Just got mine today. I love this figure. I display it in a case with the g1 figure and they are stunning together. This generations figure truly is one of the best. It is definitely what a gen. figure is supposed to be a new vision of a g1 classic. Great review.
Sandstorm and Springer Okay, hear me out... Springer and Sandstorm are basically brothers (being similar and all), but when the Great War started, Springer sided with the autobots and Sandstorm with the decepticons [the name, imo, sounds more fitting]. They fight each other as arch rivals during battles of the 2 sides, but between fights, they still get along and try to convince the other to switch sides.
Springer looks different and they transform into two different vehicles. In the cartoons he was using the two forms before he met Springer and lived on Velocitron before he came to Earth
I actually saw this at walmart like a month ago, but it sold before I could get it, and they have yet to get another one, though they do have 2 more blitzwings and 2 springers sitting there.
He could have used a new mold and it would work, to be honest, I would have loved that too. XD But this figure, being what it is, is really great. It could have been a bit more like Sandstorm, but overall I'm happy to own it.
Well, Sandstorm was a buggy and Helicopter, a remold of Springer is the only thing that could work. They probably made him a VETOL to make it different than Springer.
I have found that on the feet there are two small notches that keep the feet from movie too much, and that when you put the feet in the middle position it is much easier to pose and stand him, ust a small solution I found
I can understand where you're coming from, but that's technically the official transformation - even the early concept art has the tail pointing up, probably as a throwback to the G1 toy. For me, I usually go with the canon, so I display mine pointing up too.
My Sandstorm's shoulder pads (the ones covering the wheels) are really tight. The plastic on the peg is a millimeter too thick, so I literally have to rip off Sandstorm's arm before I can pull the pad out.
I can turn Sandstorm into a submersible vehicle. Start in VTOL mode. Leave the VTOL canopy in position, then move the car fenders forward, and do the side fins like for Springer. Then move the bottom half of the legs like for buggy mode. Turn the thrusters so the turbine blades are pointing forwards. Adjust the tail boom however looks best, as long as the tailfins are pointing back . It doesn't lock together on the top part, but it does look like some kind of submarine. The gun can mount top or bottom. When I get Springer, I'll try for a sub mode for him.
I actually Really like the Mis-Transformed version of the Vtol more than the proper configuration. It looks like a neat way of further separating Sandstorm and Springer's aerial alt modes from each other and IMO looks more elegant by looking like a streamlined Vtol at 5:41.
My friction fire missile is the lamest thing I've ever seen, only goes about 3 inches. XD I really like this figure, I fold his kibble a bit more back so it's not in the way as much, albeit the G1 accuracy decreases when I do so (but he looks sleeker when it's on his back). Cheers, great review!
