BLOOD LUST!! Overlord Season 1 Episode 10 Reaction 

Glad you're enjoying Overlord! The story and world-building only get better over time, though I will say to keep an eye out for the YT comments for some insightful details that were left out of the anime. Also, liking the new format of pausing to talk.

I imagine this episode is very confusing to non-novel-readers and had a lot of information to take in, so let me clarify some things: Sebas and Solution are pretending to be a noble and a butler to bait bandits into attacking them. The bandits are then to be left to Shalltear, who was given orders by Ainz to capture someone with the ability to use Martial Arts, which are fighting skills used by warriors that didn't exist back in Yggdrasil. Ainz wanted more information about Martial Arts after meeting Gazef Stronoff, the Royal Head Warrior of the Re-Estize Kingdom, back in Carne Village. The anime didn't adapt the Solution eating Zach scene very well. In the novel, Zach is in shock when he sees everyone else murdered, but then when Solution drags him away from the fight, he thinks he's gonna be spared. Solution then strips, and Zach has a hard time differentiating reality and nightmare. So he grabs her breast, and by then, it's all over. The novel was much more grisly as well. Solution acts seductive before dissolving Zach's hand and laughs at his screams before swallowing him. When Shalltear asks her what happened to Zach, she lets Zach's arm emerge from her face, which can be seen trying to grab on to something. She then pushes the arm back in the body. And by the way, Solution's race is called Predator Slime. And if I remember correctly, they have the ability to keep their prey alive for a day if needed. Anyway, after baiting the criminals, Shalltear attacks their hideout in a cave, where she meets Brain Unglaus (blue hair mercenary who can use Martial Arts). 9:14 if you look closely, you can see Shalltear stopped the attack by pinching the sword from the other side. Shalltear has an ability called Blood Frenzy: the more blood Shalltear's body is covered in, the stronger she becomes. However, she will slowly lose control of her urge to slaughter, and start to massacre anyone she sees. This caused her to be distracted by the other bandits when chasing Brain Unglaus and he ultimately got away through a tunnel exit. One of Shalltear's Vampire Brides informs her that there is an unknown group outside approaching, which included Brita (red hair who received potion from Ainz). With Blood Frenzy still active, Shalltear goes out to massacre them. Healing potions are harmful to undead beings with negative energy. So when Brita threw the Minor Healing Potion she received from Ainz at Shalltear, it damaged her. Shalltear realized that it was a potion commonly seen in Nazarick, which caused her to come back to her senses, wondering what Brita's relation to Nazarick is and if she somehow messed up Ainz's plans. She then interrogates her with mind control. Shalltear panics when she realizes that she let Brain, as well as a ranger from Brita's group who was stationed further away, get away. She sends her Vampire Wolves to hunt them down, but they were quickly defeated by another unknown group. Shalltear engages the new unknown group, which is much stronger than the previous group. I'll leave it at there for now.

