The fact we have to have Whole Foods is sad. We need a “special” store in order to have access to clean healthy food. That should be a given!
@Abby-hx1nc
@Abby-hx1nc 3 года назад
I agree healthy foods should be more accessible but just b/c something is labeled as organic or non-gmo doesn’t make them healthy. Some of those foods, in fact, are actually more harmful. I think that there needs to be more research into the effects of different foods! But very good point, we need to be able to access healthy options more 😄

what pisses me off is that you need a research to deliver evidence that basic life natural food, living in community and moderate exercising is good for people. We were deprived of all theses things b corporations and politicians because they do not go for the good of all but for their own goals being predominantly money. Now reinstating there blue cone like towns costs much more than it would have to protect these places from these corporations in the first place.

@@snowbird6855 can you cite what vaccinations you are referring to and how they are related to blue zones? Are you in the US? The US does not have federally mandated vaccinations, although states may have requirements to attend to schooling. One of the blue zones is IN the USA. Italy actually has legally mandated vaccinations and a blue zone. Japan has recommended vaccinations ....- basically, I can't find any correlation between blue zones and vaccinations. Some blue zones have lax regulations, some have strict regulations. What you may be able to find is that those over a certain age were born prior to any common vaccinations - but that would be true whether is a blue zone or not. Can provide evidence of a link between the two?

To bad America has lost the art of respecting our elders. Wished we could go back to a simpler time when people respected one another and everyone took their time and enjoyed the simpler things in life. Our brains just can't keep up with a fast paced life style. Humans have polluted this planet so badly over the years. Not to many places left that actually have organic offerings. My hope is that one day humanity wakes up and changes course before it's to late. We need to put this planet first before profits, or we won't have a home that's able to sustain life because it's to toxic for life. Fact.

Returning to the "good ole days" of Norman Rockwell is not going to happen. Technology, corporate profits (as u mention), foreign invaders, liberal politicians promoting LGBT causes, the firing of God in our homes/schools, etc have changed America forever. Our best hopes for familiarity with "past America" is in small towns where people still attend church & raise their families in the church.

I sympathize. I’m becoming more visually impaired over time, and a lot of documentaries and TV programs do have written descriptions at intervals, without audio. As time has gone on, the letters appear excessively tiny and they are up for not enough time. Back in the time of silent movies the letters used to be up for a much longer time. Sometimes I may not have my glasses on, or I listen and rest my eyes. Then I must scramble quickly to find and grab my glasses, put them on, try in vain to focus my eyes on the damned writing, and I generally miss out altogether - on the description, the development, the outcome, or I just manage to grab bits and pieces of the message that usually make very little sense. I feel so frustrated that they do this. Why can’t they have an audio component along with the written descriptions? Is that really so very hard? This is not captioning, this is just someone’s bad idea in format. Also, my son is in a wheelchair and it’s been no end of frustration, inconvenience, and exclusion for us when events are held at inaccessible parks or buildings. I don’t prefer to be socially isolated by any means, but it’s virtually impossible to avoid, oftentimes and that’s not fair. It makes life so much harder than necessary. Regularly abled society is often quite cruel to people who have disabilities. Perhaps at times they don’t realize it but I don’t believe that’s the only reason. There can be a real selfishness and callousness on the part of some people, an immense insensitivity toward those of us who may no longer be or may never have been young, average size and intelligence, and perfectly able. It seems there should be a far better effort for more people to treat everyone as if they too are fully human and welcome.

Interesting that Georgiou starts with the social construction, unlike most speakers who jump first to food and exercise. It's cool because I think that's the hardest thing to change for most of us. It's relatively easy to me to control my own eating and activity, but takes more commitment to maintain a network of other people, and a sense of ongoing purpose. Except Blue Zone team is not working with community but rather corporations and only community as afterthought. That model does not work to spread the program because the community has to start the process and then they can encourage corporate sponsorship afterward. You have to give community volunteers a chance to start the process. Instead you choose to somehow imagine CEOs to come banging on your door. That wont happen because the CEOs use major insurance companies for wellness programs already whether it actually helps or not those insurance companies convince them anyways. Give volunteers a chance and your company will get access but you have to give them a chance to start the process. Your corporate model wont work to start, give volunteer nonprofit group from community club a chance to facilitate!

