Yeah, that was part of the show's electronics. That said. The announcement moments in Carolina Crown's "Rach Star", Regiment's "Spartacus", and (ESPECIALLY!!) Crown's "E=mc^2" were organically timed to the opener's first performance hit in each show in a way *only* Brandt Crocker could pull off without seeming biased. DCI could really use a dedicated member corps rehearsal and performance campus. And here's a promise I might never have to keep, but *will* keep should I be that lucky: If I ever won the $600M+ Powerball (ahh, the daydreams!) I'd build a year-round DCI performance, rehearsal and education campus fit for use by *each* prior-year top-12 corps, complete with state-of-the-art recording stages, multiple classrooms, and several fieldhouse rehearsal facilities fitted with all-angle video and audio recording technology- a massive gift to DCI to get them out from under the Lucas Oil lease/contract and give them a perpetual space the organization can use at will, 24/7/365. It would be purpose-built *for Finals* in ways Lucas Oil will never be, NFL stadium that it is,. And of course the field Finals would then be performed on- a purpose-built stadium with a *single* seating side, a retractable roof, and a retracting back wall that can together fully recreate the "open air" DCI Finals experience of yesterday (but is still engineered to reflect sound properly when closed!)- would all be constructed with DCI's specific acoustical needs firmly in mind from the ground up... and it would be named after the Voice of DCI, forever. It would eventually move to the purpose-built Crocker Field, on the newly-developed DCI Campus. Permanently. No other name for that field is so apt. And I'd straight-up *give* it to DCI, no strings attached. I wish I could do this. I don't need much; DCI is one of the best examples of what humans can do, artistically. I'd love to give it this little fantasy, give it a home it owns outright for all purposes. And maybe lightning will strike me dead tomorrow.
Never been a blue coats fan but they should have one first place just for the 11:17 through 11:39 mark alone. The GE on that is off the charts. Whoever came up with that needs a fucking raise!
Interesting that all four GE judges gave Blue Devils a perfect score and bluecoats 0.4 or 0.5 below that. If it was even a close competition usually judges would place them with a difference of 0.1.
@@matty_c L + Ratio + I have more cookies in cookie clicker than you + Do + people + actually + use + these + unironically + as + an + argument? idk I deleted twitter a year ago.
@@javrami4883 it would be awesome if someone could analyze the chords and chord progressions in this part. I'm absolutely rubbish at identifying chords and harmonic dictation
this show never gets old fun fact, finals night 2014, I wholeheartedly think the crowd willed this show into 2nd, you can hear the electronics here because they're mic'd, but on finals night, the stadium was so loud you could only hear the hornline and my lawd it was glorious
FAVORITE MOMENTS 0:57 THE BLUECOATS 4:03 the crunch is INSANE 5:48 the hymn of acxiom 🥰 7:16 AAAAHHH 9:39 baritones and mellos 🤩 9:58 contra feature!!! 10:23 trumpetsssss 11:09 THE GREATEST ENDING IN BANANA SPLIT HISTORY
For me, this recipe definitely deserves AT LEAST a 98. Was it better than felliniesque? No, but it was surprisingly clean with difficult music and indisputably the greatest show ending of all time. If that's not deserving of a 98, I don't know what is.
@@guntherwhite2043 Definitely should've won general effect imo, but everything about bd's show was cleaner and that's just something that can only be disputed by those with the most trained ears, aka the judges.
In terms of GE it was definitely better than felliniesque at least for me, but honestly Blue Devils show almost always bore me to tears, no matter how clean they are. Only one I found entertaining I can remember was the into the woods show
Consider 1991 Star of Indiana for best show ending of all time. I'm also a sucker for 2000 Cadets. 2014 Bluecoats is a worthy choice, but not indisputable.
This can literally be said for every Bluecoats show the past 5 years, everyone knows they make the best Banana Bread but the judges don’t like Bananas…
Idk for some reason bd just rocked the time between 2009 and 2019 with 7 titles yikes the 4 other wining a being scv blue coats and Carolina crown and the cadets. For sure bd won a lot
These comments! I’m dying of laughter at the PURE CREATIVITY! I’m new to this and getting into all of these new recipes. This banana bread truly takes the cake! We’ve been blessed with this glorious banana bread recipe from the Bluecoats once again!