Hello friend, thank you for reacting to this Anime so loved by many. As always I will explain some things that may not have been clear based on the Light Novel material and extra content, always trying not to give any spoilers. First of all, I want to remind you that Overlord is not a typical "good guys" versus "bad guys" anime, but rather an Adams Family type of story, where there is a set world of rules and where the events should have unfolded in a certain direction, but then out of nowhere falls a group of dysfunctional deities that turn everything upside down. Chronologically, these events take place while Ainz is escorting the alchemist and before his confrontation with Clementine. At first they show us Sebastian and the Battle Maid Solution who are traveling to carry out an infiltration mission, but on the way to their destination they are taking the opportunity to lend a hand to Shalltear who has received instructions from Ainz to capture any powerful person among the bandits of the area, because its disappearance would not attract attention. In Nazarick there are no humans (except one) so all its members are monsters or heteromorphs. Such is the case of the Pleiades Solution, the blonde woman who is actually a type of protozoan-like monster called Slime, which fights by absorbing her enemies. It is said that her body is empty inside and she can choose to protect or dissolve the things she has absorbed. She can also control the speed of digestion. The fate of the unlucky bandit named Zach will be to spend many days being tortured by the acids of this monster until finally he is digested. Vampires next to Shalltear are auto-spawn NPCs, which means more of them will spawn even if they die. Peroronchino assigned them to be his "sexual slaves/servants". As I've already mentioned, Shalltear was designed as a cornucopia of fetishes by her creator, one of which is lesbian sadism. During the conversation in the carriage we see again that the NPCs see the players who created them as gods and so funny misunderstandings occur. Shalltear believes that the creator of Aura is a kind of mystical being who imbues inanimate objects with souls to create life. But she is actually a Seiyu or voice actress, who plays the role of characters in Anime and Erotic games. She "brings the characters to life." In the novel and Compilation Movie of the first season, there is an omitted fragment of conversation between the butler and Shalltear. Sebastian is worried about the “Blood Frenzy”, Shalltear's passive ability that makes her violent and irrational when she absorbs too much blood and could cause her to fail the mission. Shalltear responds to this in a violent and arrogant way, showing us how overconfident she is. She even seems willing to fight Sebastian to the death if he doesn't back down on her. But in the end, the butler's fears were true, because we see how Shalltear loses control when she transforms and ends up killing all the bandits that she originally came to capture. I agree with you that the way Shalltear holds Brain's Katana is the coolest. She not only held the sword with her fingers... but she did it from the back! The worst of all is that Brain was using potions to increase his power and also that circle of energy could only be seen by him, that's why Shalltear asks him later if he doesn't know any Martial Art. The disrespect is absolute and it's great. The reason Brain cries is, among many things, that he dedicated his whole life to getting stronger to defeat Gasef, to the point where he didn't mind joining a group of bandits in order to get more chances to fight. And he really believed that he was one of the strongest in the world and he really is, because Clementine mentions him as someone who could put up a fight. But in front of Shalltaer he understands that there is a degree of power that he can never reach even if he lives thousands of years. Ergo his lifelong goal "to be the strongest" never made sense. In Yggdrasil, True Vampires have a second form that gives them extra abilities, although they lose others in return. Both leech and gothic lolita forms are the true forms of Shalltaer, who can choose which to use based on his needs. A lot of NPCs in Nazarick have a "second form", including Albedo and Demiurge. In this episode, two disastrous coincidences happen to Shalltear. The first is that a group of adventurers just came to find the bandits she is hunting and when they see Shalltear, the leader starts shouting instructions emphasizing the words “she is a vampire”. This is because, for security reasons, they had left a "Ranger" hidden among the trees of the forest with the mission of escaping and reporting everything that happened to the Adventurers' Guild, but Shalltear does not realize this until it is very late because she is dominated by her "Blood Frenzy". Since Shalltear is undead, healing potions that "bring to life" deal damage to her instead of healing her. Of course it's light damage, but it's enough to irritate her a bit and snap her out of her Blood Frenzy. As Shalltear comes to her senses and runs to capture the Ranger, the next disastrous coincidence occurs: She runs into an elite group who happened to be there by chance. Shalltear doesn't know who they are, but she notices that one of them has as much strength as the Pleiades Solution, which is quite impressive for someone from the New World, because all the Battle Maids are around level 70. She tries to kill them, but it doesn't work out. Nothing good. One of the strangers manages to perform mind control magic on Shalltear even though this should be impossible, as all Undead have a natural immunity to mind control. However, it happened. But luckily, we see that Shalltear managed to kill the person who controlled her just before her spell took effect. That's why she stood still, waiting for orders that would never come. I take this opportunity to clarify a confusion: In the novel we are clearly told that Albedo is the NPC with "the highest hierarchical rank" within Nazarick. But due to a translation error, both in English and Spanish, this is often confused with "Albedo is the strongest NPC". Actually, the most powerful NPC in Nazarick is not any of the Guardians, but it is on the 8th floor and we don't know much about it so far, not even in the books. And the most powerful among the Floor Guardians is Shalltaer, that's why Albedo requests so many guardians in order to "exterminate" her. I hope that this has made everything that happened in this episode a little clearer. Now I don't want to spoil anything, but for the next chapter I want you to remember a historical fact: In World War II, Japan and Germany were Allies, so the Japanese perspective is a little different. Just keep it in mind.

