Thanks a lot for the video! Following your advice, I recently swapped out my old Bosch HPFP for a new one after experiencing similar issues: persistent negative fuel trims of around -30 and a noticeable fuel odor in the engine oil, just like you mentioned in your video. After driving for about 20-30 kilometers, I noticed something magical: my STFT plummeted from -30 to 0, and my LTFT gradually decreased from -30 to -13. Next week, I'm planning to change my oil for a complete recovery. Your guidance really made a difference!
Great video I have struggled with this issue for months on end, is the N20 and N55 pump the same? Mine is an N55 and would you recommend doing an engine flush when changing the oil?
Hey, first of all great video. Currently im facing the same issue. The engine dies when I try to start it when its warm. (And also smell fuel vapor) You mentioned that its testable by blocking the pcv feedline into the intake system. Can you describe that more in detail? Sadly they are no real videos how to TEST a HPFP. (video idea) Asaif in ISTA they are methods to read out the fuel pressure values. (Check if the fuel presure decreases when engine is off -> fuel is leaking somewhere)
Hey, well you need a scanner to read short and long term fuel trims. But smelling fuel on the oil cap and removing pipe to intake manifold and smelling fuel there. Especially when hot is a definite indicator that the HPFP is leaking fuel in to the engine. So the thick pipe off the valve cover to turbo inlet needs blocked some how. Also note watch pine hallow auto diagnostics. Has a video on the that code it is more detailed. Highly recommended checking it out.
What exactly are the fuel trims supposed to be reading on these N20 motors? I have an X1 and the only code I'm getting is a Power Management standby current violation, whatever that is? And seems to me that the motor on the bottom of the trim of the cylinder head is getting real hot, however it's right above the turbocharger manifold but seems like it's getting hotter than believe it should get but not sure. I'm not getting any codes but haven't driven it very far since the rebuild and wasn't wanting to blow the motor up or something and have to rebuild everything again.
Fuel trims long and short term should add between -10 and +10 as close to 0 as possible. Ex long term is +10 and short her is -10 that would be 0 total fuel trim.
Hi, my car needs an engine replacement. 2011 335ix E90 AWD n55 ,,, I have a complete car engine with a gearbox, a 2011 F10 535i, an N55 engine. I noticed that the engine is almost the same, but the gearbox is a little different. What do I do to make this engine work on my car? Do I just need to install it and I do not need to do anything, or do I have to modify it? Some things to work with, thank you
