That rear end wobble could be the subframe bushings. I had an E92 M3 6MT and the OEM bushings were worn causing the rear end to "walk". Upgraded to poly & the issue was gone
@@darkknightcars7951 Had the same, can confirm a bush refresh sorted that out. I didn't upgrade to poly, I just went to new ones and mine were done by someone else. It cost something in the region of £300.
I refreshed with solid aluminum rear subframe bushings, no NVH increase and the car handles amazing. I went with ohlins coil overs and replaced all bushings on the rear subframe. I think most of these cars deserve a full suspension overhaul.
I’m picking mine up in Ohio and I’m flying over there from Dallas and the drive is 18 hrs! Hopefully the car is able to make the journey without a problem
@@rayjay1753 from what i've heard no you can find some analysis of the different oils in the s85 but i got that tip from troy jeup back in the day and can confirm the combo legit makes the beast run alot better i made the switch after blowing some rod bearings and having to replace the crank
@@thoththeatlantean ok good to know, i really appreciate the info. i will use it on my next oil change. idid a oil change with liquid molly, and literally a few days later i started getting trans malfunction signal and my car went into limp mode
@@rayjay1753 the hydraulic pump in the smg isnt the end of the world just get it replaced and switch to the redline and the motorad and you'll be a very very happy man im sure you realize the 5w 50 will also solve the horrendous oil pressure problem. all of the s85's problems come from the flawed vanos system thats why the f13 got 2 oil pumps. Dont listen to any haters on the s85 i push a mopar jeep now but ill be building a 09 coupe as soon as i can swing it cause literally nothing compares to the e63 m6 NOTHING!
@@darkknightcars7951 Respect for keeping up to date with the maintenance your car is mint, I know a guy who bought one cheap, kept doing donuts, and launches burnt the clutch and couldn't handle M car bills😂😂
Do you still own this M6? Just curious how long you have owned it now. Any more issues? I have M3 F80 right now and I love it but when I was a kid I wanted 06 M3 or the M6 V10. I put a lot of $ in my f80 which is why I don’t want to sell it but I just always wanted a v10 lol
Hey there brother, I hope you are fine. Just a question, so in short I’ve been looking at e63/64 m6’s recently… and there is one in great condition, only 59,000 to 60,000 Miles. The owner is a close friend of ours, and he has been taking care of the car very well. Every morning he would let it warm up properly, he does oil changes frequently… always at the time. And oh one more thing, it’s not a daily driver. He drives it sometimes only. We asked him regarding rod bearings, and he said he took perfect care of the car and he didn’t do anything to the engine, so I’m not sure if the rod bearings have been changed or no. Should we get the rod bearings checked before buying it? Even after he has told us of how great he took care of the car? And let’s say we check the rod bearings and we see they are fine, not in bad shape… we could change later right? This rod bearing issue kinda has us scared, Hope you give advise.
Lovely car. Not quick like an M6 on any level but a great package. Very nearly as quick as a 650i. I've heard things about valve stem seals which worry me so make sure you buy carefully.
A list of problems for somebody looking for the N62 powered BMWs -6HP19z or 6HP26z transmission problems -coolant transfer pipe leak -alternator bracket gasket -timing cover gaskets -valve cover gaskets for both banks -vacuum pump noises -and of course, valve stem seals. Sure you can go for it if you really know how to repair it yourself and the valve stem seals and transmission are in good condition but other than that 😬
So, I've been on the fence about an M6 for about a year. Love the car in every way but, all the engine issues people report having scare the shit out of me. The stuff you listed is all super easy stuff. Would you say an M6 as a daily driver (that doesn't do burnouts in parking lots of go 110mph on the highway) with super low miles is a "safe" bet for a classy muscle car option?
obviously you aint got the pockets to maintain an m6, drop springs? bro people dont even use coilovers anymore. There is a thing called air suspensions now. Welcome to 2022
@@marksgarage7482 nooo I just had the shop cut open the mufflers and weld on pipes so it goes straight through like a muffler delete it’s for sure louder than stock.