Solution Epsilon (the blonde haired girl) is a slime monster taking on a human form, she's also one of the Plieades Battle Maids, she has a focus on thief skills and within her body is a massive space she can manipulate. She does take her time melting down Zach. Yes the potion HURT shalltear.... doing like 0.1% of her health as damage, it was weak more the fact Nazarick now knows potions should be blue so a red one must be from Nazarick. This causes her to panic thinking that Ainz must have given it to her for a purpose and she thinks she's screwing things up. Basically there was four factions that just 'happened' to be in the forest that night. 1 ~ Bandit group including Brain, there to rob people passing by Brains using them to train in actual combat against humans (since adventurers only deal with monsters). 2 ~ Shalltears group, here to look through the Bandits to find exceptional people or Martial Arts users to experiment on and learn from. Bandits unlikely to be missed are ideal targets. 3 ~ The adventurer team including Brita, were recruited as a Recon force to locate the Bandit Base for the authorities to deal with before Shalltear ran into them 4 ~ The team at the end, they were looking for a world threatening dragon to use an item on when they stumbled accross shalltears group. They used the item on Shalltear and retreated. (More details on excluded as Spoiler territory, esp for next few episodes.)

If you like Sebas this much in season 1 then I'm looking forward to your season 2 reaction. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Solution is a slime (hello Rimuru) so she can store things in her body like she sucked the coachman in, but she is a sadist and kept the coachman alive for several days as she used corrosive fluids to slowly dissolve him. Healing potions are toxic to the undead so the potion burned Shalltear slightly and it broke her blood frenzy.

The creator of Overlord took inspiration from D&D, and anything that heals normal beings in D&D hurts undead and evil beings. As far as Shalltear's and Solution's "looks", the creator was a big fan of what's known as "gap moe", aka portraying a character's looks as cute, while being dark and twisted on the outside. You'd be surprised what many characters(like the Pleiades maids) really look like. Hint: Ainz chose Narberal Gamma to accompany him because she can _appear the most human_ , and his initial impression of her is that she should be the one to look and act human enough. And Albedo doesn't really hate Shalltear, so much as the NPCs of Nazarick revere the Guild members of Ainz Ooal Gown as "Supreme Beings", so any form of disloyalty, no matter how little, is an affront worthy of death. As far as Shalltear goes, you'll piece together what happened to her soon.

I'm going to explain the Brain vs Shalltear scene a bit and it's not really spoilers it's basically just information that was left out of the anime. One thing not a lot of people realize about the part where Shalltear grabs his sword is just how much of a flex it actually is. How she grabbed the sword was from behind it which is multiple times more difficult than grabbing the blade from in front. Had she grabbed it in front it shows that she is at a minimum slightly faster than Brain, but by grabbing it from behind shows that her speed is incomparable to his. So a little backstory is Brain is level 28 and is one of the strongest humans in the world only slightly weaker than Gazef who is level 29, this puts both of them on the cusp of the Realm of Heroes which is level 30 and above which Clementine had surpassed and if I remember she was somewhere around level 33. Brain fought Gazef and lost which is how Gazef became the Kingdom's Warrior Captain because of that loss Brain spent years training to beat Gazef which led to the creation of the skill Whistling Wind. Now back to the Shalltear fight Whistling WInd is basically Brain's ultimate skill. This skill is an insanely powerful skill that's a combination of what could be already be considered ultimate skills by most warriors. It uses Field which creates a 3 meter radius sphere of what is essentially omniscience anything that enters or moves within it is known by Brain and basically makes it so he can evade anything that tries to hit him within the Field and perfectly hit anything that is within the Field, nothing can escape his notice within it. And the other skill is God Flash which is an upgraded version of the already broken Instantaneous Flash, God Flash is a skill with insane speed. Trying to dodge God Flash is like trying to dodge a bullet while blind folded, Brain had to train and use Instantaneous Flash millions of times before he could develop God Flash. So he basically has what can be considered these 2 ultimate skills that are combined into one of the greatest most powerful skills in the world that is specifically designed to defeat Gazef in one move and to even take on people within the realm of heroes. This ultimate skill with unimaginable speed and accuracy that by rights no one that Brain would ever meet in his life should be capable of dodging let alone grabbing it from in front of the blade, was grabbed from behind the blade... This is why Brain called her a monster with complete terror in his face and voice and why he completely broke down in tears and ran away. What Shalltear accomplished was something that should never of been possible something that Brain was incapable of even comprehending just how powerful of a feat it was.

