There is a deep misconception that action is productivity. We are made to feel guilty about being still and quiet and that we should always be on the Go GO GO, but the fact is Rest helps us find balance, grounds us and brings our awareness to the present. This time is for us to be present, so the guilt is once again misplaced if you are not "productive". Let's be kind to ourselves and enjoy the CHILL mode nature and govt is requiring of us. It is very Zen in that being present and quiet, maybe just puttering around doing something light and simple can open us up to insights that our busy body go go go lifestyles would have never allowed. Just something to contemplate.
Oh yes! That’s what I have been contemplating on these last days. I have been feeling guilty not wanting to study smth new or rearranging my storages or do whatever other useful things I usually have not enough time for. But after kids are done homeschool I just enjoy being still, gardening, reading and just sleeping a lot. Am I allowed to be so lazy? :) Your comment is on point. ❤️

Don't be too hard on yourself for not exercising or crossing everything off your to-do list, Lisa. This dreadful epidemic is a time for kindness and self-care, you can make the most of it by resting, creating things or thinking of what you'll want to create next and, of course, by spending quality time with your loved ones (cats included). I completely agree with you. I think there's this big push from certain people that you have to be doing all during this time. So exercise, learning new skills, DIY, yoga. I think these times are quite hard, and we should be going easy on ourselves. It doesn't really matter, so long as we get through this alive and well. I'm not doing too much, just reading when I feel like it. I feel like Lisa, my eyebrows are a mess and my hair is too long and I haven't styled it in over a month now. I'm leaning into it. I have a feeling some of those who are exercising like mad will suddenly crash when it all hits them.
It has been kind of paralyzing. I haven’t gotten much done either! I think I am putting energy into keeping it together but not aware of how much energy that takes. Therefore I haven’t gotten much done otherwise. Be safe all.
I read a post that said something like this: we‘re dealing with a pandemic. It‘s not about losing weight, learning something new, starting tiktok. Right now, getting up every morning for sone is enough. To clarify: do you! Whatever feels good right now will be the right thing to do. I work in our local hospital's ER, and we are also the regions's Covid-19 patient receivers, things get crazy and the situation is changing everyday. These videos make me fall in love with life and art again, and I can watch these longer videos in shorter sections in between patients. Keep safe, and do not stress about not doing much, it's a time for recharging and taking care of our mental health even more than our physical health! We need strong minds for a strong body ❤️
It’s so reassuring to hear that I am not the only one who haven’t done much. I feel the pressure from social media that now it’s the time to do all sorts of amazing things like learn a language or a new skill, exercise every day, etc. and I’m not doing any of these.....
This is just my opinion and you don't have to share it. Exercise isn't like learning a language, we exercise because our bodies need it to remain healthy. Don't be fooled by the media. Exercise is not something you do for aesthetic. Taking care of ourselves is a necessity. Personally it makes me feel happier, less anxious and I rest better at night.
Trust me we are all overwhelmed by the people that exercise, learn new languages and are able to stay super productive and positive. Sometimes you just have to follow your own rhythm. 🙌🏻 Always happy to see a new video from you ❤️

If it makes you feel better, everybody is telling me the same thing about how they’re accomplishing nothing of real substance & yet the days fly by & they are okay with that😌It makes me feel it’s the reprieve that every body just really needed & perhaps didn’t realize. Maybe that’s the silver lining? My hope is that humanity comes out changed for the better; I know I have a whole new perspective on what really matters in life. When I read "Ted Talk" I had a moment of concern bc we're all so tired of the bad news, but I was SO pleasantly surprised by the guest speaker. I'll happily view any Ted talk he broadcasts.
I‘m in Germany and ‚ in‘ for about 4 weeks , at the beginning I thought to reorganise everything in the house is the perfect idea...... I did few things and I stopped to put myself under pressure. We are 5 adults( 3 adult daughters) in the house and to have this family life back, is wonderful. Lunch TOGETHER, so many new ways to learn from each other.
This was so therapeutic start to finish. I'm heading into week 5 of isolation and I've been feeling the same way. I'm usually a very active person but I just can't seem to motivate right now. It's really comforting to know others are going through the same. One tiny thing I've found that helps is reading short stories. I haven't been able to sink into a novel but reading in little bursts has been a much needed pick me up. Thank you for sharing your talent and your kitties!

