( 0-100 kph / 0-200 kph / 100-200 kph / 200-300 kph ) and test drives on German Autobahn. Please note, Germany is the country of "no speed limit" highways / Autobahn. An E39 530i should go between 244 and 250km /h at least depending on automatic, gearbox and chassis. When it's below the official specs then anything seems to be seriously wrong. This car in the video has some major engine issues.

I have a 2002/10 530i, top speed 230, consumption here is about 25 liters, but it's okay, the most beautiful sound and a real car feeling, which these current cars never give, many people still look at it after 320,000 km, I take better care of it than my girlfriend)) )

Greetings from Latvia. This car has some problems. I also have 530i only manual and it goes better. The max speed I have ever got with this car was 230 km/h if the road was longer I would get a little bit more. M54B30 is a great engine.

Automatic gearbox in e39 is slow. I had two of them 1999 523i manual and 2001 530i automatic, and they were acceletating the same. Manual 523 is giving a lot more fun, but for long trips 530i is best car ever.

Der Motor läuft nicht wirklich auf voller Leistung, deshalb leider nur recht schwache Performance für einen 530i. Ich habe einen 530i BJ 2001 Schalter mit revidierter Vanos, neuem Nockenwellensensor, KN Filter, sonst Serie. (Wohl sehr wenig Sonderausstattung) Wenn die Motoren vernünftig gewartet und durchrepariert sind, sind die fahrtechnisch wirklich top. Meiner läuft Tachoanschlag auf der Geraden, das sind 252 km/h laut GPS Messung und von 100-200 in unter 19 Sekunden. Ich möchte keinesfalls das Auto als Supersportwagen darstellen, jedoch hatten tatsächlich sämtliche Skoda Octavia RS, sogar ab 220km/h 6er GTI's (220PS), 3 Liter TDI A5/A6 das Nachsehen, recht neue Autos mit zum Teil 20-30 PS mehr auch. (Langstreckenfahrzeug) Manche Leute die ich mitgenommen habe waren echt verwundert warum der so gut geht. Anfang der 2000er hat man kaum eine Limousine mit einer solchen Performance bekommen -in dieser Leistungsklasse- , vorausgesetzt alle Komponenten funktionieren und man fährt nicht mit undichten Vanosringen rum, was bei vielen der Fall ist.

Beim Automat wird im Sport Modus der 5 Gang gesperrt, ich denke er erreicht den Highspeed im 4 ten und eventuell wenn viel Raum ist im 5 ten noch mehr, wenn alle Bedingungen stimmen, ich hab einen 01er 3,0 Touring

@@LM-zl9md nein keine kaufempfehlung. die m54 reihe hat probleme mit ölverbrauch, weil die geschlampt haben mit dem ölabstreifring an den kolben ab werk. wenn du was robustes willst dan holl dir einen aus der m52 reihe. klare empfehlung von den benzinern her. die beste reihe m52b25 und m52b28 alles mit einzelvanos. also alles unter dem baujahr 2000. wirst du so schnell keine probleme haben. sondern nur die üblichen probleme die alle e39 haben. mit der m54 reihe hollst du dir noch weitere probleme mit dazu.

Bimmer Fan Der hat mittlerweile schon 300000 km drauf. Beim ausfahren ging der auch nicht schneller wie 225kmh früher ging der 240kmh

POVDriveGermany habe einen e39 530i Handschalter. Serie 232 ps gemessen und meiner hat jetzt 254 ps. Serie 0-100 6,7 jetzt 6,2 und vmax serie und genauso wie jetzt knapp 270kmh.

The window regulator is a design defect that will break at the most inopportune time. Over the years I have replaced at least 5-6 of them. Even the windows that are rolled up 95% of the time are subject to regulator breakage due it being a plastic part!

schickes auto. jedoch stimmt was nicht. was genau kann ich net sagen. aber ist ja bekannt das die 3 liter nie ihre serienleistung hatten. aber der hier ist weit davon entfernt. kommt mir sogar fast so vor als wenn der nurnoch 160 PS in etwa hat. unser 170psler m52b25 geht halt echt um welten besser. aber streut auch nach oben. prüfstand wurde gemessen mit 293tkm 178PS

Ok, guys i have the same car and the same problem (530i E39, automat gearbox, 425 000 km, but changed engine that has just 100 000 miles). Car reaches 220 km/h, changes gear at 5th, and... Thats all, it doesn't accelerate anymore. Can you suggest somethink?