Funny thing though, I actually really like Brain. Like I obviously didn't think much of him at this point, but he very quickly becomes one of my favorites.

Two last episodes will be Epic, next season wil be more epic, next season MORE epic, and last 4th season OH MY ....

I quite like Shalltear, she's cute but not when she's gone crazy use blood frenzy like that 🤣 That flying Blood's ball is how to activate Blood Frenzy, Well she can boost the strength but also can losing her mind. (Since in Yggdrasil Game, she's an NPC so it won't effect much, however here in New World things quite different)

incase you not know the battle maids are all non-humans. nabe gamma is a doppelganger and solution is a slime for instance ^^ most of the poeple got a human look mode and then a mosnter mode. the potion hurt shalltear since she undead, potions are 'holy/healing' so cuase damage to undead types.

it's actually more impressive, the way she gr4abbed the blade, she grabbed it from behind. Which means she had to wait for the blade to get close before she grabbed it instead of just placing her hand/fingers in the way of it

While Albedo and Shalltear definitely fight over Ains, she wouldn't try to kill her simply bc she wants Ains to herself. She wouldn't do anything to disrupt Ains' plans on purpose or weaken Nazarick, all the former npcs are completely loyal to him. She wants to kill Shalltear bc at current, being one of the strongest fighters in Nazarick, and being turned against them by that group, she is a considerable danger to Ains and Nazarick as a whole. It's also important to note that the her name on the list being turned red does mean she's under control by someone else currently, as Ains said used to be the case back in the game

The healing potion that she threw at Shalltear hurt her, in a lot of shows and fantasy in general, healing spells hurt undead creatures. And since that was a super strong healing potion, it hurt her a lot.

I’m very happy you are enjoying overlord. It’s one of my top 3 anime of all time. The animation at times drops off. But the story is so very good. Solution Epsilon, the bossy blonde lady, is a slime. That is why Zack was absorbed through her boobs. She is also one of the Pleiades battle maids alongside Narberal Gama. The full roster of battle maids are Yuri Alpha, Lupusregina Beta, Narberal Gamma, Solution Epsilon, CZ2128 Delta, Entoma Vasilissa Zeta, and Aureole Omega.

You got it in one, the potion is a healing potion. In some fantasy genre's healing effects instead harm undead. •The potion stopped Shaltear though cause it was a potion Ainz had given the girl, which can *only* be gotten from Yggdrassil, the game they came from. Meaning this girl had met Ainz or someone else, and may be part of their plans, or know of other players. •The reason they think Shaltear has turned is because a red name means a Mind Control effect is applied to them, meaning she's obeying someone elses orders now. •Solution, the blonde haired girl with Sebas is an Ooze/Slime, it's never really mentioned in the show but it's good to know. Remember there are *no humans* in Nazarick. So anyone who works for Ainz from before they moved here is 100% a monster of some form

Shaltir is the Powerfullest of the guardiens. In Magic attack High rank portions can damage undead Dudes . For Exempel Skeleton or Vampire The Dudes with the golden dragons from the theokratie slayn.

