Hello Yes it did work out for me, The left upper side off the fuses box there was not electricity, On my BMW E46 convertible , the softtop, radio, outside mirrors,Horn , gearbox licht and cruise control did no work, they are working now (ignition switch starter replaced)

Good morning Mr. I am the owner of E39 528i. Yesterday on the way to my job, the dashboard turned off, the radio stopped, no ac working so I looked up to know what happened and it could be wrong with the ignition switch. So I got ready to do DIY for that. But I have a concern that it rained a lot recently and there was leaking on the ceiling of my car so I have a lot of water on the right side of a back seat on the floor and underneath the floor, I guess. The water is still there making the sound of waves while driving. I don’t know if that water affected the wires (the batterie on the right side behind the back seat which is cables connected to) or that’s just because the ignition switch is old and has to be changed but happened as a coincident. I am asking because I don't know how the wires connected to the battery through the car. Please let me know if you don't mind. I am planning to make mine brand new replacing the parts of the body and painting stuff and lucky to find this channel though. Thank you.

So I have the same issues that you have described but I have an e90 335i which uses a key fob/ push button kind of igntion instead of a turn key style. Would replacing the remote key slot help me as well?

I have a BMW 540I ,1999, its the seconds time this happen to me, It begin with sun visor light the steering wheel go up and the radio stop

Can you please help me, I have a 2000 BMW 540i manual transmission. My car won't start. When I put the key in I get no crank no power, all the lights on the dash come on and nothing happens. I checked my battery it's charged. What could this be? I also checked all the fuse. Thanks again

Mill9999 check your starter lock switch under the dash, it gets pushed in by the clutch lever. if you were in a accident check your battery positive battery cable , called the safety battery terminal
