Great video. I recently had new front discs/pads on my E91, which lately developed a vibration. The garage I took it to say the discs have warped & destroyed the control arms as a result. I find this hard to believe! Is it more likely the arms had play when the discs & pads were replaced? I’m not sure what to do now & don’t trust the garage to sort it so tempted to replace the arms myself.
Hi mate, been watching your videos and have helped me loads on my n47 318d. Could you tell me what the vacuum box does under the egr cooler. I’ve removed my egr/cooler for obvious reasons and wondering if the vacuum box that connected to it needs anything to clip onto or is it ok without anything to connect to Thanks
Good stuff bud I'm in Illinois and I found it helpful will follow too. I have one more thing you could add is that the fogging sensor also can cause this issue to happen.
Hi George, love your videos. I am in the process of taking the engine out. I have 2010 BMW X1 Xdrive 20D manual gearbox. Do i need to take out manual gearbox too? Thanks Vish
My brother was lucky he turned his car over and found the belt sqealing upon investigation found the crank pulley on the road and the belt just holding on so engine saved
Did you code the bulbs out yourself George? I swapped just my parking lights out for LED's after one halogen failed. Was met with the glorious fault noise each time I started the car until I swapped them back 😅 if so, how's best to code them out? An overdue thanks for everything you've helped me with previously.
Excellent video mate, thank you!!! Tip, if anyone is dealing with a botched valve cover torx bolt as i did in the worst place of all bolts i placed a piece of clothing material over the bolt and tapped on e-torx bit and proceeded as normal came off no issue at all!
That insulation is RCF my friend, RCF is classified as a Category 1B carcinogen and has properties similar to asbestos. Be careful when gutting a DPF, make sure you were a suitable mask.

i dont care what the car companys say,i change mine every 5000 miles, looks to me these car companys extend service periods just to make them more desirable
I get my F10 B47 done at 13,000 - 15,000 miles. Mileage is at 114,000 Miles (Predominately motorway miles) Mileage type is a very important factor in general health of vehicle, I believe it is the best indicator for frequency of oil changes: as the vehicle regularly gets upto temp and has a good run. Also, I only use Shell V Power/BP Ultimate Diesel. Car is running as new: original turbo/chain/glow plugs/battery etc
George, i have the Z26 in my e91 as well, do yours flicker for a few seconds after starting the car or not ? Otherwise they are good bulbs, no errors, no adapters and they don't seem to be blinding other drivers.
I buy 20l of oil from BMW for £56, comes in a cube with a tap. Oil filter is only £9 for the N47 engine. You need to be cheeky and ask for discount at the BMW parts department.
You should not trust any BMW. All of them they have all the time problems. I have watched your videos and I like your work you have made to these cars etc. But is not you. Is the BMW. You invest money on them you losr your money. I had BMW 118i coupe 2009, 90.000 miles. I took it from a teacher in Nothern Ireland. Full service history everything in order etc. All the proper documents from the services. I bought it 2750£. I went to my friends garage for service everythkmg where looking perfect. A month after I bought the car, I had to chache the coil packs. I did full service another 1000£ away. Another months sensors broken 600 each.. 😬😬 no way again BMW
Think it depends on the miles the car dose. 90% of my driving is motorways and I change my oil every year which equals about 22k miles done b4 changing and all my bmw cars were perfectly fine after 200k and that was the N47 engine. Iv been doing this now for 21 years and al my cars have had no problems at all. So really do think it’s down to the miles you do and how fast you do them. Cus I do 22 to 25k miles a year the oil gets changed every year
Lots of respect for not using a lift. I was thinking about doing a clutch at home, but every DIY video i saw had the car going up on a lift. It put me off from doing until i saw this video. Bravo 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾
yup, just changed the oil after 6.5k on my 320D. Especially on a turbo diesel, you only have to look at the oil after 100 miles to know very regular oil changes are a good idea. What do people think about oil additives like mos2 or ceratec?
Since I’ve just bought a 2017 335d this video is quite terrifying. I was very particular about the car I bought, came from BMW main dealer with full very comprehensive service history but still!!
Great video George. Where can I order a reinforced intakemanifold? Your link do not work. I have a BMW 525D Xdrive F11 2012 with a N47T engine. I have made a plan to replace my intake manifold.
Always stuck to 10k or 1 year. Always used quality oils and filters. I’ve used Morris Lubricants for the past 6 - 8 changes in various cars and have no issues.
Got a 2014 n57 change the oil every 5000 miles ore yearly whichever is first have a good bmw independent garage does its 2 year service and give the car a good look over and i do oil changes in-between Always have done oil and filter changes every 5000 miles or yearly on any car the family have owned
