Really smart bread I had one few years ago . She was the best dog I ever had and I miss her every day. How did he get so fat they are a active bread . I would go hiking and to the beach every day with mine. I we missed a day she look so sad and make me feel guilty.
Low thyroid can cause huge results (porky) if not over feeding must have bloodwork to determine yes or no my ACD had it and for awhile she looked like a balloon
I like your style; you seem to have a balanced approach. I have a heeler mix adopted one year ago. I didn't even know such breed existed and neither did the shelter (they are very little known in Poland). He's had some aggression issues but now, with firm arttitude, is getting better. They absolutely need a 'dominant' owner. This does not mean an aggressive or domineering owner. Firm, loving alpha behavior will get you everywhere with them. Once you've established this, you just need to work out how you will express your expectations of them, and they'll pour their hearts out to meet, and exceed them. Truly, amazing animals.