Sadly if they did this show any other year they’d have a chance, but BD 2014 was performed so clean and had amazing design. As a huge coats fan I wish maybe they’d have done this show at a different time, but the silver medal they got in 2014 certainly helped to get their gold in 2016
@@iainoam2565 Yes. Though compared to 2016, indeed a very important year as it places them on the founders trophy. It's agreed that Tilt and Metropolis are truthfully what propelled Coats into being a hallmark and staple in the activity. Tilt by all default is Coats masterpiece.
I think my favorite moment in this show is the incredible ballad hit at 8:00, but then followed with someone in the crowd yelling out "SIX WORDS" in the crowd at the silence at 8:20. Those words have become part of this show now in my head, i will always hear them there, where they belong.
Seen this too many times now that I’m just waiting to for those “SIX WORDS” to break the silence😂 it used to bug me a lot, but then of course it’s a corps pride thing, so I can let it slide nowadays haha
I come back to watch this every couple weeks but the ending makes me cry like a fuckin baby every time lmao. The closer is just so amazing with the audience all cheering, I can’t even put it to words
I come back to this at least twice a week, I listen to it on 100% in my band room and even my director agrees that this show is a work of art i love it so much
I’m so upset that this really nice well rounded banana bread recipe with such sweet brown sugar in the middle still wasn’t enough to win 1st place in the bake off😡
BD literally won 99.65. Like ok maybe if it was .5 difference but it was like 2 points difference. If there was that big difference they were going to get 2nd place no matter what judges were there
The snares foot getting caught on the tarp makes my heart drop everytime. Great recovery and almost unnoticeable!!! Recoveries impress me so much. This show will always be in my heart.
I love how the mixing bowl has used that one single sound scape for so many years perfecting it all the way to 2023, really gives the bread some texture
This is my favorite marching band show, EVER. I was first showed this at my marching band camp in 2015. I’ve been in love ever since and it still gives me chills every time. Love the Bluecoats as I’m from Ohio 💙
i still cant begin to conceptualize how awesome it would be to be a part of making this slice of banana bread. Genuinely still one of my favorite recipes even beyond the crown version from 2018, which is a personal favorite flavor of mine
my school had a movement in our show a few years ago with this same melody so when I heard it in this show my brain started malfunctioning Lol I hadn't realized where it originated from
I would really like to point out the flags at 10:10 It's just so cool seeing the flags fly through the air from one person to another with such amazing timing.
@Maya Albina you mean the blueberry muffin recipe didnt even come close to the banana bread recipe-right? no idea what youre talking about, this is a video about banana bread.
30 years ago, the Bluecoats were a perennial 8th-12th place finisher. The Cavaliers didn't win a championship until 1992. Carolina Crown was a Div II corps (back when it was "A".) Amazing how things changed. The Cavvies completely owned the early 00s, CC won 2013 and Bluecoats won 2016. If you had told someone in the activity in 1990 that the Bluecoats would someday win DCI, they'd have laughed. And now, for the first time in 50 years, the last corps to reach Finals every year is out. My beloved corps, the corps in which I marched, with all the thousands of alumni, and they couldn't keep it afloat. What a shame.
i do love the percussive sounds of the ingredients being added to the bowl at around 4:35, and i must say i must say this is one of the better recipes ever produced by this blue team, surprised they didn’t win the bake off that year with this marvelous recipe
It’s funny, and very cool that this show would still hold up today, and potentially compete for a title. It has the demand, GE, impact, so many memorable moments Also it’s true much more so nowadays, no one can beat those uniforms, good grief. 2013-2015 Bloo Uniforms are incredible and nice AF👌
I come back slowly over the years and this banana bread never ceases to disappoint. I absolutely love this bread. It’s honestly what made me love banana bread.
Marching band? No, this is a banana bread recipe. Although it’s one of the best of all time, it has no ties or connections to a high school marching band. Smh
Crazy this banana bread recipe was dropped 9 years ago. I remember when it came out. I was very excited and I still make it from time to time all these years later!
yes i found ittt.. came back to see if i still get goosebumps. oh, i got em' alright. THIS IS .. DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW GOOD THIS IS!?!? if you watch the show in its entirety and aren't moved by it.. i just don't know about you.
@Micah the Nerd Saxophonist are you basing this on the show itself, or; are you basing it on your annoyance at its popularity? There was no tone as I typed that, just to clarify.
I've probably watched this 30 times. That closer has batted 30/30 in goosebumps delivered. The pivot, flare and POWER, man. Jesus H Christ on a popsicle stick.
