A owners review of my factory lowered BMW R1250 GS Adventure . just my thought on the bike . #bmwmotorrad #bmwr1250gsadventure #smallchannelmafia #bmwgs #motorcycle
Couldn’t agree more. I have a factory lowered standard GS rallye and it’s easily the best bike I’ve ever ridden. It takes a little getting used to but once you’ve mastered it, nothing else so far comes close. All day comfort, visibility and performance. They’re number one for a reason.
I have the same for about 4 weeks now, Absolutely love it - can’t walk away from it without looking back. At 5’9 and 30-31” inseam, the regular suspension was just not going to work, especially with fully loaded bags, a passenger, and maybe a stop on an off camber road. I don’t feel like I’m missing anything with the low suspension and it’s still a pretty tall bike. I’ve only added a Lone Rider headlight guard and Touratech kick stand foot print so far - you’ve got a lot of what I need. I see the ring - you didn’t mention the tank bag. Wish I could sell everything (except the GSA) and move to the UK - I really enjoy the riding several of you guys put up.
I’ve had my gsa triple black for 5 weeks from Preston. By far the best all rounder I’ve owned. Your idea’s of after market accessories, are excellent, I need to go shopping! Keep up the good work with the Vlogs, thanks!
1.) Andy that was awesome. You have a fantastic way of explaining things to people, and you're right, low suspension and your inseam made that look absolutely doable all day, no issues. 2.) That's probably the prettiest GSA I've ever seen. Seriously. Triple black is the way to go.
Just be aware that you have to take the exhaust off when removing the rear tire! I stuck with the stock exhaust because of that! Also, once out of warranty, DIY maintenance is easy and surprisingly quite economical. Enjoy the bike- great video!
Stonkin review there Andy very informative and this bike has to be top of the tree with a price to match but ya get one hell of a lot of bike . I do agree about those indicators ,yes they should just be indicators really well put together mate ! as ever in fact cheers : )
Excellent review . Some tasty mods I went for Lone Rider soft luggage 👍🏻 for the reason they’ll go back into shape after any knocks or bangs . NB not that I intend taking £20k + off road but even a car park drop can ruin the rest of your ride . HTR 🍻
Got mine a couple of weeks ago, triple black & lowered. What a machine. On another level from my 2010 GS1200 that was one of my all time favorites. Looking forward to a fun time w the new one. Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down..or the triple black side up in our case.. 😂
Hi Andy, as the others have already said...you did a great job, well done. The Triple Black does indeed look lovely when its clean and shiny and with the matching side & top box set, it does look nice. I do agree about the indicators you are right… they are terrible from the perspective of a vehicle following, most road users just can’t see the indicators flashing while your braking, and in bright sunshine it gets worse. Nice to see you mentioned my long - short press tip for the heated elements “Smile”. Well done Andy and keep them coming. Enjoy the Easter Weekend with your family, best wishes Carl ( PS: my younger years were spent in the Brecon Beacons...)
Thanks for watching and wales is a stunning part of our country..we are of to Scotland in June so hopefully get some dry days lol..you enjoy your weekend to mate and I look forward to some more video's on your channel.
Nice review Andy, I've got same problem as you , most of the big adventure bikes are so bloody tall , I'd need too drop out of a tree to get on it , I've had lots of bikes including gs adventure the 1200 , my new bike is the bmw r1250gs triple black but the normal one, it in getting ceramic coating for protection as we speak ,I'm western Australian , a lot of the things you've done look good mate , as I said mate good review
Great review and walk round Andy. I agree with your comments, I have same model and a lot of the same mods. My most useful mod so far has been the crash bar protectors, I thought it was a bit overkill when buying them but was glad 2 days later when i lost the balance coming to a stop in a car park that was off camber, was my own fault, dont turn the bars and break at the same time slow speed, learned my lesson lol. Protector saved my shiny bars. Didn’t however save my embarrassment when I landed on my arse. Hope the weather stays nice mate and you have lots adventures this year. All the best.
@@AndyGSATractor its a cracking bike love it to death, but it knocked my confidence. i have recently got back into biking after many years away from it. i had a zx10r for years, never had a problem, had this 2 days and down lol. cant blame big bertha though, just need to get used to the weight. looking at getting some rapid training or equivalent to my local area. admired you doing that devils pass, maybe once i get more experience, be a cracking adventure in wales. Have you done the hardnot and series of other passes in wales?. Are you planning to do the famous pass when in scotland at applecross.
yes weather permitting i will be doing Applecross and hardnock on the way home ..i just sometimes i forget im always with a pillion and the mr's don't like height's lol..but i hope i have enough experience as iv done a lot of pass all over Europe. I sure your confidence will return with a little time ..ride safe mate
Nice review mate- watched before I took the plunge on my new GSA 40th, absolutely love it. Completely different from my ninja, but all in good ways! A mutual friend sent me here👍
thanks for watching ..i done a lot of searching when i was shopping for mine and theres was hardly any reviews on the lowered one ..so i done my own lol
@@AndyGSATractor I actually got the taller one as I’m blessed with long legs- but good review all round. BTW which indicator mount do you have? (For camera)
100% agree with your comments on the rear indicators but I also dislike the permanently on front indicators having had a couple of cars pull out on me at junctions, thinking i was signalling to turn in. I had mine switched off at the first service. not as simple a job as you'd think as it involves ordering a completely new software build from the factory which then takes the dealer about 5 hours to install. Unfortunately they don't yet have any way to change the rear setup.
