No preservative used. The Alcohol helps preserve the oil in this method.yoy can add vit e oil or rosemary oleoresin extract to prevent rancidity and if you really want to add a preservative, you can add phenonip, elderberry extract or any other of your choosing according to the usage rate.

In oil infusions, it won't be a rich blue pigment. I have done glycerites and obtained a dark blue color. You can also try a water infusion which should give you a nice rich color depending on how much or how little of the flowers you use. Hope this helps

@@MonAra thank you!! Am set on a final product in oil, so I wouldn't want to get any water in it. Have you tried heat infusion? How was the color? Having a hard time finding sources online 😅

@@ysoluna I tried heating as well and had a clear final product. No color whatsoever. I have tried using different colored herbs with heat but no obvious color. Oil infusions won't result in any color of the herb it's infused in through my experiment. Most of the herbs bring out their color pigment in water but not in oils. There are however pigmented essential oils like blue tansy and blue chamomile. You can check my how to make face elixir video on RU-vid as I use the blue tansy essential oil

@@ysoluna hi Ysobel, I'm in Thr dame situation. I'm trying to get a proper blue indigo color for an oil serum. Is there a way to extract this in oil and get that rich blue color? Has that been done? Thank you!
