There have been 225 inside-the-park grand-slam home runs dating back to 1881 in Major League Baseball. It amounts to about 1.6 such scampers per season. For comparison, there have been 304 no-hitters pitched in MLB games since 1876. Even no-hit games are more common.

@@DeathBat841 best sports documentary ever made, it's that good. It makes me cry at the end, every time I watch it. The absolutely uncanny musical intelligence that means Jon always uses the most appropriate music for every situation and it really amplifies the quality of the videos, helps enormously with that, it really brings out your emotions even stronger than they would be otherwise. I got into baseball basically entirely because of that documentary series (and the Mariners one). Went from not knowing a thing about baseball and not caring about it at all, to being massively into it and spending hundreds of £'s to try and get tickets to the MLB games in London this year. Dave Stieb is now my favourite pitcher ever. Before that documentary came out, I think it was probably Randy Johnson, but either way I don't really know many pitchers because before the Stieb documentary I didn't follow baseball as an actual fan of the sport. But he's just an awesome human being. I love the fact he actually watched the secret base documentary about him. His daughter is on Twitter and she posted screenshots of text messages between the two of them about it, and Dave absolutely loved it, and said "these guys know exactly what they're talking about". Because of that, Jon said he ended up actually getting a call from Stieb and they talked for ages on the phone, which is really sweet tbh. I'm so glad Jon got to talk to him. He said that him and Alex deliberately didn't get in contact with Dave before making the documentary, in order to make it more objective and unbiased, i.e. not just shilling for Dave because they like him as a person and are friends with him or something, but instead just using the story and the statistics and the evidence and the video clips from games he played in to make a documentary out of. Jon Bois and Alex Rubenstein have made so many all time great sports documentaries. There are no better creators of sports documentaries in the history of documentaries, than them two. I hope one day they get the wide public recognition they deserve, and get given a huge budget of millions by a real TV or movie studio in order to make something about sports in the style they have, not changing their style to make it similar to existing documentaries, but in their style. The extra budget would probably mostly go towards getting interviews with the sports stars involved, more than anything else. But if their documentaries got put on a big streaming platform like Disney+, or hell maybe even got shown in cinemas, they'd win all the Oscars, or all the emmys. Just don't even have an Oscars/Emmys ceremony because you know who's gonna win regardless, just give them the trophy for every category, even irrelevant categories. Cos for them to make these absolutely fantastic 10/10 series, completely free to watch, is amazing really. It's very very generous of them. They should be making a lot more money, considering the amount of joy they've brought to people's lives. Jon's documentary about athletes named Bob is also one of the most incredible documentaries ever made, it's shocking just how breathtaking and wonderful and bittersweet and moving it is. It's a documentary about some of the most earthshaking groundbreaking people in history. But yeah. The Dave Stieb documentary more than any other one they've made is easily understandable and enjoyable by anyone, regardless of how much they're into or not into sports, because it's really a story about being human, a story about an extraordinary human being who did extraordinary things. Really, all their documentaries are about that, about human beings, which is why so many of their fans don't even watch sports. I'd watched the Mariners documentary before the Dave Stieb one, I'd watched all their documentaries before in fact. And I loved them all. But I only got into baseball and actually started watching it, last year all the end of the regular season and then all the post season, because of the Dave Stieb one. I finally understood what the appeal of baseball was all about. I've watched plenty of Jomboy videos before then too, but never really was compelled to actually watch games because of them, for some reason. Jomboy's videos are just brilliant and hilarious and he explains everything you need to understand the context of what's happening, so yeah, you don't need to watch these sports he makes videos about, to get what's going on. I don't know whether I'm a Mariners fan or a Blue Jays fan, now. It depends which documentary I rewatched last. I just watched the Mariners one again a few days ago, so I think I support them. But then the next time I watch the Dave Stieb one again, I'll probably become a Blue Jays fan again. Neither of them are overly successful really, except for the two world series the jays won 30+ years ago, so with either team I can't be accused of being a plastic fan, a glory hunter. I was never going to support the Yankees for example. I dunno if I can support both at once really, cos they're both in the American league. If one was in the national league it'd make more sense. I dunno. I'm half English and half Welsh so I already support two teams in international sports lol. But yeah everyone should watch the Dave Stieb documentary series. Even if you don't care one bit about baseball. Because it's not about baseball.

It looks like the ball bounced on the warming track, and hit the top of the wall before landing back on the warning track. By the time Duran sees the ball, it looks like it is falling down from the wall, almost as if it was a home run and simply fell out of the stands. The play blew up on the r/baseball subreddit. I criticized the hell out of Duran for showing no effort. People commented that he probably saw the ball bounce and thought it bounced out of the stands and was a home run. Then others mentioned there was no way he didn’t hear Verdugo or someone else yelling the ball is still in play. Get the fucking ball. Or he didn’t notice Verdugo was running his ass off to get the ball. He wouldn’t do that if it was a Homer. TLDR Duran should be sent down to low A to figure out his defense and what it means to hustle.

Any way you look at it, this was an amazing game, it had everything. The game was full of hi-lites (or low-lites). I want to point out some interesting numbers. The Jays had 29 hits in the game and NO triple, this means the team didn't hit for the cycle. But the Jays DID have a home run cycle as they had a solo shot, a two-run shot twice, a three-run shot, and a grand slam !!! Tapia had a great night at the plate, hitting the inside-the-park grand slam and almost getting a second grand slam (5 or 6 feet short of going over the Green Monster). He could have scored easily standing up and without sliding, but I gave him 9/10 for style points for the head first slide. I was disappointed that the Blue Jays couldn't break the record for most runs in a game. In the top of the 9th, with 2 men on and 1 out, against a position player pitching, they didn't hit the home run to set the record for runs in a game !!! The Blue Jays had a tea party in Boston that night !!!
