I loved the personality Donnie put into his character. A bit of playfulness with some added flourish after making a kill. The way he just quickly punctures his opponenta with the sword. And my favorite: Vincent: "remember your daughter" Caine: "FUCK OFF!"
Yeah that was an amazing part. Vincent is such a snake and a vile person. He played that role nicely tho. Especially when the sand was running in the beginning and he was making his coffee and licking the spoon 🥄 😂what a prick
I never saw Caine as a Baddie. In fact he and John have so much in common. Like him he already left the killing business and was forced back into it by a certain circumstance. He is also an honorable warrior. If the circumstances were actually different, like we knew him before John Wick, Id probably find myself rooting for him. Oh please please please..... do a spinoff with Caine. Hopefully Chad Stahelski will still direct.
@@GABRIELA-ACEVEDO. Actually he did not even wanna kill Shimazu. He at one point already gave up fighting him. He even says "Just take care of your Daughter" then turns his back. Only for Shimazu to keep coming after him so Caine had to kill him in self-defense.
@@travis2157 I just hope that Chad Stahelski will still be the director and they keep the original stunt team. The matrix resurrections sucked because though it kept the original director, the Yuen Woo Ping Stunt team was really missed.
The beauty of Cain is that he wasn't born blind. He offered up his eye sight at one point during his career and had to adapt to being sightless. Basically he's the Wick-verse equivalent of daredevil. Btw whoever came up with the idea of Cain using those motion sensor doorbells he put all over the kitchen needs a raise and pizza size cookie.
Caine makes zero sense as an assassin. How does he identify his targets? How does he not simply get shot by someone with a rifle? Plot armor king right there lol
@@roguewookiee He probably identifies them by voice? And honestly, getting lucky is also a part of it. Regardless of how you feel about the movies, you have to admit that John is incredibly lucky.
The first time i saw the trailer Cane shooting John rappindly during close combat scene but not hitting him, i thought its was dumb. Learning he was blind answered that question. I remember Cane checking the chamber of his gun if its loaded by sticking his finger into the chamber, that small detail means the director is well aware of people used to guns.
During his first fight in the Osaka continental Caine utilises rapid punching on an unlucky opponent which is a great reference to the ip man movies in which Donnie Yen would use rapid punching as one of ip man’s staple moves. I jumped out of my seat with glee during this moment. Caine was the movie’s MVP & Yen is a badass. This movie was awesome.
Couldn't agree more Donnie yen was astounding reeves no doubt the goat of getting in shape to kick ass and do it with the fluency of a ballet Mr nobody was insane! Him and John are almost equal that trio against the high table would devastate
@@jeremyarrington9427 Career wise he hasn't much, but the last few years he's taken up a few roles in which cussed a lot more, at least in Chinese. Including throwing up the middle finger in Special ID.
It's a good thing the John Wick franchise brings back old amazing actors like Mark Dacascos and Donnie Yen it's really good to see them back in big blockbuster movies after all this time
Donnie Yen gave an Oscar worthy performance in this movie. Every single time he was on scene or even in the background. You just had to focus on him. Props to Scott Adkins Killia too!
it's some of the best physical acting I've ever seen. I don't just mean the fights and stunts and obvious stuff - his body language, the way he moves and talks and how he works the conceit of him being blind into that is just so cool and stylised in every single scene - he even made the card-playing scene mesmerising. I think of the John Wick franchise as 'what if video games were a movie' and he's the pinnacle of that idea, he's the most video-gamey character ever seen in a movie (in the best possible way)
Our boy Caine may not make it. I Feel maybe the new movie may be the girl taking revenge on all the people who helped john wick and he not really grieving her father
@@Destro384ru Caine is shifty, but I can see that storyline, on the train she said “either you kill him, or I will” I can’t see her waging war with Winston or Bowery tho.
Caine is exclusively a retired High Table assassin. He's definitely the among the best in the world and most likely rivals John in skill. You can say the blindness nerfed him or perhaps made him even better but despite the disability, he matches John and has full control of a fight just as he does.
Oh without a doubt honestly I would say he could flat-out beat John wick with swords or fists, I mean I would put my money on Kaine. If it was firearms I would put it on wick
@@SodiumSyndicate Go watch more of it. The speed depends the actors and what they were doing. People like Donnie Yen are known for holding back their speed so that their movements can be tracked properly by the cameras. Hong Kong stars have made statements about this going back decades.
The producer did plan to do both John Wick 4 and 5 at the same time but he stop thinking that the quality is more important than getting more movie out. For now, John Wick 5 might be ongoing on writing part.
@@yoriichiiii you know hollywood can always come up with a story line. I'm thinking it's plausible. but in order for that to happen it must be believable. otherwise, fans are just gonna say...it's all about the money.
