BMW E90 E91 E92 E93 Must Know Secrets For Daily Maintenance For Business Contact : Nathan's BMW Workshop Po Box 115 Altenburg Mo 63732 nathan.youtube@yahoo.com
One maintenance item you should include on your list is the belt and pulleys. The idler pulley and belt shredded and left me on the highway waiting for the flat bed tow truck. I shut the motor off because the dash had every light come on and the I drive bong was going crazy with warnings for everything , the no power steering was the dead give away that the belt was gone. My advice is not to turn the car on, wait for the wrecker the belt just had started to enter my crank seal, I was very lucky that none of the belt got into the oil pan, changed front seal and a new belt and pulleys and the car has been perfect ever since the incident. I don't understand why the pulleys are made of plastic, brake cleaner or any chemical sprayed on the front of the motor will lead to disaster, the pulleys melt like butter.
2:49....dude I changed my air filter today on my 2011 e90 328i...and that was spot on that rear duck with the MAF sensor was a SOB to put on and off....spot on bro
One thing about the interior that might be worth mentioning is if the car does not have I drive the radio pixels tend to fade and break I find the pixels in mine good unless it’s mid summer and very hot they tend almost appear distorted. Great video as always
i have a 2011 328xi. got it at 40k did belts hoses coils and plugs now i have 75k. car's been flawless besides oil changes and brakes. I was planning on selling the car at 80k how much do you think i should list it for? body/ interior is showroom kept.
Put the key in the lock , turn and hold it to the lock position and the windows and sunroof will close. If you have an alarm on the thing, press the lock button, after you hear the beep press and hold it again and look at the red light on the mirror and after the light turns off release the button. the car is alarmed, but the proximity sensor is off so you could leave your windows down the alarm won't go off. BMW sells a spare tire kit with a space saver tire you could get a small 12v compressor with tire sealant
bought my first e92 a few weeks ago, and holy shit i was pissed as fuck when I wanted to remove the air filter, had no idea there were bolts on the underside, dropped my wrench down there lol.
Hi naithan I got given an e90 with the n43 engine having a bit of a nightmare with it always showing low oil level change the sensor unit also low oil pressure and overheating.and just yesterday I lost the ability to change gear peddle is ok and no slipping clutch any ideas about the clutch problem thanks
Dude I love your vids!! Your scope of knowledge is superb. You have saved my son and I so much money!!! when you take your wife out to eat so she stops complaining, where do you take her. I just want to call and have a gift certificate for you . so you can call them and make sure it's there before you go!! god bless!!!
Pro tip on the wipers. After you buy a new set for the winter (or whenever) save your old ones (or at least one of your old blades) so if/when one flies off, you'll have a spare to get you home to order a new one. I always have a spare used wiper blade in all my beasts for that reason.
ONLY BUY THE MANN OIL FILTER. You can maybe use a Mahle. I used a mix of Royal Purple power steering fluid with CHF 11s if I plan to have a power steering leak, because Royal Purple’s Synerlec sticks to what it touches. I some people are going to have an issue with the following, but I use Royal Purple HPS oil because I did not like the dry engine sound the engine would make when I started it. BMW’s recommendation for oil(Castrol) is not appropriate. Use good oil.
You’ve mentioned a few times that you can’t find the headlight washer nozzle cover. Strange. They’re easy to find on Amazon, which is where I got mine for 2008 E90. Less than 20 bucks for a pair. Only problem is they only come in black or grey so you’ll have to paint them.
If you have Auto Start/Stop on your car be careful. My starter failed at a busy junction a few years ago (car only had about 60,000mls and I had to call my Father to come and tow me off it. Nightmare! I switch it off now at any junctions.
Hey Nathan, you’ve helped me navigate some pretty tough BMW issues in the past. I have a tricky one for you... I changed the battery on my 04 X5 3.0i. I live in Canada, so it has the American spec etc. I have a battery light on constantly and also at higher speeds (80+ kph) it will flash - seems to be rev related. Any guesses on what the hell is going on?!?
Probably the alternator is going , hook a bolt meter or it when it’s running. And check the voltage , should be at least 13v , if you have a scanner you can check voltage driving at the speed
Nathans BMW Workshop - I just fitted a brand new alternator :( as I did this test before & was only reading 11.5! So I knew that had to be replaced. I’ll redo the test wirh the new alt on though.
Nathans BMW Workshop - I don’t believe it! Brand new alternator! (And you know what a pain they are to fit) and I’m still only getting 11v when it’s running! So it’s not charging! This can’t be an alternator issue! The battery is new too. I’m just charging it fully to ensure the battery is good. 🤦🏻 now what! It’s endless with this thing!
@@englishbuilds check voltage directly on the alternator outlet and it's housing not on the battery and tell us what you get there. Could be a cable problem like the engine mass cable. But check the volage directly on the alternator fist. Also check if your battery light goes out with higher rpm 3000 and above. It could be related to the small cable from the alternator to the instrument cluster/battery light.
I just put a N52 in my 330i. Not sure how long the motor was sitting before I bought it but it's got a terrible lifter tick. Is this normal for an engine that has not been cycled in a while?
i have an 2011 e90 n52 with 50k miles still on the factory starter. the car has never failed to start, but it definitely takes longer than usual in the mornings. would you suggest preventatively putting in a new starter?
When I bought mine with 135k miles I see the owner replaced it around 120k miles according to the service record, mine starts pretty fast even when is cold.
Just bought a 2010 328xi. An older couple owned it and took it to the dealership for every check engine light ( god bless them ) Its got 180 000km How do I go about finding the history of work done on the vehicle? Will the dealership be annoyed to help? Lol There is only one dealership where I live and IF I have to do business with rhem; I dont want to have pestered them with stuff that doesnt make them money.... As much as i love thos vehicle; its potential $$$$ terrifies me! Hah
It’s not just a vanity cover. It can help prevent engine fires. If you get a fuel leak from the fuel rail area, the cover could stop the fuel from spraying onto the hot exhaust pipes. That’s what it’s there for.
