I currently have a 2017 X3 Xdrive35i. In terms of aesthetics. I definitely much prefer the front looks of the second gen, but the interior of the 3rd generation is truly a piece of art

I prefer the old looks of the x3 (e83, f25) even in 2020! The old ones looking more rough and „off-roadie“. The new X-class lineup are too smooth and elegant.

IMO the front of the second gen which I have is better, but the interior in the third gen is remarkable.

I agree with everyone else, 2nd gen looks better, 3rd has a couple new interesting options...but just options....sad when you pay all that money BMW and the previous design is better

I didn’t like that beam across the front on which the license plate is mounted (older model). The new gen. got rid of that - good thing: looks a lot nicer. Same pb with the X5. That one is to be replaced by a new gen in sept. 2018. We’ll see how that’ll change.

I like the 2nd gen grill better; I have the 2nd GEN and its awesome...best all around commuter, speedster, dragster, off-roadster...there isn't anyplace i haven't dared to take it and it hasn't failed me in all these years. But i will admit i saw a 3rd GEN the other day and it was tempting... but again i like the style on mine.

When is BMW finally going to redesign their interiors? Been the same since 2012

I have a 2nd gen and looked to change for the new model........ besides the improvements to the interior the exterior has only slightly changed, not worth the upgrade. Unless you had them side by side most people would have trouble spotting the difference.

But you forgot to mention almost most important things which are new front suspension, greater body stiffness, new engines than the old generation etc... This video shows how modern customers are stupid and they don't focus on important things. Car is not lcd display, car is safety, consumption, reliability, comfort etc. I personally don't like exterior design because it is too Asian, I also don't like interior design because it is not comfortable and armrest is too high but overall car technically looks great if not the best in his segment.

This may be very last X3 to have easy switching light switch. Newer BMW models are coming out with bad push button light switch. New light switch redesign are horrible when switching lowbean --> marker --> lowbeam without taking eyes off road. With winter glove, new light switch is even worse to operate ; sun visors are also hard to get your finger into with gloves ; Scandinavian brands always get it right with visors. .

Awesome job on the new x3 previous gen was not a fan of at all.

I have a '19 X3 which is leased. It has spent almost 2 months at dealerships for repairs. Name part of the car and I can almost guarantee there has been an issue with it. The brakes keep warping under normal use, it blows through tires in less than 10k miles, the tailgate opens randomly on its own, Ive had all keys replaced, the collision avoidance system triggers unexpectedly and the full camera system has been replaced, the passenger seat kept alarming as if someone was in it, the idrive system has been crashing and has now been replaced, and lastly the driver seat frame somehow broke in 2 years of normal use. BMW build quality has gone way downhill and the lack of accountability is shameful. This car qualifies as a lemon and BMW offered $2000 to me but will not take the car back without litigation which will likely take longer than I have left on my lease.