Really great review of your bike Andy. I had a Versys 1000 before my MT10, a great bike if for me a little unexciting to ride. I keep looking at GS's. So many folks rate them but I've so far resisted joining the club. I don't need pillion capacity as Carol rides her own bike but I do find the MT10's 100 mile fuel range annoying on tour and at 35mpg it's thirsty
Amen on the backlit switchgear for night riding. Service intervals is another amen. Maybe they need to speak with Ducati engineers on that one. I’d even add a Denali Sound Bomb horn 200db, a real horn, to wake up those distracted cell phone using drivers, and a pair Denali D7 high 15k lumen LED driving lights to be seen. Denali also does LEDs kits anywhere you can put them. Back and side of Panniers, hand guards, you name it. Good job with all rest here. Now BMW will either improve or screw it up in 23. 🤞🏻 😂 Ride safe and ride often.
I’m 5’5” and been riding for almost 40 years and I can ride one sure but it’s not fun even for me with that much experience on bikes. I’m getting one of these new next year and I’m getting the lowered option with the low seat so I can almost touch flat footed for the first time in decades.
Hi, great review and a superbly kitted out bike. One question, it’s a TB TE, where are your option 719 mirrors? I was under the impression that all TB’s came with the option 719 mirrors.
When I brought the bike I had all bmw luggage I changed to a givi top box as I can fit 2x neo tec modular helmets in it and as I tour 2 up alot the extra capacity is great .
G'day Andy, enjoyed this vid. Very much thinking a lowered 1250 GSA would be just the thing for me. It's very hard to actually find any specs on them other than the normal GSA stuff that applies to both variants. I'm wondering what the ground clearance is ? And how close that might be to the GS. And the ride quality ? I'm 5'8 with a 30 inch inseam and a few months off 62 years old. I figure that it would be the last big bike I buy. I tend to keep my bikes for 10 yrs or so. I reckon in the long run a lowered would be a better option. I'm in Aus so a fair a bit of dirt road riding will be happening. That's really what I want it as, an all roads tourer. Cheers and enjoy your riding season.
I have 9 inches of ground clearance..thats plenty..about the same a the std .I think if I had a std high one it would spend more time on the floor than upright lol
Question mate……. Do you have a hard time putting your kickstand down when the bike is loaded down or just on the lowest setting? I have that problem. The bike does not lean far enough for me to get off.
std lowered version is gona be 800mm with seat set on low. with a 29 inside leg you will have no problem your the same as me 29/28 inch inside leg. you will have no problem with the lowered version.. mines about 820 ish mm with the heated seat and i have no problem on hi low or auto. hope this help ..go sit on one if you can.
Andy did you not have an Indian at one point ? If your who I think you are you used to be in my group that I ran a while back called Indian Motorcycle Nation, my name is Mark Muir, I remember you having bother the same way I did with my Scout Bobber, you changed back then to BMW & I changed to Suzuki shortly after you, unfortunately I was knocked off my bike 5 weeks ago, bike is a write off & I'm still in recovery, news is I'm getting a beemer too soon as I get my pay out from personal injury and insurance, good wee channel you've got going here and nice to see you still about....if it is you lol, take care buddy and hope to see you soon 👍
I’m 5’6” with a 28” inseam. I have a 2021 Africa Twin with the factory low seat on it. I can get the balls of my feet down, and I’m ok with that. The 1250 GS Adventure is my dream bike. I think with the low suspension and low seat, I’d be okay. Thanks for this video!
@@abhijithjayan5495 a freind of mine is 5.6 and is ok with seat on low and suspension on low ..if you have the low seat options as well I'd say yes..go see if a dealer has one
You want to get those pannier handles off, I bought them for mine, don't ask me why? there was absolutely no chance of me ever carrying my panniers or top box anywhere, all they'll do is scuff up the top of your panniers even with the rubber protectors on.
Thank you Andy. I'm 5'4" senior citizen and got this 1250 GS Adventure low suspension, this is my feedback - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g3EsJYjEhVg.html
@@AndyGSATractor 29" is only 736 mm. That's 100mm or the best part of 4" you're adrift and doesn't allow for the bend in your legs around the wide seat - just doesn't add up😎
@RetroBiker I'm 5.8 it's a low suspension bike heated seats when I sit on the bike I can have 3/4 of my foot down either side.i recon the bike sits down a good 20 to 30 mm when I'm on it ..what can I say works for me .They recon its 800mm when lowered buy its a bit higher with seat heating ..
@@RetroBikerGotta say (as a shorty too) with a standard GS, low seat I’ve also sat on the lowered with low seat and I still can’t fully flat foot. I think that the difference is rider weight affecting sag - I’m small and lightish at 79kg so there’s little extra sag when I jump on 🤷♂️
@@EnthusiasticDad well. I just think he's got his figures totally wrong. No way with a 840mm seat height. I've got my GS LOW seat height down to around 790mm and I can flat foot comfortably. Suspension in Auto when loaded and Min when solo,
