I just purchased a 2017 M2 black sapphire 2 days ago, god i love this car, looks great, sounds great, drives great, best car i've ever owned, and ooo it looks so wide and sexy, definetly an attention grabber and i have no regrets whatsoever🔥🔥🔥
Fantastic channel and video, new to the channel, always blows my mind I’ve owned a manual e46 m3 coupe for 5/6yrs now and a bit of weekend car, but just on hp alone 343bhp N/A and the m2 standard 365 turbo charged. Crazy after all those years.
Kept trying to figure out why you could only purchase used copies of the M2 from sailors. Then I concluded it was a Scottish thing. Excellent review. Just bought one and will be alert to this issues pointed out here.
Great comprehensive review, I've been looking at the idea of buying one recently, and this is a sure fire reassuring way to know what to look out for at a potential purchase. Keep up the good work. I have subscribed!
Bought one back in May of this year and this is literally beyond anything I could have ever dreamed of. So happy I bought the regular M2 instead of the Competition, so much fun to drive. The N55 is just the way to go.
Do the Competition and CS models have a different engine? I love the way this car looks and sounds. Torn between getting this and an M4 (which is way more common where I'm from, but has slightly more power)
@@kazvenson Yes. The M2 Competiton and CS models have the S55 engine (same as the M4). I could only use one word to desribe this engine : sad. The S55 doesn't have any character compared to the N55. Sure a Competition and a CS have slightly more power, but it truly won't change a thing. On the other hand, the sound of the N55 engine will bring you so much more joy when driving the car. And if you really want a little bit more power after some time, you can always do a Stage 1 or 2. Best of both worlds (but personally, I don't feel the need to increase the power because it's already very powerful). I have a friend who sold his regular M2 to take the M2 Competition instead, and now he's regretting it and wants to go back to the OG M2. Honestly, I'm not afraid to give you this advice : original M2 all the way. You won't regret it. It's beautiful and so much fun.
@@emsbzrr8024 Wow thanks for the info! I have the m235i, which apparently has the same n55 engine as the M2. And my goodness, probably one the best and hottest sounding cars I've had. Best car I've driven and boy is it a head turner too! But I've recently seen a few M2's on the road and it's even more hotter🤦🏻♂️ I think you've convinced me now😀👍🏻 Thanks again
@@emsbzrr8024 nice thank you bro . My friend let me drive his 18’ M2 and I instantly fell in love . The car is so powerful and nimble , I feel like it cuts on a dime . I drive a 2011 E350 Benz and it feels like I’m driving a damn yacht 😂 . I have been searching for M2 comps but truthfully if everyone is telling me to stay to the OG , i must. Hopefully it will be here before the year 🙏🏼
Never seem your videos before first one I come across, love the video style thanks for the information👍 I love the Scottish accent as well :') cheers pal
LCI/COMP(2018 MY onwards) suffer from rear LED indicator failure. Requires entire rear cluster replacement. Even replacement clusters can fail within a year...! Common on other BMWs I hear due to earthing design fault yet to be cured by BMW apparently. Standard rear boxes eventually rattle too on cold start up due to springs on butterfly valves becoming slack.
Since one cannot say Scottish Car Clan without including my name - I figured I belong RIGHT here. - Enjoying the channel and the truly informative content. - TY from New Hampshire USA.
Everything you said I liked other than external temp gage because if your sensor which is extremely cheap and easy to replace it’s just a turn of the wheel remove 3 bolts take off front left wheel splash panel pull sensor out of its little hole it’s turned in and replace. You’d also notice high coolant temps and car running wrong because your cars outside thermostat also changes the way your ecu responds to car that little sensor just like a wheel speed sensor has made so many people sell good bmws over $120
Glad I found this. Thinking about buying an m2. Greetings from Los Angeles! Too bad I don’t know what you said at all!. Lol jk I’m familiar with all the Scott’s accents and you definitely got a like and sub from me. Cheers
I’m currently looking for a small performance coupe in the future as my first sports car, and the M2 looks like a sensible and practical option. Thanks for the long term review.
