Are you fed up with ads ruining your web browsing and slowing down your internet searches?
In this video we'll check out a network-wide, free and open source ad-blocking solution called Pi-hole; first taking a look at how it works, then going step-by-step through the installation and setup procedure.
For the purpose of this video, we'll be using a Raspberry Pi, which is ideal for the task due to its budget price and low power consumption, but the software will work on any computer running Linux.
We'll cover applying ad-blocking to your entire home network, or just to select devices. Plus, you'll see how to easily view graphs and lists revealing the traffic (website domains) being accessed on your local network.
As an added bonus, you'll discover how the software can even be used as a basic web filter - blocking websites you'd sooner weren't accessible at home.

Well done.... I have watched two of your videos so far, and I must compliment you on your videos. 1. You do not feel the need to entertain us with your choice of "music". 2. You thoroughly explain each step, including alternate methods of accomplishing the same task. 3. You speak clearly, enunciating each word, while maintaining much the same volume and speed of delivery. 4. You not only tell the commands and/or sites, but you illustrate them with screenshots and text shots which are invaluable to those of us who are hearing challenged. All in all, you could educate a good many youtubers on proper procedures. Oh, almost forgot, you also fast forward when the computer is busy instead of feeling the need to ramble on while the computer is processing. Excellently done, and you earned a subscription. I hope that I will be able to emulate your delivery when I crank up my on channel in a week or so. Best regards from the banks of the Suwannee River in North Florida, USA.

Thank you very much for your kind feedback. I try to plan the videos to cover each topic in an easy to understand methodical manner, hopefully brightening up the duller technical theory with pictures and animation. Good luck with your future RU-vid channel - send me a link when you're up and running.

Very informative step by step guide. 👍 Which hardware version of Raspberry Pi you have used for this project?

I used a Raspberry Pi Model 4 B, but Pi-hole should also run fine on a Pi 3 Model B+. Thanks for your feedback.
