This is exactly why they don't steal iDrive systems out of BMW's. If it was plug and play that would be too easy. Get yourself an Icom and ISTA-P and you'll be able to do it yourself. Great Video George 👍

Done an Android install on the E60 and had the same issue, it's was the fibre optic that wasn't completing the loop that gives the OK on the whole system also displaying the SOS call failure. There's several ways around it with fibre optic loop's or using ista but you need to disable the whole SOS system which wasn't a problem for me as I don't use the BMW hand set. Could possibly be your issue or maybe not with it being a 7 series. Pretty sure you'll work it out, enjoying what you've done so far 👍

Hey George.. Try swapping out the tuner module in the C Pillar or code your existing one. Definitely swap out the Bluetooth module in the boot . I’ve done all these mods in my 2004 730 and everything works as it should. Good luck 👍🏻👍🏻

Did you have to code anything after you swapped all those parts? I have all parts from the same car. Mines an 03. All parts came from 2006.

Great video mate, we could feel your pain. Be good if you can sort yourself, my E65 LCI had fault with Idrive before I bought it years ago previous owner took to BMW invoice says £661 for programming of control unit 🤣

I think you just need to change the VINnumber of the radio, all modules need to have the same VinNumber.

You should buy the PEMP aftermarket market radio, it’s plug and play and extremely worth it for those that can afford it

There was someone in Australia who had a youtube channel about 10 years ago (sadly no longer there) who totally face-lifted his silver 760. As I remember, he used a tool like "BMW Explorer" or "BMW Scan" to effectively experiment with all the individual coding options on each module. I suspect you have a logic 7 amp issue (they are junk and break all the time), so you should swap that out as well if it exists and works in the donor car. I doubt you will be able to get anyone to do that for you, as most BMW coding is an automated child's play process using the vehicle order. When modules not meant for your car are found, they cannot be coded at all. Obviously, it could be done with NCSexpert but far easier in BMW Explorer.

I have 735 pre, but put a lci MMI-don't know what engine code, buy on auction. Codeing it well by ncs expert by "zero MAN file" Everythings works well. Climate, navi, enterteinment Ob data, but oil level mesaurement not. Question is: how to eneble oli level mesaurement? Did you resolve this function? Waiting for answer. Have a good day bro!❤

Oil measurement doesn’t work in the LCI MMI… Not worth using it anyway when you have a physical dipstick 👌🏻

Plug every thing in with the battery disconnected. Then put battery back and start the vehicle leave running. Let it reset it self.

There are good cic and idrive android kits available in China. With all cables you need. The best one is with sound processor costs approx 350GBP with carplay android auto etc etc. You can keep using the oem bmw unit and jsut switch to carplay by pressing one button. The price for used outdated cic and idrive is just crazy and it is not worth it.

@@GeorgeAusters I have e92 with cic but no bluetooth media combox. supports calls only. I know I can retrofit proper oem music combox but it just costs too much. I am planning to get android unit for carplay after reading some retoifit reviews on drive2 . Carplay with native button support, exactly like in very new cars.

@@GeorgeAusters there are good solutions for CarPlay etc that keep the existing screens etc but give you modern functionality, the box fitted to my 130i is one of the best things I fitted because the CIC system is utter dog shit these days. It was a bit of a come down after the pro nav in my previous M140i. It still looks totally OE.