Caine didn't pretend to be blind. During the fight at Osaka Continental, there are moments where he would stop and listen when he faced John Wick. When he was already lying there. That and when he used the sensors to help him sense movements.
@@lpjunction that part seems like a flex to increase the mystique of Caine's character because there was no signs given to us how he could have figured out his cards... unless his fingers are some how so sensitive that he could sense the thickness of the ink on the card?
Caine wasn't always blind. It is said by Caine himself in the first half of the movie that he lost high eyes and sight briefly talking to the Nobody Tracker guy due to the High Table just like John Wick when he lost his wedding ring and finger to the high table. And Caine himself said it was by his hands there were offered up by some bargin. Loosing his sight, he became the blind assasin after that.
But didn't he tell "Nobody" that the high table didn't make him give his eyes? It sounded like he volunteered to give them. I couldn't really understand that part.
HE WILL BE DIRECTING THE FAITHFUL YET BADASS LEGENDARY ENTERTAINMENT REMAKE FILM ADAPTATION OF 1989 CULT CLASSIC FILM CALLED "BLIND FURY" WHICH IS BASED ON TOHO, SHOCHIKU & KADOKAWA'S "ZATOICHI" FILM & TV SERIES CREATED BY THE LATE AUTHOR KAN SHIMOZAWA & DONNIE YEN WILL BE THE PERFECT CASTING AS THE BLIND WAR VETERAN WHO FIGHTS EVILDOERS IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE INNOCENT. 😎👊💥🎬🎥
ACTUALLY, his only real fights were at Osaka Continental. After that, he was working with the bad guys, so they didn't want hurt him. Also, in the shootout, the floor/pebbles pattern helped him recognize which direction was straight.
The next 2 Wick movies should be a Prequel of how the High Table and the assassins came to be and the next film should be the origin story of John Wick. Also, I'm willing to bet that Mr. Nobody is associated to Halle Berry's character in Wick 3. The dog was a giveaway. Plot twist... John Wick isn't dead. He faked it so rogue assassins wouldn't come after him. I bet Wick will surprisingly return in later films.
I hate when Hollywood does this, he made an epic sacrifice and finished his life on his terms. For him to come back it would only cheapen his death IMHO.
i think that if he did fake his death, we’ll probably only see him for a little bit because he would want to stay away from everyone to live his own life
@@zaberfang I think Akira, Koji's daughter, the Japanese woman from Osaka Continental, in John Wick: Chapter 4, will continue the latter of the John Wick film franchise, if they decide to continue it.
its a bit strange how in one of the scenes in the beginning of the movie he used the motion detector bells to help him out pinpoint his enemies position, and so they implied that he invented a bunch of tricks to compensate for his blindness. but then they just never used something like that again, and just gave him daredevil superpowers for the rest of the movie.
Yes finally , someone noticed it. Yeah kinda sucks character😂 They intend we just gonna watch the movie and not questioning what's going on! How the hell blind man can toe to toe of swordfight and can dodge a bullets lmfao. Understandable if he is Daredevil
@@shelbywilliams5912 then why bother with doing it once though? they should be more consistent with it. either suspend disbelief completely and give him daredevil powers, or just a little bit and make him more the crafty type who works around his blindness with tricks. i think they mixed up two character archetypes. its not so bad because its just one scene and they didnt flip flop back and forth with it through the whole movie, but it felt still a bit strange.
@@Stone7C1 I mean I agree with you but I think that's why they just at the end of the day they chose to make a more streamlined for its characters and go with the second route it would have been an interesting to see what ideas they could have made for it... But I can also see it from their point of view framing editing and shooting extra shots for it would have probably over tick their budget for how many stunts people they have, the locations that they had to lock down stuff like that
I believe Johns' next appearance will be in "Fast and furious and 15, The Past Returns" where we find out that John Wick had given a marker to the "Old Lady" (She is the highest member of the table) and she is actually Dominic Torettos' mom. She now wants to kill her son (Dom) for "reasons" and John Wick is the only person who can take the team down.
One of Caine's character virtues appears to be mercy. He appears far more merciful than even JW, in the sense that he goes out of his way to try to avoid killing the cannon fodder when circumstances permit it. This was reflected throughout the Osaka Continental fight. His effort to parley with Koji is another reflection of his attempts at mercy.
Johns 20 pace shot was more damaging to blind guy, he was stumbling and said nice one when he got hit. Wick did not show as much damage. This further shows john was set to win but decided to spare his friend.
I rlly feel like they purposely went along just to get closer to Marquis after each round bc those guns tend to be inaccurate a lot of the time, but then again he is still John wick and he is still Caine so I’m betting at least John would’ve been able to hit that target
I believe that John Wick is not dead given the ending being open to interpretation. I look forward to the next chapter when it happens & John Wick 4 was nothing short of outstanding.
