We're almost done! Send your wife to the store for more alcohol. You have another 20 minutes to go.

No. Would I suggest re-using these? No but I have not seen a failure in my shop. On the other hand, I have not re-used these often or had customers tell me that they have re-used this hardware. So, what does it all mean? If you can afford the new bolts... buy & use them. If not otr it is an impromptu dis-assembly / re-assembly... go for it and re-use them if needed. Thanks for the question. I hope that it helps someone in the future, Chris

Application of Staburags, Honda-Moly 60, or the lubricant of your choice on the clutch hub splines will often result in an excessive amount that gets slung onto the friction material and results in a fouled and slipping clutch. Thank you, Chris

Hi Chris, Love you videos which gives me the kind of confidence you just can't get from a manual. I'm down to the clutch plate inspection and wondered if there is an alternative to the "Clutch Alignment Tool"" as I'm working on a budget. I do have plenty of silicone! Many thanks.

Chris, you are always harping about copper antiseize but you didn`t use it to put on the cluth plate assembly?

Hey there Chris. My 89 K100RS is due for a clutch lube this coming winter. I didn't notice you saying to lube the female clutch splines... Is that necessary at all to do? And THANK YOU for putting these amazing service videos up on RU-vid for free, seriously.

Have you ever seen anyone get bitten by reusing the clutch pack screws/bolts, the 20mm hex nut, or the compression ring?

Hi Chris, thanks for these awesome videos! I dont know if you see this or not, but I ask this anyway. In the end of this episode you seem to suggest using copper anti-seize paste on the gearbox bolts? I came across a comment that saud not to use copper paste with aluminium and (stainless) steel bolts. Aluminium gets dissolved or corroded by electrolysis or something like that. What you think of this?

You are welcome, Mikko,, I've been using copper anti-seize since BMW ordered us to use it instead of nickel based anti-seize in 1999. I've worked on many of the same machines for the past 20+ years and I've yet to see any damage caused from copper anti-seize. I've seen a lot of damage from bare hardware that corroded over the years and exposure to salt air and winter use, however.

I was going to say there was enough silicone there to create two porn stars but I was too dumbfounded that someone would actually use silicone to hold the spring plate in place.

so every 30k or so you gotta spooge the spline... which consists of ripping half of the motorcycle to pieces and probably costs about what the bike is worth..?? i just purchased an 05 k1200 RS with 30 k on it. hope it doesn’t need a major service like that...

Yes, to the first part of the question and you won't like the answer to the other half. Yes and it is far more difficult and I do not expect to make a video of K1200RS transmission / clutch as I stopped working on K1200 models years ago. I wish you luck speed demon.

They are a nice machine if working properly. When they need things they really need a lot of things and nothing is cheap. Reliable, yes. You'll get 100,000 miles out of these usually. But they are heavy, ergonomics for a gorilla (long arms), sluggish handling compared to the previous model and a bit more difficult to work on. If everything works I'd run it into the ground or at least until you are sick of it or fall in love with it. Good luck, it could go either way. Take care, Chris

I just pulled my k75 transmission and the clutch rod stayed with the engine instead of coming out with the transmission like in your video. Should I be concerned?

+Chris Harris Thanks for the response. This morning I pulled my clutch pack out and the pressure plate hole that the clutch rod goes into is badly out of round. I realize I need a new pressure plate, but has something caused this that is more serious?
