I'm not a hardcore gearhead but love going fast and not having to work for it. AWD is a must since i live somewhere hilly with winters. I also like being able to whip around back roads while still having something comfortable the other 80% of time I'm driving. Think this is the perfect car for my needs

The stock performance is great. To be honest: 95% will never reach the limit of the car. The other 5% are enthusiasts which want a car for track and have high amounts of money to do this with a new car. They may need better brakes or stiffer suspension. The others definetely not, especially not on the road.

I did on the Penser Joch, when chasing a really good motorcycle rider. It didn't quite have the frontend (due to weight I figure) of other cars I had up there beforehand. But the M240i is an amazing fast daily. And it chews up kilometers like nobodies business. And it will make you smile at everyone of those. Including at petrol stations. It's even really fuel efficient for its power.

Misha you continue to impress me with your amazing driving skills while still maintaining a casual conversation ..lol! Some day I might get there. I'm a new M240i owner and I bought the car for the comfort and power which I'm totally satisfied with. I think if stick with the classification as a nice and reasonably priced "GT" we're good. Car is still new so I don't think tuners have dialed in the right package if you want to increase track performance. I agree though, suspension and brakes is where I would focus

I have a Brooklyn grey full spec loaded 2022 M240i and absolutely love it . For a track day I normally run a Super bike . Although I would like to also run this just for fun . This is a daily driver for me and couldn’t be happier. I’ve had it a little over a month and just going to turn 1200 miles and instead of finding things I don’t like about It I seem to find more things that I do and what I liked before I like even more now. I have run it down some local back roads and twisties and feels like it’s on rails . Tons of power and always puts a smile on my face 👍🏻👊🏻 Misha I appreciate and respect your review . Also Enjoy all of your Volgs ! Oh one last thing on the street I find the suspension very composed and doesn’t get excited over rough roads it just sucks the bumps up and handles great in and out of turns. I think this is the absolute perfect balance of performance and daily practically.

This is as thorough as a review can get. Enjoyed and learned a lot about this little beast. I really think BMW were putting road over track usage for this particular model. They will generally be used as daily drivers, which this thing is pretty good at. If you want to take it to track it doesn't perform too badly at that either. Btw love the spec on the one you have.

Personally, I'm glad they built it as is and not more track focused out of the box. BMW know that the track warriors will tweak and modify to their taste anyway, for the other 80% of owners (and the mixed condition of public roads), stock will be bob on.

@@strongerandwiser2023 What? 72k? Where? Thanks for the comprehensive insight into the car. A huge percentage of these cars will never go near a track but you can't get away from the one word that comes up persistently. Weight, and all its drawbacks. A nice compact and responsive car with some kerb appeal is what we want from this type of car. The engine certainly fills the brief. There seems to be no edginess to the car and a certain amount would have been very welcome. A more sporty suspension eould have helped. Maybe best to wait for the new M2 if you want a driving machine.
@Patrick-bu5vy

Modern cars can manage weight far better than they could 10 or more years ago. Suspensions and tires are just on another planet these days. This means 1700kg isn't really very heavy - especially when you compare that to EVs. The M240i for me is a modern day R32 GT-R.....minus the manual. Straight six turbo, AWD, 2 + 2 coupe with all the power you could ever need on the street. A proper all-rounder.

Recently purchased a '23 M240i RWD. Love it for my daily driver. It's very comfortable can go like hell and can even get great gas mileage on the highway (I got 41 MPG on a recent trip). It is definitely a GT car. I do think it's a shame that BMW doesn't have a more lean, sports coupe in their lineup now (the G87 M2 is portly as well) but also understand that a typical buyer (in the US at least) is not going to be keen on getting a BMW that doesn't have a certain level of luxury, especially at over $50k.

I just got the M240i, and I love the power, but me throwing around my 2018 Civic Hatch really shows the weight difference and for spirited driving, I'd probably want a modified civic over this. But as a daily driver for my wife, that I can have fun with all year round, I don't think there's anything better. Tried the 230i vs 330i, and the 3 series longer wheel base really shows. We have a wagon for longer trips, so for daily and day trips, this thing is great.

Surely ticking the adaptive suspension box on the options list (in the UK it’s standard I think) would make a cheap, simple and big improvement to the track handling? Ok it will only stiffen the dampers and not the spring rates when selecting the sport suspension setting, but if you think about the difference Porsche’s similar PASM system makes, it will help to bridge the gap between the non-adaptive setup and a very expensive aftermarket solution...

Eats up the miles effortlessly and provides smiles on tap when burying the loud pedal. Stock dampers only, which don't feel soft imo. My only minor gripe is with the flimsy feel of both bumpers and their various insert panels; coming straight from an E46 coupé, the quality is shocking. Good question. Some would say RS3, but M240 would be a no-brainer for me tbh

I had my 2020 M240i xDrive corner weighted a few weeks ago and with half a tank it came in at 1614kg so the difference is less than expected actually looking at the specs on paper. Mine has the ZF8 gearbox, adaptive suspension, electric seats, no sunroof and OZ Ultraleggera 8x18 with Goodyear Asy6 245/35 tires on all four corners. Left/right balance is 50/50 empty and front/rear 54/46% with me (80kg) behind the steering wheel so very similar the new model. Changing the front tires from 225/40 at ET45 to 245/35 at ET40 gave a much better balanced car and improved the turn in a lot, on the stock tires it did not feel like a Bimmer to me but now the balance is perfect.

That's a nice setup Did you have to dial in front camber for 245/35 to fit fine? Are you on stock suspension or lowered?

@@elmeleegy9904 Thanks, suspension is stock, no camber adjustments to the front, no rub and no fender rolling necessary

Thank you, I have always been wanting to try this setup especially also for lighter weight wheels.

Interesting to see how BMW are really taking inspiration from Japanese cars in the current gen exterior styling. I see a lot of Toyota 86, perhaps even Civic Type R in the rear styling.

This is my car !!! I'm absolutely very satisfied !!! It's a great car...very performant and lowprofile. In italian autoroutes I've cancelled many more horsepowered cars in my drive experience. It's a superfine pleasure drivin' this GREAT BMW !!!

I wish people knew that much of the front and rear end aesthetic is constrained by the ever changing and increasingly difficult, regulations. You will notice all cars released around 22 will now have the very flat front end with a high bonnet as it is the only design that will meet test specs for latest pedestrian protection regs. The stylists then style within these constraints which is challenging. You will notice in cars like the e90 the front end was very low and pointing with heavily sloped bonnet, as the latest research at that time dictated that the low front end with heavy sloped bonnet was safest for ped pro…most of the things that don’t live up to concept, nothing to do with styling, it’s to meet engineering specs in order to be sold

Do you think a modded e46 330i with stock power could hang with this car on smaller tracks? I think the m3 for sure could. But oh man, it sure does look bad, especially compared to the old bmws.