My theory is that Caine purposely gave up his eyes thinking he could retire, thinking that the high table wouldn't bother themselves with a blind man. Like John wick having to do an impossible task to get out in the first movie, Caine must have done something substantial as well. But considering how skilled he is while blind, he must have continued to work even after losing his sight. So I'm guessing either the table didn't accept his retirement, or like John he tipped his toes back in the water and got sucked back in.
I believe in order to rejoin the high table or taking a punishment from the high table you have to give something out for example john have to give his finger and wedding ring to the elder. I guess Caine broke some rule that is why he have to give up his eyes to protect his daughter. Once you break the rules, something is taken away like with Winston, he was stripped off his manager role, hotel was destroyed and his second man was killed, or with the King he gave john a gun and 7 bullet so he was slash multiple time by assassin, or Nobody inorder to join the high table he was stabbed in his hand. There are many instants.
Loved Donnie Yen. I don't think we can have a John Wick 5 without Keanu. Maybe spinoff or prequels. But if he has in fact died it wouldn't be John Wick with Jojwn Wick himself. I believe he will survive because now his family has a spot on the High Table.
Caine on my opinion is the most dangerous assassin in John Wick Franchise movie. If he wasn't blind he would beat John Wick no question about it. He knows John Wick so well and that is a very big plus. But on the duel part both are almost equal but John Wick I think has a bigger advantage but he does not really plan to kill Caine at the start of the duel because his an old friend a true friend who is just force to fight him against his will for the sake of his daughter. It's also a way of thanking him for saving his life many times before the duel. Caine / Donnie Yen has been my idol for decades. His one of my favorite along side Jet Lee. I watched most his movies during my teenage and adult years. Salute to his superb performance on this movie and Also Mr. John Wick himself. I highly recommend this movie....the best so far for me in the John Wick Movie franchise.....I hope thier will still be a another John Wick movie and that movie will include Mr. Caine and other old time characters and explain everything and really put the real ending of this movie franchise 👍💪👊👌👏🥰🇵🇭
Honestly there are many assassin that may match Caine for example Marcus in the first movie, he have many opportunities to kill john wick, if he wanted to he would have kill him easily, he stalked his prey and find the right opportunity to snipe, or the Shinobi brothers they technically defeated john wick, they gave john wick two chance to live because they want to test out their skill.
“If I had a nickel for every time Donnie Yen plays a badass Blind guy who is both proficient in Gun and Hand to hand combat, I would have two nickels. Not a lot but -weird- awesome that it happened twice”
Caine is probably helping John fake being dead to evade the High Table. As for the High Table, beginning with the 2nd movie, Media Zealot should cover them in one of their "Too Stupid..." videos. The High Table's marker obligated John to kill... then he was condemned to death for fulfilling that obligation. John being excommunicated from that hotel for killing on its grounds made sense... but the High Table marking John for death, no matter his choice in the marker obligation, was just plain stupid.
Nah... Zatoichi can see with his ears. Caine clearly cannot, and has to compensate using educated guess work, clever tricks and techniques, and extrapolation.
Donnie Yen is always amazing in every film he’s in. But I think he finally got to shine to the world and mainstream audiences with JW4. Same with Scott Adkins they deserve accolades and recognition after this film. But I love Caine’s honour. He could of let the assassins wipe John Wick out before sunrise and he would automatically have his debt to the High Table, without any risk to him. But he decided to help his friend to the top of the stairs to an eventual duel that he knew would potentially result in his own death. I can’t wait for a Caine spinoff film. Donnie can easily carry his own franchise.
@@royalkakarot3628 I mean he’s not wrong. If you put a blind person in a dark room that person will find his way better than a person with eyes and no flashlight. Look it up I forgot what it’s called but there are blind people that can for example concentrate on things we tend not to concentrate with our own eyes. It doesn’t mean they can dodge bullets or stuff it’s just that since they ain’t got eyes they compensate 😂
@@royalkakarot3628 for example in a dark room there are studies that bats can use echolocation to find their way through. Same with blind dudes they can hear sounds better than us and they use that to find their way through a dark place. Impressive but still no blind person would beat me in any trivia game 😂
This isn't the origins of a character this is a recap of the film. No mention of spoilers I wanted to watch information on a character before I even watched the film. 😢😅
John Could’ve Killed Cane.. But John Saw The Bigger picture. His true target , was Marquis. Why leave this earth 🌎 knowing your opponent is still living. John Was actually smart & Winston himself knew John full potential
I have a feeling that Caine was the impossible task John Wick did. It was mentioned in John Wick 1. John Wick tend not to kill friends, can be seen many times from John Wick 1-4.
He definitely has stamina and endurance beyond that of Wolverine. Even Chad Stahelski joked about him having an adamantium spine due to taking all those falls.
Keanu gave praise to Donnie yen, Scott Adkins, and the guy who played Scorpion in the mortal kombat remake for being legit martial artists who act, while he's not like them but was happy to work with them
