BMW E90 N52 3 Stage Intake Manifold Swap !!! Was It Worth It ??? HP Upgrade ??? 

I hate giving thumbs down, but knocking the 3 stage intake because you only did 90% of the install is just bad info. It needs a tune to properly take advantage of the swap, and that's something you failed to do. No wonder you think it's a waste of time. You didn't do it right.

Did it to my car with a new tune and it made a massive difference. Best mod I've ever done. I think the tune is essential to achieve it's potential.

The tune is essential in this swap. This video has no real before/after test and it’s purely subjective. Please back your videos up with proof before you share inaccurate information to thousands of people.

You probably need the 330i tune for the new manifold to show any type of improvements. Right now, the car doesn't know what to do with the extra parts you just added. There is a reason there is a 330i tune and a 328i tune.

As most other said. You NEED to have a tune in order for the 3SIM to even function correctly.

The E90 330i is the exact same engine as the 328i but it comes with A: Everything you added -and- B: a computer program set to constrict the engine power in various ways..much like how your car has a "govenor" or top speed being set by a peice of computer software. This can be changed, as well as most of evrything else. Its called A TUNE if that hasnt become appearent yet

The tune is literally the whole mod. It wont be any faster without it but with it its noticeably faster. It doesnt help that you were is Drive and not DS which made you kickdown into 3rd from 40mph instead of 2nd from 40mph which is where it is actually in power.

Just bought a 2007 330ise for £2000 and it done 132000 miles full service history,1owner,it's like a new car and it's fast and I've had cosworths,st229s and a selection of 80s,90s,2000s turbo and normally aspirated sports cars and the e90 is the best driving car I've had,it's also faster than most of the cars I've had,my first BMW and I'm very happy with it

You need to tune it lol I dynod my 328 before and after the 3 stage intake upgrade I gained 45 HP to the wheels putting me at 275 WHP on my E93 328

With the intake and manifold change, you need a ecu map.

I’m researching a supercharger kit for the 328i. The 3 stage Intake Manifold is required along with a full custom tune to get the most out of it. So it’s work it if you’re putting that SC kit.

You need the 330i tune but you can go one better the remap you would do if it was already a 330i that way your jump a nice leap with BHP and torque

bms pedal tuner and Nos is all you need

Did the 3 stage with DISA swap on my 128i and immediately felt the gains without the tune, so I can imagine how much more I’ll feel with it.

Not gonna be any faster is it lol you need to take it for a tune hahah, it’s still running on the current ecu settings you have basicly swapped the manifold for a different manifold with no tune what did you expect? Your supposed to now take it for the moselium map for the 330i

Why would you upgrade the manifold and not tell the ecu? The computer is still limiting the air-fuel ratio.

for testing put it DS mode and dont shift let it be in DS it will be way more aggressive

Yeah those fuel ho's :D Actually, I have had a euro spec e90 330i and I would rate it much quicker than this. On a 530i n52 now, which is a little slower than the 330i n52.

My guy need some spark plugs and coils maybe cause when. Engine light is on it reduces power forsure

i have the 3.0 without the disa valves. fast enough in my opinion. those flaps are more trouble than their worth. as with all things flap.

Also to add to what others already said, Noone spends $200 or $1000 or even $500 on this swap. All you need is to buy a used manifold with Disas of some partout guy, Plus you need a cable, a laptop that you likely already have and couple of hours of messing with it. The tune you install stock from a 330 which is free up on forums. If you want to spend more money , yes you may buy a tune that will be somewhat advanced than the regular one.

adds new part, plugs stuff in ,doesn't tell the computer the part even exists, bashes product. the tune is required, as you will see little to no gains on most parts if you don't tell the computer that something is different.

Lol you actually made it slower, the disa needs to be closed for lower end torque, and even when stuck open no check engine will show up.

This one is very slow. You may have some mixture regulation problem. The catalytic converter error will show up after ca. 50 miles. Usually 3IM adds ca. 20HP on a healthy engine.

Are you kidding, you didn't bother with the tune? That's what is responsible for making full use of the disa valves in the new manifold. So much for this being a "BMW Workshop" channel...

Sure, it's all well and good for an E90 guy to just say "just get a 330i." The E91 and E82 never had that engine packaging, and that's part of the fun of the mod-- doing what BMW didn't, and should have to begin with. I have an E82. And having an already lighter, smaller car, I know I'm enjoying it more than a similarly powered and geared E90 or E91 because of it-- add in the manifold and tune, and the 330i would still be a moot point for the same reasons. The smaller, more nimble platform will be even more of a weapon. A manifold is an easy trip to a half dozen parts places where I can grab it my self locally for $200-300 (if I had to guess). Some new DISA's to make sure they're fresh and correct, and the tune... yeah, it's pricier than sticking with the crapshoot in some roached-out X3 donor. But it saves a little bit, and would remove the variable of them being bad.

Did you get it tuned ? If you don't do anything to the ECU the thing will move slower than before.

Lately I’ve been having issues with my 09 328i. When I put the pedal to the floor it starts to go, and then around 3000+ rpm mark it’s start to make a rattling noise and hesitates. When it does that it starts to spit out white exhaust smoke. It also smokes heavier white smoke when I brake quit quickly. It’s burning around 1 litre of oil every 400km. I had changed my valve cover in February as I had a gasket leak and the cover was cracked

If anything, bruh, your car is probably performing worse than before you swapped the manifold in. Hey did you ever get the 330i tune done? I ask because you can flash it for free to a 330i from bimmerlabs website. The 328i flash is only good for 230hp and the 330i flash is good for 260hp as you probably know. Disa works on both flashes but has no hp gain on the 328i flash if your started with a 328i non disa. I may try this soon taking a 128i to a 130i and might poke at you and dean for some knowledge.

What matters is the air going in the engine not the air going out. Back in the days, the only time well oversize our manifold pipes is after we port our cylinder heads. I dont even know why that this is a trend nowadays. Why would you even start changing manifolds, intakes, exhaust systems if u ain't got no work done on your engine. Engine! Damn it. Cams, port holes valves, pistons! Exhaust pipes and manifolds ain't part of what's inside your engines d!@#$ies!

Hey everyone dont be put off by Nathans results of the manifold swap. The manifold requires dme tuning to bring the power up. Getting more power costs money. Its not cheap.

Wrong! you need the 330 tune! I did this to my E91. Huge imprvement to throttle response and low end torque. Imakes it a great daily

My N55 is effortless to 100mph. It doesn't have to rev no where near as much as the old M54 in my E46 I had. Turbo's do that lol

Did you really not map the completely free tune after installing the manifold? If you didn't then you're 100% incorrect in your conclusion.

Better air flow with not very good air exhaust..muffler delete.or exhaust system.....and it's not supposed to go "faster".just take off faster.

Bruh.. how do you put the 330i manifold in and not tune it to 330i? Tht made no sense, ecu doesn’t kno wat to do with the new manifold also it’s similar to the normal 328i manifold so the car just thinks it’s the normal manifold.. that’s like buying a ps5 for 4k gaming but yu didn’t buy a 4k tv😂😂😂
