IgA antibodies are found in secretions like saliva and tears to work against infections Anti-IgA antibodies are formed against IgA. Since people w IgA deficiency do not produce IgA, the donor's IgA is recognised as a foreign substance and there are IgE antibodies [anti-IgA antibodies] formed against IgA :) I hope that makes sense!

Celiac disease is associated w IgA deficiency. So, patients w celiac disease may have an anaphylactic reaction to blood transfusion (if they have IgA deficiency)
