FL is the best example of how to play a structured sound game. Guys skate, finish checks, make quick give and go passes, and forecheck hard. Damn they're gooooooood. It's all about culture and work ethic
I’m not expecting a Cup this year, but I do expect improvement. And maybe not this year, but in Ruffs second year, I do expect substantial leaps in some players games. The 3 players that I’m really looking at are Peterka, Quinn and Benson. While I don’t consider them on Jack Hughes level, he was starting to be considered a Bust. Then in his second year under Lindy, his career REALLY took off! If Ruff could get one, two or even all three to make THAT type of leap in their own level of play, we’re in FANTASTIC shape! Then if he can get the rest of the team to play like they did in 22-23, we WILL be looking at a Cup contending team!
If we want a playoff team so badly but is a team that will just get knocked out of the first round, that high will fade really quickly. Let’s keep building a champion the right way. I think Adams has viewed building this team in phases. We haven’t seen physicality but now he is saying it. I think that means it’s coming.
My friend who doesn't know much about Hockey asked me how the sabres are doing.. not realizing it was the playoffs. I told him "nooo its playoff time" hes like o thats cool they doing well... My response "no we don't do that stuff, we like golfing and showing up in international tournaments, we can't be doing playoffs" (As a joke) but man that hit me close to home

With UPL'S unexpected stellar play giving them a chance it was really the woeful consistency that hurt so much. A couple of winning streaks will get them in this season im certain. Just get rid of those performances where they clearly didn't show up ready and Buffalo will be back in and comfortably so. Then the madness can begin. 😋 The Canucks have just edged ahead in games played in the playoffs, literally this season.
Why the hate for Girgensons, he’s a 10 year Sabre and a decent role player/leader. I think the team may still be another year away from playoffs. Still a very young team.
What would you think about having a 4th line of Benson, Savoie, and Kulich next season? They might struggle at times as they adapt to the NHL… but it feels like those three could be together for a long time. And they’d all be on rookie contracts… that opens up a lot of cap space. You should use cap friendly’s armchair GM to show us what you’d like the team to look like come the start of next season.
The Rochester Amerks have a huge Russian D man who can play well and he’s tough as nails. I like how he sticks up for teammates all the time. He led the team with a plus minus rating of +20 and his rookie season his name is Nikita Novikoff.
Ik some Sabres fans may be mad at last year but I’m optimistic about next think about it other than Florida who is better than us Tampa should decline so should the leafs so should the bruins Florida is here to stay but I think it’s very realistic to think we finish 2nd with 106pts or so
When people say playoffs bound or bust learned from Tim Murray and Jason that one you're desperate to make the playoffs you make stupid moves this team still hasn't shown me it's ready to win. And when we do make the playoffs we need cheap high-skilled labor and that's why you don't trade away your young prospects at hopes of making the playoffs. Does everybody want to just make the playoffs and get swept in the first round Yahoo that's great. I waited 13 years I could wait another year or two and to say Kevin Adams will be fired if he doesn't make the playoffs is absolutely asinine
He would be a good pick , him or Liam Greentree from Windsor but i have a feeling Adams will package the pick and trade it for a veteran 3rd line centre.
to be honest I have not updated myself to the final 20 prospects like I usually do..I honestly would trade this pick this time around is why..but Senneke has the size with decent numbers..if I had it my way? we would trade the pick this time around for a vet we could use now..but of course another 1st rounder in the pipeline is more than fine with me also

Adams is going into year 5 , he knows he has to make the playoffs next spring or he is gone. Big reason he hired Lindy Ruff, if you are on your last life line go with someone who you trust. Now lets see who Adams brings in to replace Girgenson, Jost and Olofsson . I hope he sticks to his word and adds a veteran 3rd line centre and some abrasiveness for the bottom 6 forward group. Wayne ( and everyone else) any interest in Tavares as the Sabres third line centre next year? Of course the Leafs would have to eat some of his contract. I think Tavares might lift his NMC to go to Buffalo after playing with Cozens Byram and Power at the World Championships.
Honestly I think it’s ridiculous that fans are already saying Adams should be fired if we don’t make the playoffs. He put together an incredible roster as is. We are committing to building a young team and the payoff could be huge. I think this is testament to how bloodthirsty our fans are, which is why we need someone logical like Adams as GM.
I cant stand Tavares with a passion Neil..I hated that guy even when he was younger all the way to now on Team Canada, I knew we would lose this year with him there..I am really not a fan of him at all so I am not the guy to give a fair answer lol..that guy is never winning a cup ever..he is the modern day Joe Thornton, jinxed, hexed..call it what u want..I always refer to him as the tin man..I would take Marner in a heartbeat over Tavares

Wayne! Why is it that you want Girgensons off the Sabres so bad? He's nothing like Okposo was, so stop with the comparisons... Girgensons has never been afraid to get physical along the boards, unlike Okposo... The man has heart who wants to continue helping the Sabres end the lousy 13-year playoff drought, so why not at least give Girgensons a chance under Lindy before giving up on him... As for Jeff Skinner, he needs to be back on the top line with Thompson and Tuch...I mean how can anybody in their right mind expect Skinner to score 35+goals when he has someone like Peyton Krebs as his center? Skinner is successful at scoring goals when he has a good centerman to help set him up, unlike Krebs who can't even help get passes up to Skinner when in front of the net... Hopefully, Lindy won't make the same mistake with Skinner as Granato did by setting him up to fail by taking him off the top line and demoting him down to the third line, pairing him with Krebs and Jordan Greenway... If I recall correctly, Granato followed in the same exact footsteps as Kruger did with Skinner when he was HC, and we all remember how much of a disaster that turned out to be...
@@RoamHockey Rumor has it, Wayne that Girgensons is testing free agency, so he may not return to the Sabres unless other teams offer less money... Although I would like to see Girgensons resign, I do understand where you're coming from and do agree that we do need new blood on the bottom 6... However, we still need to get veterans on this team, preferably with Stanley Cup playoff experience to help lead our young core and get them to the next level...Hopefully, Adams can bring in some veteran players who have grit and can teach our young players how to be more physical and actually hit...LOL
