Last week an X6 came in with this engine. 480.000km. The car had only 1 timing chain change and the rest of it was just regular maintenance. No injectors went out, no other problems. The engine is still purring perfectly
The M57 are bulletproof the newer N57 on the other hand are rod and main eating garbage. I went trough 3 engines in 6 months for my f10 530d... I hope the B57 are better with time...
@@abdbach379 unlucky, my dad had a f10 530d with 350.000km the only big job that was done were the timing chains and the transmission service which was all done by the previous owner. Really good car he paid 11.000€ and the car had 310.000km he drove it for 2 years with no issues and sold it a couple of days ago for 15.000€ with 350.000km haha so for him it was a really good car.
I've always loved the sound of big trucks and most of them use inline six engines here in Argentina (Scania, Volvo, Mercedes Benz...). They sound DEEP at low revs, it's just amazing, and I've heard a few 35d BMWs sounding a lot like that. 😅 I'd love to try this 335d!
Max, your brilliant review of this car 6 years ago made me go and buy one! Still have it and still love driving it!...best car I've ever owned by a long way. I've never felt the need to tune it.
Thanks autotopnl for testing my car. Max and martijn are two down to earth friendly guys. Was fun meeting you. We will meet again with other cars in the future😊. Greetings çetin
Thanks for letting him test it, i bought mine a year ago, had wanted one for a while and after watching this vid I went for it, looks exactly the same spec as yours except with the wheel on the correct side 😅 yet to do any mods except taking off the run flats. But I feel the time is upon me, thinking of doing suspension first though, feels a little too springy and floaty to me, do you have any thoughts on that?
i have this car with the 330d engine. has a tune to 340hp and 680nm. Runs still great after 380k km. i can agree this review 100% with a even more powerfull diesel
Ive got a 2016 335d xdrive touring with the xhp stage 3 gearbox map and a stage 1 power map its rapid its 370-380 bhp with between 720-750 newton metres its a right sleeper its ace it sounds awesome for a diesel aswell 👍
@@timbob1145 A company called rev limit tuning in Middlewich,i definitely recommended getting the xhp stage 3 for the gearbox first it transforms it from a good gearbox into an awesome one it also removes the torque cap bmw put on them standard from the factory then get a good stage 1 remap you can go stage 2 with a big intercooler which is what iam going to do in the long run 👍
@@appletime4581 thanks for the info mate, I'm gonna leave it stock through the winter then next spring I'll be ditching the run flats and probably doing exactly what you've just said. Looked at eibach/bilstein suspension set ups for after that. How's the consumption after the tunes?
@@timbob1145 yes very good 30 to the gallon town driving stop start in rush hour thats not booting it and on a run in eco mode on cruise control between 70 to 75 it does 50 plus to the gallon very good all round car you wont be disappointed 👌
@@appletime4581 wow, that's better economy than mine is now 😀. Already very far from disappointed. Been wanting one for about 8 years and finally got it, delighted. Cheers again mate. Hope you keep enjoying yours and it treats you well. 👍
I have the F30 330D, stage 1 around 300hp, its all the car I'll ever need, just took a trip to france and back in it, no issues whatsoever! 60mpg when cruising at 65mph
First @georgfranko the 35d are twinturbo if i remember correctly. Second @derbigpr500 Did you own a BMW with the n57 engine? because I did and did the maintenance myself and I always take care of my cars as an enthusiast but I still went trough 3 N57D30A engines for my 530d f10 because of rod and main bearings failures. The BMW mechanic who did the swaps had a wall of failed N57 blocks in his garage. I'm a BMW fan too but at some point you have to stop being delusional because it will cost you thousands of dollars. M57 were bulletproof, N57 are not.
@@abdbach379 This. I'm thinking about getting a late E92 335d LCI as those would always come with M57 and I hope that it will be at least as reliable as my current N52 330i
Before my dad got his S6 in 2019 he had a 335d wagon, i enjoyed it ALOT, personally i love german diesels but his new S6 and the X5 he recently got are really good
So relentless these MBW 3.0 TT Diesels. Such a silky smooth car to drive. A really nice, near perfection drivers cars, so long as you get one that's been cared for.
