Looks a great pub this trev...I only got to congleton from bollington on my weekend jaunt recently an had to head back...this is a defo pub for me in the future Trev👍🍺
Hi Trev I'm glad to see that you are safe and well mate. You have never disappointed me with your videos from day one they have been very informative and interesting and a real pleasure to watch. Unfortunately a beer is now something that I cannot drink anymore .. because of my health issues.... I'm so glad to see you are getting on with the new recording equipment...it shows just how popular your channel is.. Personally I don't look at other channels .. narrow boat life is a harsh and demanding life to lead..yet a few will have you believe that is sunshine and roses.evry day .. This B. S. I can't stomach ..and always turn them off. Mate as a marine engineer I have worked in many boatyards on the canal system and have always asked people who are thinking about buying a narrow boat one question .. Have you ever had a holiday on a narrow boat just to see if you could live this type of life. Ninety nine percent of them had not .. but they all say that they had watched videos on it. You would be surprised by the amount of boats that are back in the boatyards up for sale after a few months... because the owners say that they made a mistake by buying a boat to live on..as for myself I was born on a narrow boat and have lived on a narrow boat most of my life and the reality is the sun does not shine every day and the only rose's are the ones in people's gardens... Anyway Trev keep making honest videos and keep yourself safe and well mate.🍺🍺🍺.
Spot on, it is not a bed of roses. I enjoy the challenges the lifestyle brings. A good way to not become a couch potato. I have recently seen a new Channel 4 show called Narrow Escape here on RU-vid they have shown a young girl on there who has bought a boat with no experience of ever being on a boat. I hope she makes it, but I do not think she will make it through her first winter. Just looking at her expectations and what she thinks it is all about will not work in real life.
@@TrevsTravelsByNarrowboat Trev they will never show if this young woman leaves the canals ... These people have never experienced the canals in the dead of winter .. You like myself have always prepared for the winter months. Unfortunately a great amount of people over the years have not done this .. And have become unstuck ...no fuel . And have to walk miles to get groceries and are lucky if they find fuel for the stove. The last winter I spent on my narrow boat I ended up helping people who had not done anything to prepare for the winter.. I spent hours cutting logs ..and fetching food for them .. because they were under the illusion that every thing they need was just a stones throw away..??? Many had not had a fire for days ..and their cupboards were empty...I even had a number of kids staying on my boat because of the cold on Thier parents boats... There were twenty boats where I was stopped at the time.. many of which had people staying with them .. just so people could keep warm.. However none of this is explained to people when they buy a boat to live on... People used to laugh at me when I started to cut logs and stack them up on my narrow boat... They always asked me why I had so much coal ..abord my boat...when the sun was shining ..I used to start doing this at the beginning of September.... However these people suddenly realised why I had stocked up with everything I needed. When the snow began to fall and the canal began to freeze. Making it impossible to move the boat .. I always made sure that a water point was near by... Anyway Trev keep yourself safe and well mate.🍺🍺🍺.
@@wayneharris7534 I always keep plenty of food, water, and fuel for both the engine and the fire. If it looks like I am going to get frozen in I move close to the shops. I have cut up firewood for many an unprepared boater during freeze-ins and shared my logs with people.
@@TrevsTravelsByNarrowboat that is what the boating community has always done Trev ... However I think that people should be made aware of how harsh the winter months could be when they are buying a narrow boat. This I have always done when I'm working in boatyards...when people turn up to see how the repairs are going on the boat that they have bought. Even the guys that are blacking the boat try to give them advice about the winter months....