Easily the best bmw. I did consider one but got an rs3 as needed 4 doors. Plus my friend had an m3 and the amount of issues and quality problems he had put me off
Evening Just subscribed about to swop my M140 for a M2 enjoyed your video question what are the wheels on your car look stunning I’m getting the same colour as this thanks
I've had mine for 4 years and its only had a right turn indicator issue which I was ale to resolve through OBD settings (it is a very common issue in the M2 forums). Other than that, no issues of any kind, a superb car to drive.
@@gollyroger8906 oh, my bad. It was kinda out of nowhere so I was caught off guard. Not wrong either, just two days ago I was cursing someone in an X1 for not indicating twice in succession.
BMW needs to adapt Toyota's quality systems. Their cars would have better brand resonance to many existing and new customers. The leaks issues had been plaguing BMW for years, and I don't know they haven't moves away from this lol. But otherwise they make some of the nicest looking cars in the world.
I’m buying one next week , a 2017 one with 26,000 miles . It had first service at 6,000 miles , second service at 16,000 miles and just getting serviced now at 26,000 . So it’s roughly a service every 2 years , but low miles , do you think this is acceptable , thanks in advance
You forgot a few mate.. leaking rear differential and cracks on the MPE exhausts! Also.. very noticeable scratches on the inside of the doorsill from the rubber of the door. And not to forget check the MPE exhaust button if working perfectly, it's a common failure. All of these above can the replace under warranty, common issues. Coming from a Bmw M2 owner, great review anyway! Best M car I've ever owned. Cheers.
I have an auto 17 plate M240i if you want to do a buyers guide mate, I’m from Scotland too wouldn’t mind handing it over for a video, not too much buyers guide content on the M lites
Hey Adam! Thanks for the comment, can you drop us a message @ScottishCarClan on Instagram or email us at alba.automotivation@gmail.com The 240i has been requested a few times so we’d love to take you up on that!
I presume if you go and check to see if idrive is showing any parts that need servicing, and you mention this to the dealer, they're simply just going to clear the codes and say the job has been done.🤦♂️ How can you verify that servicing on parts has actually been completed!? Many parts are very difficult to get to, and view without dismantling the engine bay.
I do want this car next in a few years but just waiting to hear about long term issues first such as subframe cracking , vanos, rod bearing(like E46 M3)...
Hey I have a bmw 3 series f30 106000 miles on the clock. Manual gearbox. I’m feeling that clutch judder intermittently when taking off in first gear only. Whats the issue? Is it a clutch replacement I’m looking at? Thank
Had mine (2018 model year) for 2 and a bit years. - broke twice the charge pipe (I heard this many times on my local M2 Wechat group) - Horn replaced - Both rear light clusters changed because of intermittent turning signal faults - Hand brake not strong enough (I heard this many times on my local M2 Wechat group)
Love these cars but why can’t bmw make an engine as trouble free as Ford ? Everyone on my race team has a bmw and constant trouble . Leaks , coils , valves , coolant , oil
Looking to buy an early model m2 lci in black manual.. problem are the crazy car prices at the moment..had a 1M for 10 years and miss it dearly but house forced sale..I think a newer m2 would be nice to try
Mine has had the 2 rear lights replaced under warranty it throws up a turn indicator fault which I believe is common. My horn also stopped working and I had that done. My m2 is also stage 2 now as felt the standard car just needed that little bit more.
@@markspin4596 not sure it was under warranty and I took it in to Bmw and said the horn has stopped working. They replaced it I didn’t ask any questions about what the fault could be sorry.
I just wish it hat the comp look from front, I saw in a lot of videos that it might not be worth upgrading from m2 to m2 comp. but the m2 comp just looks sooooo much better imo
So much better looking than the new one with the 80’s aftermarket front/ rear body kit, absolutely ruined it, a BMW problem last 5 years, ugly cars.this is great.
I have 40k mi on my ‘18. Charge pipe blew, which is common but a cheap upgrade. Other than that, rock solid. N55 is bulletproof. These cars are absolutely amazing and I feel very lucky to own one.
You know what else with that car, the steering wheel is on the wrong side. JK! I like your videos from across the pond. I was possibly looking at the M4 and M2, since getting a Corvette (takes a year after you order or take massive mark-up).
