This is my first impressions of the 2021 BMW R1250GS with the factory lowered suspension. I am not a motor journalist so if you want lots of figures this is not for you. I am your average rider who happens to have a 29inch ( 74cms) inside leg and 5 feet 8 inches (1.73 metres) tall I used to have a 2019 standard height model but I just could not get comfortable with it. There are videos of why elsewhere on my channel. So join me for a ride to Murchison in New Zealand where I share my thoughts on this bike. Thanks for watching.

How are you getting on with the low suspension model? Quite a few are saying that they are having alot of issues which all seem to be related to the lower suspension models, both the damping and rebound is all off, bike unstable on less than perfect B roads, cornering is unstable ect, quite a few videos being uploaded about it, its the only thing thats putting me off buying a GSA as I would also need the lower version

Good video. Just letting you know that you can get the bumot boxes that fit directly to the standard gsa racks. Saves alot of issues

I loved the sceneries plus your actual ride review with your GS Rally version. I have been planning to purchase either the GS or the GSA but the I have to commit 1st what actual riding I will be doing going forward. You're absolutely right the ride comfort of the BMW compare to HD is totally different. I used to have an HD and I sold it and got the R18 totally night and day. I wish I can ride to New Zealand someday. 🙏🏻

Happy new year! I just came back from a ride, I have exactly the same bike (regular height, gold rims), since about a year. I am from Switzerland, it’s winter and it was cold but sunny, no issue with this bike, seat an grip heaters on. The best way to start the new year! I absolutely love this bike, and I am sure you will, too. Ride safe and have fun!

Curious in that you don't appear to ride off-road yet purchased a GS. Why not a RS instead?

Thanks for a great video, I am in same boat that you have (short) and have wanted an Adventure bike for years. I been waiting for the Pan America to come out “Which it has” but still not sold on it. BMW has alway been at the top of the list.. Let see what this new year brings.. Again thanks Dan Dallas Tx.

Thank you for the nice review and beautiful scenery good sir. Do you know how much the suspension travel is reduced from regular to low version of the GS? Standard GS Front Suspension Travel is 190 mm (7.5 inches) and i suspect low version is 170 mm (6.7 inches), but I haven’t been able to confirm that it is a 20 mm reduction (.8 inch). Do you find the ride quality reduced by the reduction in suspension travel?

That little tool box opposite the muffler on the left hand side looking from the back, make sure that the rear mudguard does not hit it when going over bumps. When it hits it feels like that the suspension is bottoming out. After a few good hits the top two mounts for the mudguard get ripped off.
