Do I have a lemon? Time to find out... Music: www.bensound.com #m140i #m140iShadowEdition #mods #HotHatch #LegendInTheMaking #Project357 #M140iDyno #B58
Great video. On the website the 3 o’clock position states 3 psi not 4 on the standard setting. It certainly does perform better that way. Keep up the good work m8 💪.
Hello mate, just been catching up on your channel. Just a thought on your possibly low horsepower readings-maybe your grill is not allowing the desired amount of airflow required?
I thought about that too, but I noticed that the new B58 cars have a mechanically closed kidney grille (which opens as required) so I'm guessing the effect of the kidney grille should not be that great. But you might be right. It was a hot day, the guy had me drive him around 25 minutes in 38+ degrees C temp before the runs, and I later found some strange brown coolant in the intercooler expansion tank. Oh, and I started getting drivetrain fault due to the fuel after that too. I think it was a combination of the high temperatures, bad fuel and wrong coolant that probably meant the car was underperforming... Or I just have a lemon.. :) I need to take the car back for another test!
@@NoBrainerTalk sounds like you’ve certainly done a very thorough investigation into it and got it sorted. The end of the day the only correct dyno is your butt dyno and it looks to me that these draggy type boxes will take over from the traditional shop dyno in the future and judging by watching a few of your pulls you certainly don’t have no lemon there!
What grade fuel are you running? On 99 octane and 31degrees C mine produced 418 bhp at the crank. Mine doesn’t show a wheel figure Stage 1, panel filter, PPF and Res delete.
Steve, if you have 418 hp at the crank from Stage 1 and res delete only (at OAT 31 degrees C), then you my friend have a very good engine. Was this a custom tune or off the shelf tune? Here in Cyprus the octanes are 95 and 98 (I always use 98). There are reportedly a handful of petrol stations that may have 100 octane, but never seen one in person.
So i've got a 320xi that my father gave me with about 181 hp and I am really looking to get some more power! Do u think it would be ok to put a jb+ into a stock 320xi with 91k miles? So far there have been zero issues with the engine!
Negative, I did not. The 3pm setting is 4.0 PSI of extra boost, and turning it up to max would mean 4.5 PSI of extra boost. This means it had another 11% potential extra boost. EDIT: The reason I did not raise it to maximum is due to reading on forums that in real world conditions it performed best at the default setting, and would make the car response less than ideal at the max setting.
Honest dyno I assume. I dont really believe those 360 crank stock from factory stories. I get about 5 to 5.1 stock without launch in 30 C weather in the tropics.
I also think the dyno was done correctly, but it's possible there is a chance of some engines being slightly better run-in (that might give some extra hp, who knows). I was also getting 5.1 seconds stock (never 4.6). I think it's not just the temperature but also the quality of the roads here in Cyprus (dusty, poor tarmac condition, not really flat). After stage 1 tune and the new tires it went down to 4.7. Haven't done any draggy times with xHP loaded, but it might go down further. But it's a lot of mods and effort to get down to 4.6 which should have been the stock 0-60 time...Anyway, perhaps on a mild winter's day, on the track, she might get below 4.6... who knows? :) An akrapovic downpipe and a stage 2 tune might be the turning point...
@@keithw4920 Wow, what an interesting question! I don't think so because here in Cyprus we should have presumably "normal" fuel that is per EU standards, but then again, I don't know how to confirm besides asking the dealer.... It's not on the sales order, but such a thing would probably not be there.
@@keithw4920 Very very interesting! I guess I have to ask the dealer (as it would be a default option agreed between the dealer and the factory), I don't think it will be stated in my documents... will check!
Hi, JB+ is a tuning box. There's no JB Stage 1 (or JB1) for the B58, the next tuning box available after JB+ is a JB4. A Stage 1 tune does not use a tuning box, but is the process of loading a custom engine map to the ECU, which requires zero or minimal engine modifications (by comparison a stage 2 tune requires at least a downpipe replacement). Hope I understood your question correctly. :)
NoBrainer Talk you can literally see the dyno numbers on BMS website. B58s making well over 300 at the wheels stock. I’d imagine it’s the dyno cause you’re car shouldn’t be making only 260.
