Many modern BMWs have a hidden menu which allows you to access information you cannot otherwise see. As an example, when my water pump went out, the oil temp was normal; however, coolant was way off the safe limits. This should work on F10, F11, F07 and other models such as 4 series, 5 series, 6 series and 7 series cars.
