Blue Bossa is a great way song start improvising following the harmony because it's a well known tune that is not too difficult.
In this lesson I'll present a set of arpeggios, some exercises, target notes and strategies for making solos where you can hear the harmony in the improvisation when you solo over Blue Bossa
It will help you improvise over the chord changes and check out the arpeggios of Blue Bossa. I will also give you some ideas on how to create good solos inside the changes.
You can check out the lesson on improvising on a II V I in C major with arpeggios here: • How to start soloing o...

My name is Jens Larsen, Danish Jazz Guitarist, and Educator. The videos on this channel will help you explore and enjoy Jazz. Some of it is how to play jazz guitar, but other videos are more on Music Theory like Jazz Chords or advice on how to practice and learn Jazz, on guitar or any other instrument.
The videos are mostly jazz guitar lessons, but also music theory, analysis of songs and videos on jazz guitars.

Jens, you are such an excellent player and also good teacher. A suggestion, please end your video lesson with you jamming out on the tune you are teaching. It would be fun and informative to hear you playing more of what you are teaching. Then we get the best of both worlds. Thanks

Soloing with arppeggios has been my main approach for jazz as they contain the guide tones of the implied chords. Finding the 9th, 11ths and 13ths after you know exactly where the 1-3-5-7 comes easier. This lesson just reminded me of how much more work I need to put in to sound more natural when connecting everything. I know arpeggions in most positions for all important chords, but I have the nasty habit of starting them on the chord's tonic note and jumping positions because of how I've learned them. I've been playing for 17 years+ but only attended jazz/pop education in 2005. Ten years later and I'm still figuring out comping/modes/arpeggios. Thank you so much for your lessons, Jens. You're by far my favourite teacher on RU-vid. The insight you provide on jazz music is excellent, in depth and easy to integrate in everyday playing.

I started guitar 6 years ago and because of you and other amazing content creators, I have been able to rapidly progress, write songs with interesting chord progressions, jam with others, and perform live with my own band. I am so appreciative of these in-depth lessons and the amount of effort you put into the production quality matching the tab with your videos as well. Keep it up!

What kind of scum are we breading in this world, that would give a thumbs down, to such a brilliant teacher. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Don't watch if you don't like it. Regards Marcus.

Just discovered this one and what a gem. At first I thought I'd never remember all the arpeggios but after much less time than I thought I was playing the basic exercise and it's amazing how as soon as you can do that you can already sometimes make a decent if not very elaborate solo never using anything but notes from the arpeggios. It's so far beyond what I was previously able to do as a guitarist who came up playing in 70s rock cover bands playing solos mostly with just minor pentatonic scales. Thanks so much for you content Jens!

I used to try to improvise using scales and modes - and it sounded like Sh-- Using this method of chord tones and arpeggios and focusing on the 3rd of the chord has changed everything for me. I still sound like Sh-. but at least there’s a shred of music there. Great lesson. Thank you.

Thanks so much for these lessons, they really are a great help, So clear and concise. When I'm feeling swamped by all there is out there to learn, i head straight for your videos and always find something that helps gets me back on track and motivated again and this one is no different just what i needed. This will give me a good few weeks of work and a goal to aim for. I love the fact that the back to basics arpeggio approach really helps focus the learning by limiting note choice options, which you can work up to expanding (bit by bit) later. But also apply to other songs in the meantime so getting to feel like you're playing solos with direction rather than just flying though scales and hoping you hit a good note when the changes come:)