I have a 2017 (touring)335D Msport Xdrive, have it engine and gearbox mapped approx 396bhp and 645NM torque. Lovely to drive ,super quick with 50mpg at 65mph on the motorway. Its super practical and fast with the tune.woukd recommed to anyone. Great video guys ,tys to your subscriber for lending you his car.
@@pharospix9211 I also had a 435d same engine combined I have driven both for over 100,000 miles no problem whatsoever . The gearbox can take up to 700nm . I have changed nothing else the car is stock. My recommendation map up to 400 bhp. Ironically the transfer box on my 435 went wrong before the map .
@@antonystarling gearbox is rated for 700nm but since these have been out for while now people say anything over 1200nm is when you start seeing issues.
The lci if this gen still looks up to date. I remember in 2017 I was like ‘what are they going to do to improve on the next one’. The new one is better in different ways but this 335d was so cool at the time
I was looking for this specific model and engine and i finaly went for the audi A4 tdi 272ch instead. Tried the beemer and it wasn't very sporty in sport, not very comfy in comfort either, and the interior felt very small. The audi is even less sporty but you got real confort for long distances and the interior is much more roomy. I know it's a matter of preference but the audi is a better daily imo. (and tops out at 350hp with a stage 1 which il quite similar in real world perfs)
i was driving to a 3 series bmw this weekend he wanted to race my m3 ,, funny i had to make a pretty big effort and had to use even use the kickdown in sequential gear to pick up on him a bit !! i was a bit shocked actually .. just dont mess with diesel lol
mijn broer heeft precies de zelfde 335D 550pk en boven de 1000NM Hibryde turbo op methanol stage 3 straight pipe 3.2sec naar de 100 die 335D's kunnen veel aan
excellent video. But we need not talk down on diesel as if its gonna disappear, its like "accepting" it. We cant accept that so we cant talk like that thank you ;)
I have a f31 330d myself with a stage2 and stage 3 xhp tune, ive reached 270km gps, what i dont understand is that my interior ratlos and queeks everywhere.. and i have a full option interior with coral red seats and oem bmw m alcantara trim
Mine rattled and squeaked when I got it. Found out it was the door seals rubbing on the shadow trim (common if using a silicone based cleaner) so cleaned both off with rubbing alcohol and no sounds since. Unless yours is in the car itself?
I have a F32 430d Xdrive with a soft remap 321hp/646nm, vmax off, it does 282kmh with gps. No issues so far👌The car does Track days and plenty of autobahn!!! Important is warm up the engine and don’t reve it when is cold. Very much important. About brakes,…….disaster🫣
330d is single twin scroll turbo, the 335d is a sequential twin turbo setup (one small turbo and one bigger turbo). This same engine in the 5 series even came as a 550d that had three turbo's and later even four.
You ever want a drive come see me, was also my dream car for about the last 8 years, finally just bought one last weekend 🤘👌👍 defo fast enough for me, for now at least 😅
@@rdosaa also, I do get the sarcasm about the Chiron obvs, but realistically will I ever have a Chiron... no. This car was achievable and extremely practical for daily use but also very quick. I can smash most cars on the road with this with a roof box on top and my dog in the back. 😂
Love mine. Does everything I want, fast when it needs to be, carries everything inc the dog and also tows our 1450kg caravan with ease. Just a shame that we are looking to be all electric by 2030 in the uk so these are a dying breed.
Never say or believe things like "it's looking to be". By doing that you're helping to make that a reality even if you don't realize it. The only reason these criminals have any power is because people believe their lies and comply.
This is a stage 1 car. The xDrive 35d cars of the f3x series launch like a rocket, 0-60 in under 4 seconds is not a problem. Can’t launch like that with a heavier E6x without xdrive