Lisa, I am here in the US and have been on lockdown since March 13th. I have done nothing I thought I would accomplish in this time off. I thought my house would be immaculate by now - instead, it's the opposite ;( So glad I am not alone in finding the days go by and feeling I haven't done what is on my list. The only thing I get done is online shopping - which makes hubby not so happy. I so much enjoyed this tutorial, from the insightful Ted Talk to the serene background with the wind blowing so gently on you and your ever so calm voice. Stay well.

Thank you for sharing about your struggle with exercising - I'm in the same boat! It's easy to compare, but in reality no one has done this before and has no idea how to go about it. We are all doing our best and I say, indulge a little more in chocolate and relaxing on the couch. Let a day pass without the pressure to be productive. I've been painting while staying in. Haven't painted in the last 6 years or so, feels so good to resume on one of my favorite things in the world 🌈 I know exactly that feeling when you say you haven't been doing much. I guess we just need to be able to sit down and be okay with doing nothing while not feeling guilty about it. This is definitely one of things I'll be able to get out of this experience.

Love this blue look!💙 We've been on lockdown in our house (Ontario, Canada) for 5 weeks because my 7 yr old son and I are both immune compromised. But heres a feel good story! Yesterday some good friends (who had to cancel their wedding due to the virus) had their wedding ceremony at home VIA Zoom conferencing so that all their friends and family could still see them exchange vows. After that, we went to a quiet street where there was a surprise convoy of about 20 cars of friends and family decked out in balloons and "congratulations" signs with pictures of the couple. Honking, applause, "congratulations!", dancing (all 6ft away from each other lol), many tears from everyone, and lots of support from neighbours who came outside to watch. It was the first time our family had left the house in over a month and let me tell you...Cant top that one! So special. Sending much Canadian love.
Honestly, my favorite TED talk. I have been watching for years and years and love everything you do but these videos at home are just next level wonderful. I watched the entire thing while bottle feeding kittens and it was one of the most lovely times I have had these past 3 weeks :) Stay safe!
Such a wonderful lift for me today Lisa and Betty is just the Diva I needed. And as others have said do not be harsh to yourself. Now is not the time to be critical to others or ourselves. My dearest friend is an ER nurse and she said what she has seen on the daily is just heartbreaking. She said there is absolutely nothing to be done once the virus takes hold. There is nothing really they have that works to combat it and it is horrific how many people are dying alone while they are helpless. She asked me to tell everyone to just stay home. This is not the flu and to please just bear it. I started crying reading her text to me...so I am staying home and will be ready to help her when SHE finally can sit back and finally rest. Until then we support each other and focus on life and the joys we have daily. Today you brought joy to us...how much more could we ask for. Thank you 💕
Ted is my spirit animal... My cats have played a starring role in my conference calls... I've had to switch off the video on one call because one of them decided to clean his butt in full view of everyone.... Show stopper
This look takes me back, way back to the early 70’s. I had a Miners eye palette that was a bright blue and a dark blue. So I got myself ready for a night out at the Club disco. As I was preening myself in the mirror downstairs checking that everything was on point, my Dad piped up “that’s a nice shade of budgie blue you’ve got on your eyes”.......never used it again......ever 🙄😂😂
Lisa Eldridge I also had another Miners palette with a sort of dark turquoise and purple (loved that duo 😂). Accompanied that one with Rimmels Black Tulip lipstick. Hello Lisa! I love LOVE Betty and Ted oh so luscious! My dh of 42+yrs and I have 2 cats, an angel girl who's never done anything wrong named MiuMiu, and Penelope (who was almost dothed Trouble)... I've not seen a blue eye I liked UNTIL now :) Stunning. Our son and his wife both work at the main hospital here, their 3 children recently started home schooling, they decided not to see us and risk our exposure... My dh is a small animal veterinarian and works 4 days/wk on essential surgeries and rescues. He's turning 70 this month (I'm 63). We were about to pick our "last" home to buy but that's on hold... My dh's mom lives 6-1/2hrs away and is turning 90 soon, she's isolating also. I now use the word "dystopian" for reality and not just for movies. I'm determined to be present and accounted for everything in the meantime. Thanks for encouraging us to comment, I truly enjoyed your video :)

