"They (BTS)'re not gonna to be climbing, they are big sausages with legs." My Indonesian walking sausage is absolutely a climby boy though, just not a very graceful or efficient one. Any even theoretically climbable thing you put in his tank has to be very sturdy and not be anywhere near anything you don't want him to be able to reach because he's like a very stubborn semiarboreal bulldozer. I've heard that this is surprisingly common in Indos.
I am trying to imagine the conversation - Hey Sarah, let's get you out for the video. Oh, you will be talking about me again? Nah, it is actually a video about Bob and Irwin, but you are cute and you like to hang out under the camera lights
Hi. I'm Paulo and I'm from Portugal, where Jeweled Lacertas ( Timon lepidus ) exist in the wild and I can tell your Bob doesn't represent a typical healthy active Jeweled Lacerta. I used to catch them in the 1980's and I used to keep some as pets, back then. They can be good climbers ( some of them climb trees if hidding or running away or catching prey ) and they need quite some heat and UVB. In the wild they often eat nutritious big insects as prey and, sometimes, small lizards, mice and fruit like grapes, for example, specially in the hottest months. They are a typical mediterranean species with some preference for dry scrublands and they usually roam across big areas of territory. So, if they are healthy, they are very active and fast moving, needing a lot of space, which means a big, big enclosure. They, also, hibernate from October to May, after which males go into fights for females and reproduce, which means that having them without seasonal temperature variation is unatural and may not contribute to their health at all. The biggest I ever saw was around 55 cm long. Still is documented that the average maximum lenght is 80 cm. I can help you with my decades long experience on catching, observing and keeping Jeweled Lacertas if you'd like to have some useful advices on how to improve your Jeweled Lacertas health, life and behaviour. If you do, reply me. Keep up.
hey there. No Bob isn't a typical example. Bob came to me as an adult with MBD. There is no cure, all we can do is give him the bets life and proper care moving forward.
I had a hard time choosing between these two lizards, after my 14 year old beardie passes away. I went with the blue tongue skink as from my research they tend to be easier to handle, I have an indo too a merauke, I’m so happy with my decision! Love my bts 💙🦎💙
I just got a baby northern blue tongue skink the other day and named it Irwin.... I then started searching blue tongue skink videos found your channel and realized you also named yours Irwin lol. Whatever great minds think alike I guess
Jewelled lacerta in the UK costs £50, CB, but not a lot of them around. Indonesian Blue Tongue Skink (CB) around £200-250, Australian BTS £350ish and they are much rarer. I still don't know which one to choose!!! I will probably end up having both lol
Would love to get a Sunbeam... I live in the state of Al in the US... Gotta do more research... Are you familiar with availability... Think by what I do know think that species would b manageable here... ?? Ur thoughts n knowledge welcome. Tysvm
