There are some major design issues with this figure. Robot mode is great though. Get yours at BigBadToyStore.com www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/pr... Twitter: / baltmatrix Facebook: / baltmatrixreviews
In summary, once I solved the triple face rotation aspect I had absolutely no issues with this figure. Jet, Robot, and Tank work well for me and all tabs and receptors work as they should. Additionally, the shoulder area also tabs in as it should for my figure, if it didn't there is another sanding-mod that will solve that issue as well.
Hasbro used to be quite good but it seems their standards has dropped. Price wise is ok I guess, maybe they're trying to sell more by lowering the price and thus throwing away quality? Some of the paint finish in some figurines are just horrible.
I still have this toy and although it had a ton of issues and QC problems, there is just something about the plane mode that I love. It reminds me of Macross. It also displays really well in its Alt mode. I picked up the Legacy Blitzwing a month ago and that one is obviously way better but there's just something about this one's aesthetics that I like. Also, mine pegged in just fine. Just don't be afraid to push. And yeah, I know this video is ancient. Lol. :P
Same. I enjoyed the jet mode this Blitzwing had. I also got the Legacy Blitzwing specifically to replace this one, and it's better in every way. The only downside to the Legacy Blitzwing is his sword. It's more rubbery and weak rather than hard plastic like the one in this video.
This figurine hasn't aged well at all. I recently picked up the Legacy Blitzwing to replace it. My figure of this character broke within a month after I got it, and over time, the back of his head started to crack and his legs were loose from the beginning. The only silver lining of this version of Blitzwing, is his jet mode. I displayed it in comparison to my other jet mode Transformers like Jetfire, Starscream, Thundercracker, Snapdragon, Windblade, and Ramjet. He looked better than some of them, but his tank mode could use some improvement.
The flip-out covers are on the same joint, you can only rotate the wrist when they're flipped out for alt mode(s), in robot mode they're tucked into the arms and lock the wrists in place.
I was hopping to complete the decepticons triplechangers with BW as a solid figure like Astrotrain. It´s a shame all this design issues. The robot really looks great.
Hasbro is really dropping the ball with Generations by forgetting that there are Generations other than G1 and FOC. I want to see some Generations Beast, UC, or Animated, or RID.
Do you think the nose cone would have been better if there was a small indent where it was supposed to plug in inside the cockpit, and of course if it was regular hard plastic. With just the grey part being soft plastic?
I didn't had trouble with the nose cone, nor the head pushing down. Both worked great, but the biggest issue is that it doesn't conceal the head properly. And also I hated the way the figure breaks down during transformations, and they don't snap into place easily.
I have gotten floppy, badly painted "Real" ( not K.O.'s ) masterpiece figures.Sometimes other Transformers have issues. I have Blitzwing and mine pegs like it is susposed to, I don't know why. Do you know if in later production runs they fixed him. I don't care what every one says I love my Blitzwing. I will admit I leave him in robot mode all the time. I think I transformed him two times total.
um can blitzwing hold his sword like the 00 gundam's GN.sword 2 gun mode because If he can ill buy 2 so he can duel-wild the GN.sword 2 one in gun mode and one in sword mode or both in one mode
Hey baltmatrix please tell me if the blitz wing in Springer pre order figures are out for shipping At big bad toy store how where you able to your Copy
yeah other than the shoulders and nose cone im fine with the guy, when i bought him i thought it was alot worse that it was once i started playing with it a bit more
You forgot to unfold the hip panels to fill in the front of the tank (everyone does). I like the figure but yeah those shoulders are awful. I wish they'd at least fixed that for Double Dealer :(
An honest review, thanks for sharing your issues, I agree the bot mode looks great, though i think he should have been more broad shouldered, and the chest made me think of starscream and the other F18's jets, from G1, I don't think i will get him based on your issues, maybe they'll be a remold later on made, I have the hound generations and love him! I got it from a friend that I was helping with a garage sale, though he's a lil hard to change back to a 'jeep', though he looks great in bot form
Just got my blitzwing and it's not actually that bad must admit the head and the arms is a slight worry and i managed to peg the arms in jet mode and the tank mode is really good now just waiting on springer
Usually I agree with your reviews, in this case not so much. I do believe there is some minor QC issues here but they're fixable for the most part. I had an issue with my face rotation, but it was due to over-painting within the face rotation which I sanded down and it now works perfectly. During your review you stated that the arms did not tab into place while in jet mode, however mine tab'd in just fine with no issues. My only complaint is due to the rubber nose which should be hard plastic.
My one of these tabs and pegs together fine just my brother broke the entire nose cone off and lost some of the parts. Anyway I love your vidios your the best tf youtuber
So he has three faces but he still can move his head 360°, and there´s also a spring loaded gimmick in there. The torret also moves 360°, despite being the back of the robot mode and being composed by various pieces... I guess there was no money left for good quality plastic.
I like the way the figure looks, but the quality control issues are just ridiculous. Mine's even worse than yours. The head wont stay down on mine either, but bc of this I cant fold in the nose-cone! It just keeps popping back out, the head wont stay in even slightly. And my legs don't want to peg in either, though I don't see any 'spikes of plastic' like you mentioned. This figure would be great if it wasn't for the QC issues. I mean, this is ridiculous. What the hell happened?
Me I like to peg that sword onto the top of that one blaster that came with the recent Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus, then take the dual swords from FOC Vortex and the dual pistols from FOC Blast Off and clip them into the blaster's sides in whatever formation I feel like forming a five barreled laser shooting sword mounted monstrosity I like to call the TYNA (Tear You a New Asshole).
Yeah you didn't try very hard. Those trapezoidal pegs on the arms fit into the rectangular holes just fine on mine with no forcing or modding. Got it together pretty damn solid. Gotta agree with the shoulder issue though. That's just odd engineering there.
Yeah, I thought something felt wrong about this figure in the pictures I saw before I watched this. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it just seemed too good to be true. Turns out my intuition was right. Welp, I shall enjoy Springer very much!
Would you say Springer is better or worse than Blitzwing in terms of playability? I bought both at a slight discount but I can sell one. BTW, thanks for reviewing this guy so early.
Thanks for all the warnings, but i think i might end of getting him. I like the design too much and I really want to see the engineering of it (flawed as it may be) in person. Still awesome review thanks for sharing your honest opinion.
Absolutely. Luckily the TF community have noticed this was a mistake from him and not the figure. It has some flaws, sure, but after watching other reviews I am sure I want it.
you know when you buy a new figure and you start to fidling whit it, but you finsd something you dont like at first glance, but you keep playing whit it, and eveltually you found that "that issue" was just a thigth articulation? i think that is what happenned with this review, i mean, is not a bad review, but it shows some problmes whit the figure itself, maybe someone else will find a way to get those issues corrected in an easy manner
When I was playing with the figure, I had some major problems: 1. Like everyone, the peg to where the shoulders pegged in to its torso comes off so easy that is not even funny. 2. The paint on his head, for some unknown reason, starts to dry out and some of that yellow paint was on his nose cone when transforming it. You know what's worse, I got this guy at Target at one point and got rid of it all in pieces because it was the worst toy that I ever got.
Mine just arrived, all modes hold themselves very well and a small adjustment on the shoulder assemblis didn't require any sanding and holds the amrs in place perfectly
I was actually looking foward to having a triplechanger, though I started to get an inkling that blitzwing may not be all that great after seeing some photos of him (in some photos, you can clearly see that he doesn't hold together well in jet mode). I think springer looks alot better anyway (at least, in the photographs).
