The Ransomes & Rapier 45 Ton Steam Breakdown Crane RS1083/45 was moved from Kingscote to Horsted Keynes in order that it can receive some well earned TLC :)
What a beast! I wonder if she'll be in working condition again some time... 9f and 4mt seem to have been burried in those sidings, unless they've been shunted elsewhere?
MLawrence2008 Certainly did, I was looking for sounds of these cranes working when I found it, and my love of 350 shunters stopped me LOL, been to the Bluebell many times and have some videos up myself, don't recall seeing the crane before!
MikesMovies The crane is still undergoing a cosmetic restoration and is hoped to feature in a goods train one day. It is currently out of general view at Horsted Keynes north yard but can be seen (depending on what other stock is in the way). One day the hope is to restore it once more to fully working condition but there is currently no time frame for that. :(The crane was working in the 80's and helped lay the first track panel on the Northern extension from Horsted (See here for photo with the then local MP) - www.bluebell-railway-museum^co^uk/50images/bimages/61.jpgand here for the restoration pages - www.bluebell-railway^co^uk/bluebell/crane/oh_crane.html