The blue zone topic always seems to spark such huge debates. Based on my research on all of this I wanted to get a couple things clear: 1. The people in blue zones aren’t vegan. They aren’t keto. They aren’t paleo. Obviously there are outliers here and there but I’m not worried about them for this point. The majority of them eat how the culture around them eats. Just like how the majority of Americans adhere to the standard American diet by default. It’s what they know, it’s what they see on a daily basis. 2. I would argue that food is WAY down the list of things that matter in terms of longevity. I would say that stress is number one on that list, followed by a sense of community, being active, getting sun, etc. These are all things that are severely lacking in the USA imo. We are a highly stressed and tense society only made worse by the likes of excessive caffeine, alcohol and hectic jobs...and crazy drivers. There’s extreme gun violence rates, mental health is a major stigma here and a trip to the emergency room will cost you a leg. Not to mention community. The city I live in is hostile towards each other. Not sure why. Not very neighborly over where I live. I’m sure some US cities are better than mine in this regard. Going to Hawaii was a breath of fresh air in the community department and i felt like one of them when I went. Community definitely matters. After all, it’s who you have to see everyday. I could go on an on about NON-diet factors that aren’t very conducive to a happy, healthy life. 3. And lastly, I’m starting to realize it’s not WHAT they eat that’s making them live longer. It’s what they’re NOT eating. Yes, some blue zones might eat rice heavy diets which goes against ketos philosophy. Yes, some blue zones eat meat which goes against Vegans philosophies. But what’s consistent in all of the blue zones is they aren’t eating refined carbs. They aren’t eating trans fats. They aren’t eating excess sugars and treats. And I think that’s what’s most important; avoid the OBJECTIVELY bad things for you. If you took Okinawa for example, you might think rice is the key to longevity. You’d be dead wrong because there’s so many more factors. If you took Italy’s blue zone, you’d think fish is the key to longevity. Again, you’d be dead wrong because of the other factors. The only thing you can do for good health is avoid stress, have a good community/support system, stay active, get sun, maybe do some meditation, go for walks in nature, take a break from social media and news for days at a time, do hobbies, have a purpose, avoid toxic people who bring you down. And when you’re done with all that, maybe have some REAL food that’s not refined carbs, trans fats, vegetable oils, excess sugars. The things that are OBJECTIVELY bad remember? You never see anybody advocating for these things because everyone is in agreement that they’re bad for you. If the food your eating has controversy surrounding it, it’s probably okay. Some say all grains are bad for you because they are relatively new in the timeline of what we’ve eaten as a species. Yet Others will say that whole grains are nutritious and full of good fiber. This is probably okay to eat. Just Listen to what your body says. Some say meat is bad because it can cause cancer. Yet others will say it’s the most nutritious thing you can eat and we’ve been eating it for millions of years. Ive scoured countless studies on various types of foods and the main flaw that stands out in most of them is that they’re observational studies, not experimental studies. And as you already know, NOTHING can be confirmed from observational studies. They have to be experimental study or it’s all speculation. Meat has never actually been proven to increase cancer risk. Gluten has never been proven to be detrimental in people without celiacs disease. Etc. These things are all left up to speculation/personal experiences and biases. Just remember, correlation will never equal causation. Eat the controversies in moderation perhaps (or dont), but always limit/avoid the objectively bad foods. Easy rule of thumb to remember. But most importantly, sit down and figure out the things in your life that are stressing you most, and fix those ASAP. If you’ve made it this far, you’re crazy. But thanks for coming to my Ted talk. Where do you agree? Where do you disagree?
@cherylbailey4803
@cherylbailey4803 Год назад
I agree with you. Stress kills. One thing I noticed as a nurse for a long time is that fear and negative thinking causes illness way before diet does. Fear and negative thought has a cumulative effect. I found that when I helped my patients remove fears and stinkin thinkin they always got better quickly. Positive thoughts and love changes our health dramatically. I have met people who do not eat healthy diets but they are as jolly and loving as the Buddha and healthy as horses. Then I met many people who stressed and feared over the perfect vegan diet to end up really sick. I am just an observer reporting what I observed. I’m sure the jolly happy vegans I met stayed healthier, but many of the vegans I have met are negative towards other people who eat meat. They also tended to have fears around death which is why they are vegan. One vegan friend I had stopped being negative and fearful and said to me “I am going to die no matter how much kale I eat” LMAO