Alride ido praise to bless. Remember then I lived in england county of Essex village billericay idid have a blag 330i facelift in 2002 the year of our load. It did push through to pushittothemax of 250 km/h the police were note happy with me idid note get caught resultwise they told me slow down as such I did it. Bud itwas on Germany autobahn so I didnote brake speed limits. Ones though at 90mph the police by Heathrow when I went to get my friend they did push blue light in Audi rs6 and say to me “alright sir slow down” as such idid and considered myself lucky. Itwas a beautiful car. Thanks.

In-line 6 is the best engine a low budget can buy, followed by a V12 V12 combines smoothness with low end torque but nothing can beat the smoothness of an inline 6 except perhaps an EV But they don’t sing like these do ;)

I have lately heard on a youtube channel that M54 is the best R6 engine created by BMW. What bullshit is that? They have so many problems causing underpower... I guess only people who owned M52 and then a M54 with some problems will know. Still, M52 is the sweetspot, it has Vanos, it's pulling quite well at lower RPMs but it does now have all the issues the M54 has. But if you're going for the E39, please go for M62B44, it's just a night and day difference between the R6, even if it's the 3.0, trust me, when shifting to 4th gear at about 130/140km/h with the R6 you feel like half your gas pedal potential has been cut off, the V8 just keeps on going.

I drive MANUAL GEARBOX e39 530i. I just changed spark plugs once, i change oil filters and all i need to do to drive carelessly is to refuel, i've never had tons of issues You and internet legends mention... I also have comparison to friends M52B28 and after quick comparison ride, let's put it briefly - it has almost exactly 28/30 performance in whole rev range - simple as that. From the other hand my brother has M62B44 and as i agree it's night and day in general (especially sound :D) however an AUTOMATIC 540i VS MANUAL 530i are very close in rolling race (TESTED). If your 530i is struggling past 130/140 then it has some serious problem. In my case on stock differenial 3rd gears goes nicely up to ~170 km/h and when u change to 4th it quickly pulls to 200 and so on i made it to the end of speedo few times (not necessarily from the abyss :D).

@@an0nim11 I had E36 328i and then E46 330i, now E39 540i, all manuals. 328i - no issues at all, 330i - spent some time to figure out what was causing it to have like 180hp, it was only the fuel pump, original used one for like 10 Euro solved the problem, it was faster then the 328i, it could hit 250km/h but still, shifting from 3rd to 4th made it accelerate waaaay slower past that ~140km/h mark compared to the V8 in the E39. Some of my friends also switched from M52 to M54 either in E46 models or E39 and all of them preferred the M52. Maybe you're just lucky, but there is a ton of owners with faulty M54's, also on race tracks you will rarely find a M54 swapped BMW, most of them have M52's, they're just more robust, don't consume oil like crazy, don't have breaking DISA valves, the double Vanos isn't as "longlife" as the previous one and so on and so on....

@@green1985i Aaah Your right about disa valve and oil consumption that i somehow forgot to mention :D I fixed disa problem replacing it with aluminium repair kit however still have to check oil levels regularly. Anyway im not complaining at all. Now i get your point and believe why u say go straight for m62b44, if You drive manual i guess its even more punchy than auto due to much less drivetrain losses and more direct drive. Me and my brother are both curious what is the real wordl difference between auto and manual 540i. BTW some say "why u go for m62, m60 is much better" i see some analogy to m54 vs m52. It may be older constructions are more robust but if you maintain more modern engines with just a little bit more attention they probably can last as far. Yeah i guess M54B30 is not anywhere near race engine, it was not even ment to be sport engine and its slow compared to especially modern sport engines anyway it was slightly above average for its time and still can keep up with modern cars and outrun many "sportish" version of older and newer cars if in a good condition.

Sometimes in this older engines "little things " rob tons of power. We've replaced 540iA fuel pump either. As i mentioned i changed spark plugs as they were flooded due to typical oil constumption issue and it also helped.

@@an0nim11 yeah, I'm also not saying the M54's are that bad, still better than the newer N54 ;)) They are more linear than M52 and well... if I had to choose between the M52 and M54 in E39 or E46 again I would have a really hard time, cause on one hand you have the more "bulletproof" engines and on the other side you have the facelifted versions. Guess I'd still go for the M54 just because of the fresher looks and some other advantages of the newer models. That's why I have the M62 with Vanos, the E39 before face lift just looks really dated nowadays. And as for the manual... yeah, I guess it's quite the difference, these old gearboxes just shift really slow. For me even the E60/E90 auto's shift relatively slow, the F10's ZF 8HP gearbox is the first automatic that I could actually drive... if 535i's were cheaper ;) btw, are you Polish by any chance?
