i'm poor now but if i ever succeed, im donating to this channel routinely. these videos are invaluable to diy-ers & people interested in the scientific method in general. i found your channel because i wanted to learn blacksmithing- i need to build a forge and this channel seems to be the only channel to go indepth on burners. and you are trying to find an efficient low cost alternative. i learn a lot from every video, some of the lessons are quick but theyre there if youre paying attention. i find myself learning all aspects of problem solving: from critical reasoning to workflow and even notation. your notebooks look fkn immaculate. mine are trash. youre livin the life brotha, true oldschool fabrication/experimentation. thank you for sharing!

I wonder if you could adapt the nozzle and feed tube to be like a very long needle valve to adjust the out flow. Always great to see new content from you.

If you had worked as an engineer in the petrochemical industry, you would have been taught about all the principles you are looking for. There are books written that have all these graphs available.

Looks like a shell head oil burner needs more air flow behind nozzle to keep nozzle clean. Fire Looks great

Could do with a Reed valve in the back and you’ve got a pulse jet of sorts!

Study tornado physics. “Comprehend and copy nature “-Schauberger Air goes out on the outside in pressure, air comes in from the inside in vacuum generated by the vortex. That “black zone” is the area where the fastest combustion is taking place, where the fresher vacuum pulled air brought in in the center is most meeting the fuel laden pressure air moving out on the outside

I think if you angle the blower pipe 60 degree or so it might mitigate blow back and move the nozzle back to help with build up, burn pipe may need to be longer too.

You should read some basic books on jet engine design which includes which high temperature metals to use.
@roberthamm9304

That particular burner is creating a vacuum vortex creating a secondary burn, much like a turbo ram jet engine in fighter jets. Diesel fuel is thinner than waste oil. Waste oil is loaded with so much dirt, that it thickens up. If you build a centrifuge, you’d be able to filter a lot of that sludge out of the oil. Then cut the waste oil with either diesel or gas, then the burner should burn smoother and more efficiently. You basically created a ram jet engine, just without all of the turbo ram jet fans. Whatever you did on the inside of the burner that’s creating that vortex, you might have just created a new jet engine.

have you ever reversed your supply feeds? like run your fuel outside the air instead of the air outside the fuel?
@hunnybunnysheavymetalmusic6542
This is why you need to put a catalyst on the outside. With increased velocities, and pressures, and with the ability to drawn in additional air from the back, you can burn hotter and cleaner, with less power left on the table. It is, however, critical that you insulate the system to make sure that all the heat exits out the back. Since I have made no purchases, I can make no reviews.

Do you think that in flowing center vortex flame is why you’re getting so much soot build up on the nozzle?
@NOBOX7
@NOBOX7 3 года назад
Yes also its freezing cold compared to surroundings
@CharlieSolis
@CharlieSolis 3 года назад
@@NOBOX7 you should try a radial spraying nozzle. It looks like your nozzle spray forward is competing/spraying opposite with the inflowing center vortex. With a radial spraying nozzle you can direct the fuel spray into the outer vortex without competing with the inflowing center vortex and then put a small shield on the top of the nozzle so the in flowing vortex smashes the soot onto it instead of gunking up the nozzle. 🤷‍♂️

U need to study modern jet engines specifically the afterburner region where fuel is added at the back of the fire, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY the nozzel shape. Also consider vaporizing the oil by heat instead of atomization to avoid nozzle foul. Just wrap the oil/steel brake line around the hot zone for preheat without O2.

@NOBOX7 how about you add a second pipe over the red hot nozzle like a sleeve but use a spring as a spacer between the hot nozzle and the outer sleeve. If you get it to fit tightly and route to oil into the front of spiral cavity between the two pipes, the oil will travel around the hot nozzle and vaporize before being injection into the burn chamber.

Blower is also needed to boost the exhaust 🔥,Maybe you need bigger combustor where you can pipe the blower,

I was looking at your ebay store and I am considering buying own of your silicon carbide nozzles. My question is, I have to modify the nozzle to work in a vertical position for my application. Have you tried any of your silicon carbide nozzles in a vertical position? Is there one of your models that would be a better choice? Primarily burning kerosene, may get into diesel in the future. I was just going to take off the two straight pipes and put an elbow in between each.
@NOBOX7

Yes they can burn in any position and i could set you up with a custom bracket for vertical mount . Dont buy from ebay if you wanna do me a favor as they kill me in fees . Just email me using the address in description

So if I wanted to build a waste oil burner plumed into a cast iron wood stove, with a stainless steel pot catching the flame in my camper, are you suggesting using a compressor as an air source? I'm kinda limited to 12volts and limited battery capacity. On my way over to your page to give it a like. I'd very much like to read your book!!

Very ineresting. How would a turbo/self powered burner do compared to these? A turbo is essentially a compressor so woulf it perform similarly to your compressor type burner? I guess you'd have to redesign it to be able to use the exhaust to power itself

@@xmysef4920 yep! I've also found out that it should be possible to build a little mini burner with a 12v dc blower fan powered by a TEC that is heated by the burner itself. TECs are inefficient though so the burner wouldn't be very big, but it's something.