Beautiful. I did a blue, smokey eye look last week, just for fun and it was a revelation! I have hazel eyes and have never thought of blue as my colour. I remember my mother rocking blue with her vibrant blue eyes but i have always stayed with coppers, greens and purples. However i bought the Victoria Beckham Lid Lustre in Midnight for Christmas and finally got around to using it. Turns out blue is absolutely my colour! It's such a different look for me and was a good reminder that the only limits with makeup are the ones i impose upon myself. A new era of experimentation has dawned😍 It's nice to see you doing a blue eye look today too and watching you pair it the same shade of lip colour as i did on the day myself, makes me feel really proud of myself😀 Sad, but true lol but i'm really no MUA so i am chuffed to bits🤣 Love these house vids and the cats. I almost cried when Lisa talked about her list. I make a list too, but I’m mostly just doing the cleaning and laundry. I used to do my makeup every single day, and I’ve barely worn any makeup the past few weeks. I’ve also gained a few pounds and feeling blah. I’m really ready to get back to normal. Thank you Lisa.

Hello everyone. I am from Istanbul. 6 days ago, I have lost my much beloved grandfather due to Covid-19. This was heartbreaking, it still is, but since I study medicine, that gave me some extra motivation to study. We have online classes luckily. The government says, once the pandemic is over (hopefully in the summer) we' ll make practice lessons at the hospital. I wouldn' t even imagine I would be so eager to go to school even at summer. I guess this entire thing effected how we perceive things. It also effected not only the low-income people but everyone, so maybe this is the reason of the size of effect in the entire world. I feel like humanity is united in a way. While this caused so so so much pain, hopefully we will also learn from it and be much more loving towards each other. We are not that different anyway. By the way, dear Mrs Elridge, I really like the way you apply makeup light handed and create art with it. Letting the persons natural features to be seen is a key feature to me, which adds so much value I think. Also, recently I tried a blue makeup and in this video there are some tips which can be helpful. I' m lucky. I hope everyone is safe. I wish lots of patience, strength and love who are sick or who are dealing with the loss of their loved ones. Trust me, staying at home is literally nothing compared to deal with something like that. I woul easily and happily spend 6 months fully at home just to see my grandfather once more or to be able to hold his hand while he was leaving this world. Please be motivated by the fact of saving humans while you are staying inside. Lots of love, Sinem.

I actually took my cat to the vet because he was doing these Ted talks at night for hours on end. Turns out he was just finding one of his pet mice toys and talking to it. Now I have to confiscate the toys to get any sleep. Cats are amazing.
Linda Frances mine finds one specific toy every night. Brings it into the bedroom. Then does this until I acknowledge that she caught a mouse and gave me a gift. The moment I say “good kitty” she shuts up and goes to bed.

I live alone and have not seen another human since the first week of March and likely won't till mid May here on the central coast of CA. We share the same kind of list, there are remote meet ups and other opportunities I too have on my to do list but when the time comes I don't choose to join. I have taken up painting with watercolors and acrylics and quite enjoy creating. I used the watercolors to paint easter eggs in a nautical theme. Have not touched makeup but am ramping up on acids because if I peel no one will be the wiser. My lovely Siamese keeps me company along with my mini Pom and seeing deer and wild turkeys out my back window brings me to enormous gratefulness.

OMG Lisa .... I literally missed everything you said at the beginning because I was totally captivated by Ted and his antics!! He definitely needs his own show!! And Betty certainly looked mollified by your gesture! I absolutely love this look and think I'll try and recreate it tomorrow, in fact. I am trying the same...to not be too hard on myself. Its such an indulgence to wake up in the morning and be able to sit with a cup of coffee, watch you glam up and not have to show,er dress and run out the house. My brother contracted the virus and unexpectedly passed away last week as a result--its so shocking that I dont think Ive even been able to take it in yet:/ so everyone needs to embrace their time and home and appreciate being able to stay safe. xoxo Thank you for doing these videos...its so comforting and kind of you.
I love a strong blue eye. Even my simple blue eyeliner makes my brown eyes more interesting. The blue brings out the various shades of brown in my eyes.

