Wreckers don't call for backup, they call for cleanup! Get The Ruination set HERE: www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/pr... Twitter: / baltmatrix & Nightbeat Facebook: / baltmatrixreviews
Little known fact: That head sculpt on "Ruination" is actually Emerit Xaron , a Senator from Iacon, out of the old Transformers UK series. He was a MAJOR player in the Wreckers stories, planed and funded all their original missions, and was a personal friend to Impactor.
another thing I like about the ruination set is the fact that I'm glad that ruination is an autobot combiner version of bruticus because the rid ruination team was originally a crew of autobots in the rid anime
+Quantum Leap You mean Rotorstorm. Who's last words were "WRECKERS COMBINE!!" The helicopter dude with the magenta visor who got murderlated by the almighty bad-ass Decepticon boss, Overlord.
Wow Ive watched so many fall / war for cybertron toy reviews and you are the only guy that said that the gun could be from the games and which one it could be
Just finished my Ruination set today and I can't wait to combine this guy!!! I actually never purchased the Bruticus figures b/c I was waiting for the Year of the Snake SDCC / Grimlock version... So this will be my very first Combiner of the new lines and if you can't tell, I am so very stoked!!!
Ruination is the combined form of the Commandos, the Decepticons' military squad. While the minds and bodies of all five Commandos come together to make him, Armorhide, Movor, Rollbar and Ro-Tor cede all control to their leader Mega-Octane to make Ruination a more coordinated, intelligent and deadly warrior, whose only interest is in fighting. Ruination is so fierce that even Megatron is wary around him.
This version of ruination is the combined form of the wreckers from IDW comics. They just used the name Ruination, but this version of the character has nothing to do with original, other than being a remake of another Bruticus, just like the 2001 RID toy
When using Twintwist/Brawl as an arm your transformation has one more step. If you grab him by the hips and pull them slightly towards the combiner port you can rotate them down giving him a swivel joint.
My local Walmart finally got these guys in, well all except Impactor. I'll have to check again in a few days to see if they stocked him. I'm loving the colors, especially for Roadbuster and Twin Twist which look much better than their Combaticon counterparts.I wish that there was more orange on Topspin though, all the white looks out of place next to the others.
Actually, they based the concept off of the old G1 Scramble City toyline which allowed any one member of the team (Aside from the core bot) to assume the role of any limb (Of which Bruticus, Superion, Abominus, Computron, Defensor, and Menasor were all part of). This concept was also applied to the Energon Combiner molds as well.
thanks Balmatrix I got this set because of this review. I only wanted Impactor but I had to get the rest from HTS with 25% off + free shipping last week.
Hell yea I just picked this guy up on Ebay for 65 bucks free shipped complete with everything including packaging! Literally bought it right after watching this video haha. I don't own the FOC Bruticus mold nor do I ever plan on it because it's garbage but this guy looks sweet and I love the wreckers continuity.
A good review there Mr Matrix. I can report similar problems with whirl's gun, although in my case, the side ports are too loose to take the daggers as well. Impactor also has the same elbow issue. Something to note however, you can store every single weapon on ruination. Not in a sensible manner mind you, but twin twist's weapon is a great knuckle duster.
Seeing this review reminded me of how much I want a 'Robot Replicas' line which mimics the customisation in Fall of Cybertron. Buy a bunch of parts in the colour needed, swap them, make your own Transformer to remind you of all the punching and shooting you did on Cybertron.
Bit of a mis transformation on Twintwist; pull the cannons back to clip into front of the tank mode, then tab the barrels of the cannons into the thrusters. Creates a more pauldron look.
Nice review. I might pick the set up when it comes out. Just a heads up, Onslaught and Impactor upper thighs do rachet for posibitlty, but they are extremely tight and you have to be careful when breaking them free. But once you get em moving, they loosen up enough where to you can use those joints and not be scared. Nice video again video.
Great review, just picked these guys up at Walmart today, they had all 5 and I debated and said hell with it, the look great, Balmatrix will u do a quick 1-2 min video when u switch the figures, think it'd be cool to see
Personally i dig the wrecker repaints, as 4 the G1 bruticus, i like the G2 version better that's why i picked that one instead and waitn on my Ruination joint 2 come any day now, great vid!
tfsource only got my Springer/Blitzwing in stock last week. can be a real pain, but also useful sometimes, if reviews start coming in that make you reconsider a pre-order. they've still got good customer service too, so I'm not switching yet. thinking of getting these guys. Impactor!
my Impactor has a factory defect :( the piece with the ball joint and the ratchet in his arm was put on backwards and now it cant go all the way back for the ruination transformation... :/
I know what I need to do! (If it's possible, that is) I'm going to use some of the robots from Bruticus and use them to replace some of the robots combined to make Ruination.
Actually, they are different characters all together. They form the core of the Wreckers and could have been done with any number of other molds, but in one of the comics, Whirl (the helicopter) made a joke about them combining into a bigger robot. Looking over this set, it is a barrage of homages. Each Wrecker's colour is based off of their IDW appearances, their weapons are either reminiscent of their old toys or the FoC game and the combined mode's head is the same as Emirate Xaaron's.
sorry for not remember their name, in combine mode, not-swindle's hands should grab on to the peg-like things under the bumper. for not-brawl, you can actually pull down (or forward) his waist to give ruination a longer and better articulated arm (although it's not much).
Actually, the FoC figures are all part of the Generations line itself. The line actually started off with releases of several characters in toys based off of their War For Cybertron appearances back when the games were considered a reimagining of the G1 continuity and not part of the Aligned Continuity with Prime. (I still consider these as part of the G1 timeline) This is why the toys being released in this line have very heavy influences from the original G1 and the IDW G1 continuities.
Back in 2001, Ruination was the name of a Decepticon combiner (also a Bruticus repaint), and this is (as far as I know) the only use of the name since.
Ruination looks like a giant autobot that got his arms and left leg destroyed and he was rebuilt with the remains of other dead autobots to make him whole again.
balt the original bruticus mold was used in the platinum edition in which it sports a transformers fall of cyberton videogame color scheme just so you know
Amazing what passed for a good combiner even 5 years ago. We've been spoiled, to the point where the resell value of older xformers are starting to hit zero.
Impactor head reminds me of Iron hide from G1. i did purchase him and used his head as Ironhide and the Ruination head as Megatron's custom head on my Brawl (body) figure to make the G2/Armada Megatron custom.
Since I already have an assembled Bruticus, I could use an Autobot counterpart. Though I may end up skipping on Whirl and getting the TFSS Ironfist/Fisitron redeco of Roadbuster though, since we're getting a Voyager Whirl in early 2014.
