Hey, guys! In this video, I unveil my new method of blow drying my relaxed hair. In this recalibrated version, I still rely on my favorite brush - the Denman: an effective tool that can be used on both relaxed and natural hair.

Hi, Juana! Thank you! 🤗 I use a heat protectant when I flat iron (Theorie’s Heat Shield Spray) and use Infusium 23 leave-in and Wrap N Tap wrapping lotion to blow dry.

No matter if I blow dry with a brush or the comb attachment, my hair BREAKS. Ive started letting my hair air dry some before blow drying by putting it in large plaits. It still break.

Hey, Winter Sweet! Do you use a leave-in? What kind of heat protectant do you use? When was your last trim?

@@DolceDawn I use a leave in. I've been trying to find my favorite. I use Mizani 25 Miracle Milk. I've tried the Keracare natural textures leave in. I use a serum ByLJones. I apply it prior to flat ironing. I had a trim a week ago. I haven't checked to see if the leave in had protein in it. Too much can make ur hair dry. However, not enuf protein make the hair weak. My hair breaks the most when I blow-dry.

@@wintersweet6717 Hair is going to break anytime you manipulate it, but if you believe you get excessive breakage ONLY when blow drying, it could be a few different things besides the products: technique, temperature, how close the nozzle is to your hair when drying, etc. Instead, would you consider roller setting or wet wrapping your hair? This should help mitigate the breakage while you try to figure out what the exact cause is.

You have really great videos, I’ve been binge watching! I apologize if you’ve already addressed this, I would like to know if you use a heat protectant when you blow dry? Also, if you still use it, how often do you use Olaplex 3? Thanks!

Thank you, T Bott! Before blow drying, I apply a leave-in as well as a wrapping lotion (both of which protect the hair) and then use a heat protectant later when flat ironing. Also, I don’t use Olaplex as much anymore, but when I did, I used it once a week (starting the week after I relaxed).

@@DolceDawn oh by the way I am currently in the middle of wash day. I have washed ny hair with the fig and Manuka shampoo. OMG I absolutely love it! My hair felt like butter when I washed it out, it was soooooo soft. I am using the conditioner as a deep conditioner even though it doesnt say use it as one but that's what Im doing. I've mixed it with a homemade hair oil I made. Im goimg to deep condition with a heating cap for an hour. Ill let you know the final results😁. Oh by the way I always deep condition for an hour its probably not necessary However its been a part of my wash day regimen for the past 10 years and my hair loves it so im sticking with it lol.

@@DolceDawn Hey Dolce!! I just finished wash day. OMG i have to thank you soooo much. I used the blow dryer I was telling you about and followed your blow dry and flat iron routine. My hair feels amazing and its super soft, Moisturized and bouncy. I absolutely looove it! Oh by the way using the conditioner as a deep conditioner worked out wonderfully. I am in loooove. Now all I have to do is get the wrapping my hair part down and I'll be good to go lol. Oh by the way it came out better today than yesterday , wooooo progress! 😁

Yeah, someone else told me the same thing. Those round brushes, super hot blow dryers… the whole technique can be really harsh.

@@DolceDawn I went to the Dominicans once when I was 25 with relaxed hair. Let me tell you, I couldn't wrap my hair for almost two weeks because hair was so silky and flowing. The only problem I had was that hot ass blow dryer on my scalp. I haven't been back since.