The celiac likely caused the Graves. Several papers showing the link between different factors and autoimmune are very well established. (Gut dysbiosis, hormonal imbalances, chronic stress, Celiac disease, mold poisoning, and EBV Virus are among the related factors to autoimmune disease. For 90% of people who develop them, it’s strongly related to previous factors like those I mentioned. Probably the best thing you can do is a Raw, Plant-Based Diet for 1 Month (Dr. Brooke Goldner method) and then do a week-long water fast. Those will tremendously help to either weaken the autoimmune activity in your body or even put it into remission. However I would urge you to find out what triggered them for you. Autoimmunity was once rare, the fact that it’s much more common nowadays has to do with modern excessive lifestyles and the consumption of hyperprocessed foods, with pervasive seed oils.

Celiac is caused by glyphosate. Remove glyphosate from diet…..all gmo crops use glyphosate. I removed glyphosate foods and my gut healed. So yes health is a choice, but if you don’t know the cause of illness there is no choice. Research and read about how to remove toxins from the body. C60, glutathione and NAC removes these toxins so very well. I healed and now have great health just by removing toxins.

it's a bit obvious diet, exercise, socializing for stress, purpose, but hard to do in real life, especially when it involves the cooperation of other people, that's why religion is important, it "forces" people to events.

You don't need religion for that. It's about community, belonging - not fantastical beliefs. A Zumba or art or reading group will give the same fulfillment. They're just limited on Ikaria 😜

I think the "faith based service" is more about believing in something in general. It gives hope and the idea that the existence doesn't end with death, that there can be more we can work towards.

No, they don't. You are confusing Hong Kong with Okinawa. Okinawa has the longest life span....fish, seaweed, walking.
@MarmaladeINFP
@MarmaladeINFP 8 месяцев назад
You are correct. Okinawans used to have high longevity back when they ate lots of pork. But the post-war diet has led to declining health and longevity. Hong Kong residents and the Japanese, on the other hand, have had increasing longevity as they've increased their meat intake, particularly red meat.

I can understand why, living in egocentric, hedonic and competitive "...just one more to take because it's there," is oxy-toxic, and so, though a life-long anti-Communist because I lived under it in power, I do think that the notion that "possession in 99% of happiness"-- the essence of anti-social environment-- causes aging stress that shortens life. But how bad that "Amerika" is does not mean that the other "America" you advocates that much better. Our medical fields need answers so that physicians can stay employed by corporate cannibals that own healthcare. So, in fact, we are not sick and dying because we consume too much, but because we think we "know" that we must constantly acquire too much. By doing this we preclude any benefits from any of your Ikaria suggestions because, whatever benefits Ikaria may offer, by the time we get there we are irreversibly toxified by the American will to enrich and to up our brainstem dopamine. By 25 it's too late as American culture has irreversibly damaged you!

Just go plant based. Don't eat too much. Exercise. Drink green tea. Don't go to sleep too late. Meditate. Write things you are grateful for. Be kind. Help others. Live longer.

Their research is biased. Vegetarian biased. There's always details left out to control outcome of results. Okinawans eat a lot of pork. Always have.

Medical care in Sardinia is horrible. Dont make a Leftist plug for socialized medicine. Italians take the private option often as there are wait times and poor options.