So I read a lot, than I study French, and I also workout on my stationary bike every afternoon, while watching Downton Abbey. I simply do things that bring me joy. We need to see and hear more from Ted! I love this look so much! You look gorgeous, Lisa. I have brown eyes and smoky blue eye makeup is elegant but a little unexpected too - not the typical black. I think what I'm struggling with the most right now is having no routine. I teach high school and I'm used to having my weeks run by my school's schedule. Moving everything online has been crazy. When I've gotten up and done my hair and makeup though, it helps me focus and feel like I'm ready to face the day.

He lives alone. Not easy to keep the mood high when you're alone but we keep thinking of the nice holiday we'll have once this is over: it helps with the mood. I’m home with two super young children, 1.5 and 3.5 years old. We’re going into our sixth week of isolation and I’ve only managed to put on makeup and properly dress myself once. I feel insane! Between cooking, cleaning, playing, and unpacking (we moved into our house three weeks before the stay home order was issued), I feel like I’ve completely lost myself. I’m a mommy machine. Gah. Thanks for your videos. They really help. I watch them while I nurse my daughter at night. The real world is still there and some day I’ll feel whole and bright and shiny again.

Being an extrovert, I miss my friends, I miss being at church among lots of people, singing , worshiping together. Yes, we call do all that on line, BUT for me it's just not the same. I've being trying to use this time to BE present for my kids and my husband, but sometimes it is hard because I am not able to recharge my batteries, ya know? Listening to you, reading the comments from other people really helps, it makes me feel that I am not alone, and that someone out there understands exactly how I'm feeling. Thank you for that, Lisa!! Here in Singapore we are on the 7th day of lockdown. I’m using the time to wash my makeup brushes and organise my makeup. It’s mandatory to wear a face mask in most public places now. So I’m thinking I can still do a bold blue eye look with a mask that covers the bottom half of my face. 😷

Love Ted and Betty! I enjoy your videos Lisa. I live in central Iowa and it happens to be snowing today but it won’t amount to much. I started the quarantine with energy and enthusiasm. I cleaned and organized things around the house and filled my freezer with meals. I found myself needing more rest so I often took naps. I was never a napper. I’m 68. This week I find myself being quite lazy and spending a lot of time on the iPad researching things I find interesting. I have come to realize that I’m going to be spending more time at home for maybe months since my age and an autoimmune disease cause me to need to be more cautious. I’m thinking about what that is going to look like. In October I rescued a 9 year old dog and he has been a constant companion. We enjoy walks outdoors which is a mood lifter. Take care and be well. Hi Lisa! Happy Easter 🐣 I just loved the Ted talk. My 17 year old cat passed away a few weeks ago. Very difficult with the situation right now. It was just me and Shana all these 17 years. I’m so grateful she picked me. She slept on my chest almost every night. Sang her “ you are my sunshine” before we went to sleep. So, sorry I went on Lisa. The Ted talk made me smile for the first time in weeks. I’ll probably be very sad for a bit. But, I just love you and you’re so pretty Lisa and talented. I am a doctor( so is my husband); so I got delayed in checking my phone you tube ... and now that I saw the notifications, yours was the one I jump started watching. It is a really beautiful makeup... and really morale boosting after all the things I see at hospital.We are on our 4th week of lockdown ( though for me, I have the hospital work), and with a small kid at home and getting very less time to home teach him. My kid has got cranky.. he doesn’t understand the lockdown... for him it is like house arrest ... all this is depressing for us.. and I feel an entire generation of kids might have some psychological meltdown... with they not able to understand, not able to go out of house and meet kids of their own age... and only able to grumble.. which is not really helping the family. With no house help ( thankfullyI have a babysitter who has agreed to stay at our house till all this ends.. however long it takes.. touchwood). The world will definitely go through a financial crisis post all this devastation. In the midst of this... your colourful makeup tutorials really boosts up my morale for some time at least. I would really love you to do an eye makeup using lilac- lavender( a color which has more of red than blue undertones... like the recent Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk eye pencil shade).
