This unit killed the battery way too early in my tests. I was a bit disappointed.

[Harness the Power of Sun] - The built-in MPPT controller supports up to 200W of solar input, enabling you to make an ideal solar generator with BLUETTI PV120/PV200 solar panel. [Reliable UPS] - EB3A instantly provides backup power when the grid fails, protecting your desktop PC, file servers, and other sensitive devices from data loss or damage. [What You Get] - BLUETTI EB3A portable power station, AC charging cable, user manual, 24-month warranty, and friendly customer service.

You deserve some credit for your reviews, my issue is with the battery powered inverter units, all of them not just the small ones like this are very limited and you have to be able to charge them, for extended power failures this requires another considerable expense and you still are left with not a lot of power
@MotoCheez

That's true, it's good for short term emergencies depending on battery size. For camping it's great. Solar panels are a plus if you have enough sunlight. A gas powered generator can be (recharged) much faster 😁

Well you can take regular batteries like golf cart batteries and get a small 800watt inverter and plug the charging cord for the bluetti in and you get a alot of amp hours with this unit. If its at 100% it will use whatever batteries you use power first then then the bluetti battery

I do use pass-through charging I have it to back up my internet and Wi-Fi, but the wattage is well below what the charging capabilities are. You'd have to subtract the wattage to come up with a total wattage used and that would be what the drain is on the battery so for your example 60 watts draw should last about 6 hours

That noise you are seeing on the AC output when in UPS mode is likely from the charging circuit for the battery. It is similar to what you can see from a switching type of PC power supply. Most UPS have filtering for this. I wonder if plugging the AC cord into a good Trip Lite surge protector (which has very good 2 and 3 stage filtering) would clean this up. Very thorough review!

You were not giving it an accurate load test. Load tests should be done with purely resistive loads... Like a resistive heater. Using a fan is an inductive load which is measured in volt-amps rater than watts. If the bluetti was showing 450 watts, it was probably supplying more like 600 watts in reality because it had to power an inductive load. I expect if you redid the test with a 450 watt resistive load, it would run longer before shutting off. Regardless, it was an interesting test and did show that the bluetti functioned pretty well.
@MotoCheez
@MotoCheez 2 года назад
Interesting, some of these units I've tested have a resistive load setting to raise the wattage for electric heaters.
@chronobot2001
@chronobot2001 2 года назад
@@MotoCheez My understanding is... They don't actually raise the power output going to resistive loads but rather, they lower the output voltage so they can increase the current going to the resistive load... And since power (watts) = volts * current, the max power output is the same.
@MotoCheez
@MotoCheez 2 года назад
Yes, that's how I read it in description. I use fans because of real life situations, will do a refrigerator next unit I test. Don't forget the start on a motor has a lot of peak amperage which is a good test for the units.
@chronobot2001
@chronobot2001 2 года назад
@@MotoCheez I have a small freezer that uses 60 watts while running but when I check the volt amps it says 120 volt amps. The appearant power is huge. I an going to put a ceiling fan capacitor in the circuit and see if it helps. I expect my inverter is having to supply the whole 120 watts when it would only need to supply 60 if I could counteract the inductive reactance. This would make all the difference in the world because 120 watts would just about take my battery down to zero overnight. I'm also thinking about pitting the freezer on a timer so it would only run a couple of hours in the middle of the night to see if it saves the battery and still keeps everything nicely frozen.
@MotoCheez
@MotoCheez 2 года назад
A few years back I had a peltier junction type refrigerator for the car and I bought the circuit that senses low voltage so it shut off when it hit 11.5 volts and it wouldn't kill my battery. I cut it into the top of the refrigerator so it was a permanent amount and it actually worked pretty decent. , not sure if capacitor would help because you know how inductive style resistance is.