Thingies not explained in the anime: All members of Nazarick are not humans. (In fact that was a prerequisite to join). And that includes the maids. You already know Narberal Gamma, a doppleganger, and now there's Solution Epsilon, A slime. That's why she can smile like that.. and why she will have that man inside her a few days until total consumption :3

On Shalltear catching his blade with just two fingers .... she even caught it from BEHIND the blade. ;) Just look at her hand placement in that scene. I definitely reccomend reading the light novels, you just get so much much more out of it, not only information-wise.

You misunderstand Albedo's relationship with Shalltear... They don't actually hate each other... They are competitive and fight - more like rivals on the same team than like enemies...

This series is created to make the viewer think about it, why what happened. I love it.

Solution is essentially a Slime Girl who can mimic Humans, poor Zach got eaten in a way worse than what happened to his Raider buddies. Brain's technique is still capable of evolving, however running into an enemy who is three times your level can break someone's mind. Who knew that the potion that Red Headed Girl got from Momon would have saved her life from an Over Powered Boss.

Nobody in Nazarick hates each other. All Ainz minions get along very well. Alberto and Shaktear May bicker but they don’t hate each other.

Remember that the guild does not have any humans. Any NPC you may see who serves Ains that looks human has a monster race. Solution Epsilon is a slime, looking bybhow she devoured Zach.

My friend has a suggestion for you. Watch Episodes 12 and 13 at a time. Because they split the epic battle into two episodes. This way you won't be interrupted in the best moments.

From what I saw from people explaining the Light Novel, Shalltear got hurt by the potion because it contains light magic. It works like this. If you are a human or any other race that's light oriented, you heal by consuming light magic. The same logic applies with undead races, but with dark magic. If a light being gets healed by consuming that red potion, it means that its imbued with light magic. Which is a super effective element against Shalltear and, since its a high level potion, it's not too far off to think that if she got soaked in it she could've taken some actual serious damage.

The healing potion damages undead creatures like zombies, vampires and others

13:40 I believe when shalltear "caught" the potion, they show brief imagery of her hand burning slightly. So your theory is correct that a healing potion would indeed have the opposite effect on vampires.

That is how you break a man’s spirit. You wanted to see something cool, there it is. She didn’t just stop his sword, she did it spectacularly by catching it after it passed her arm range of motion.

Albedo wouldn't want to kill anyone in Nazerik in a final way. she argues with Shaltear, sure, but its not really a sense of hatred that would cause her to do harm to Nazerik. Shaltear under someone elses control is a major problem that needed to be dealt with immediately even if killing her was the fastest solution.

I like it when you pause before talking. Just an information: No Albedo doesn't think about getting rid of Shalltear because she "likes" Ainz too, Albedo is the leader of the Guardians so she's the one who commands and take charge whenever unforeseen things like this happens. She'll do the same thing as forming a team to defeat the one who "revolts" regardless of who it is in the Guardians or whoever member of Nazarick it is for example like Sebas, Albedo will form a counter team for it. Albedo and Shalltear's "love quarrel" for Ainz is just a light hearted comedy banter and doesn't affect the story so don't take those seriously.

16:30 no, its cause her strong sense of loyalty, remember Nabe wanted to off herself for making a mistake what lead to Nerfy finding out momon is Ainz, they are almost mirror images of their creators personality wise, they made so they fight like they do but despite fighting love each other as well so they wouldn't try to get rid of each other cause of rivalry

I will only tell you one thing, now that you have seen episode 10 of season 1 and until the end, if you were to listen to the narration of the epilogue of volume 16 of the light novel, you would fall back from your chair.

The following is never explained in the anime so I figured I'd give you the breakdown. Solutions full name is Solution Epsilon of the Pleiades Battle Maids, and her true form is that of a slime. All Battle Maids (and Sebas Tian, the leader of the Pleiades) are heteromorphs, meaning not human, Solution Epsilon is a slime, Yuri Alpha is a Dullahan, Naberal Gamma is a doppelganger, Lupusregina Beta is a werewolf, CZ2128 Delta is an Android, Entoma Vassillissa Zeta is..... well that will be shown at a later point and lastly is Sebas Tian a Dragonoid. While he's not technically part of the Pleiades he is the current leader of their group and answers directly to Ainz.
