Why did you not open the JB+ unit and adjust it to 100% output first? [Unscrew the 2 screws on the unit and adjust the white round dial fully clockwise]. It is apparently set at 75% factory received
@@NoBrainerTalk Understandable. I have a b58 in a 540i 2017 I want more power without getting a downpipe and supporting mods like new spark plugs or anything so I want jb4. Would you recommend going with jb4 instead of jb+ if im a careful installer and dont care about the extra $300?
@@zendy04 JB4 is superior to JB+ and is tried and tested by a vast number of people. If you are planning to stick with a tuning box, then JB4 is great. But a custom Stage 1 tune is likely to be a better option still. You will get more power without any hardware mods.
@@NoBrainerTalk Yeah but I have a $6,000 warranty. If I get the jb4 it wont affect warranty since I can just remove it without a trace correct? Where a stage 1 tune would invalidate the warranty. Correct me if im wrong please
@@zendy04 I think you are correct that a custom tune would likely invalidate your warranty. There seems to be a difference of opinion whether tuning boxes leave a detectable signature after removal or not. Tuning boxes intercept signals and manipulate them to trick the ECU. After removal there should be no trace, but on the other hand if there is a log kept of any parameters then it might be visible that they were "different" than expected for a certain amount of time. It might be that there is a very limited memory space for logging parameters and a long drive with the tuning box removed will overwrite the manipulated parameters with stock/normal parameters. Generally I would agree that detection of tuning box would be either extremely unlikely or impossible. Hence I would agree a tuning box is likely not to affect your warranty, unless you forget it installed and the dealer sees it when you go in for service/repair/upgrade.
Why put that shyte on your car mate ? It's no more expensive to get a proper ecu map done, with everything monitored on a dyno. Tuning boxes are wank. I had a custom map put on mine, £450 and I know everything is safe, intake temps, fueling, boost, etc, and I got a print out from the rolling road.
I am definitely interested in stage 2 remap, after a catted downpipe replacement (looking at wagner or HJS, 200 or 300 CPSI)... the JB+ is kinda a temporary step up from stock, leading up to bigger and better things... :) Planning to remove it when things get serious...
@@NoBrainerTalk Fair play mate. I have seen quite a few videos testing tuning boxes, and almost all are quite disappointing, some being actually quite dangerous for your engine. Sports cat and downpipe, with a proper remap, will see 470-490 bhp, amazing in a little hatchback :-))
Yes, meaning it is untouched by me. It should be at 3 o'clock setting, meaning 4psi of boost. Although I haven't opened the box to see what setting it is on if I'm honest.
This is about the only way to not void your warranty. Thats the only reason you'd use one. Simple as that. Its not some magic unicorn spunk but its something withour voiding warranty
