. Great to see you Muttnchop! Thanks for keeping up with blend club!

I'm watching this vid again because my brother just gave me 2 tins after disliking it so I thought I'd comment since I've now had the pleasure. I happen to enjoy the balance of tobaccos, at first puff it didn't blow me away but I do not dislike it. I'm going to cellar one tin and try it after some time. I'll continue with the opened tin and see how it goes. It is a bit different than a lot of lat blends that I've tried over the years. Good bad or indifferent, time with my pipe is always beneficial.

🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹 This was the first English blend I've ever tried that I liked. For me I really enjoyed the Smokiness of the blend. It had a nice subtle sweet nutty finish for me. I'm gonna have to stock up on this while I can. Then find something similar once its gone.

I thought this an ok English blend, but didn't quite hit the right notes for me. It was a pleasant smoke, with a nice hint of sweetness to go along with the Latakia. I wasn't blown away, but I'll be able to enjoy the rest of the tin. 😊😊😊

🤔🙄🙄🙄 Absolutely love thus blend. I enjoy English blends and this was my first Dunhill blend to enjoy. My first bowl took me completely off guard. For me a really mellow latakia offering that good light woodsy/pepper flavor followed up by a sweetness flavor that took my by surprise. Hard for me to pin the sweetness but I was awesome. So glad I was able to buy more of it in bulk for to cellar. This will be in my rotation from now on. The only down side I could say about this is it seemed a bit dried out not bad but it could be better. But since I'm unfamiliar with Dunhill that may be how it comes. All in all a great smoke and I wish unwound have tried is sooner

😀😀😀😀 This was a nice blend. I had just finished deep cleaning the pipe I used for this the day before, so I think I got a pretty good taste of the blend. Smooth and I thought it was a bit velvety. Definitely latakia forward but the oriental and Macedonian where there too

☺☺☺ this is my first English blend. The first bowl blew me away with the latakia. The 2nd (now knowing what to expect) went over much better. Definitely not wet and burns great. Latakia is the driver and to me never goes away. However it definitely is mellowed if you don't smoke it fast. I couldn't pick up a distinctive flavor of Cavendish or Virginia but this could be due to my pallette or that the rest are blended so well. I wasn't overwhelmed with it but for my first english, I liked it. I'd be very curious to see how this ages a bit. Now I want to try other English blends and compare. Thanks for the backstory muttnchop! Always learning from you.

I don't get any vanilla at all but it's kind of more of a dark sweetness sort of molasses like more than caramel in my opinion. It's my first real foray into the English blends. The Smokiness was a bit offputting at first since I was primarily an aromatic smoker previously but the more I smoke it the more I enjoy this blend.

⚾️⚾️ I’ve smoked three bowls of this and find that it loses its flavor faster than I like. To me it smelled and tasted more like a cigar. With about a third of the bowl left, I’m tasting ash tray more than anything else. Totally agree on Latakia driving the bus, however I didn’t detect any sweetness. I’ll keep my tin but will only choose this once in awhile. Smoked this in a Nording Freehand and a Stanwell billiard w/9mm filter.

* * * This was one of the first blends I tried and I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it so much that it made me want to find other English blends that I liked as much or more. Since embarking on this journey, I have not returned to 965 as often as I would have guessed. For me, this is sort of a standard flavor profile done well. The Orientals stood out to me a little more but overall pretty balanced. I am on the fence between 3 and 4 stars and will go with 3 since there is the intangible aspect that I just do not seem to reach for it very often despite knowing I really enjoyed it. Definitely one I will come back to and reassess.

My throat was scratchy for a few days during which I could also catch a hint of the after taste of the smoke. May try again in the future.

I tried My Mixture 965 when I started smoking authentic Oriental-Latakia tobacco. And to tell you the truth, I didn't like it at all. I tried hard to like the stuff, but in the end, I gave up. I am not an inhaler - to me, all the essence lies in the taste - and that stuff was harsh to the mouth, too peppery, bland, without that inner subtle play of the various tobaccos. A comparison between MM965 and the Germains' labels, for instance, was putting MM964 to shame. Maybe a former cigarette lover would appreciate it more. Maybe it was the batch...

🥃🥃🥃 I had not tried this tobacco but had been sitting on a couple tins for almost a year. Nice moisture level out of the tin. It smoked well with no drying time. Latakia forward tin note but not overpowering. Abundant, soft , smooth smoke. Initially I get a bit of sweetness Latakia is not as heavy as I had expected. I got more smoky flavor on the retrohale or when using the breath method. About a third of the way into the bowl the Latakia steps up. A little sweetness and a touch of dried fruit. Consistently mild and dry throughout the bowl. A nice smoke, would smoke again.

☺☺☺ Dunhill is way over rated but this is one of Dunhill's better blends. I found the tin is better than the bulk but unlike Muttnchop, I find that the Orientals are more forward than the Latakia. Since this blend and Dunhill in general is going away, I suggest to anyone to try Kramer's Father Dempsey. It's like 965 but way better.

When you receive your tobacco if it’s past the month we reviewed the blend, smoke it, then leave a comment telling us what you thought of the blend plus a rating 1 to 5 emoji’s. If it’s an upcoming blend, smoke it, then when you see my review video pop up, leave a review of your own plus a rating at that time.
