You should market this to the senior citizens. It's a great exercise program. It's very challenging.

Hi Matt, sorry to miss class. Spent 16 hours dog sitting, for my daughter and her husband today, when they traveled to the Caribbean. Will be helping them out until sat, so i won't be able to attend class, but will watch and practice later. Stay safe. Doug.

For me it all started with the Bo, and I learned it right from this channel. I like a lot of weapons, but the Bo is numba 1! I'm thinking Darth Maul is one of the best Bo wielders. Very fast, like a blender. As always, thank you Sensei. I'll be practicing the Bo this week.

Personaly my favorite weapons or better say tools are axes . 1 in left hand and another in right hand. But to Master such deadly things it takes time ... mostly because of deadly hits , and every single one attack with them means...game over. So if somebody will use such powerfull tools ... its far better with 2 hammers 4 - 5 kg max. They do same but oponent will live, and it makes huge statment ... almost nobody will ever try to attack you ... belive me from my life expirience !

Thanks for the video! Before we talk about other weapons, I have a question. What is the absolute longest Indian swinging club length that you would recommend if I am making another Indian swinging club for myself? There is not, nor has there ever been, anything about me that people see as "cool." I've just never been able to get there. However, to the extend that I have aspirations of cool, the staff fits what I see as cool. I've grown a moderately long, gray beard. I'm too fat to be Gandalf, but being Gandalf would be cool. By that, I mean I want to be the real Gandalf from Tolkien's books and not the fakes from the movies. To that end, I see the staff as cool. When I walk, I use my six foot long, inch-and-a-half diameter, hickory staff as a walking staff. In my spinning, I alternate between this staff and a five foot long staff of the same diameter and material. Wth my health issues, I could never sustain a long fight. If I have to defend myself, I have to do so quickly. That's another factor that keeps me from being cool. Even so, the big bo is my favorite weapon in that regard. If I'm allowed to pick something with a blade, I'll pick the espontoon of the Revolutionary Era would probably be my pick. Meriwether Lewis of the Lewis and Clark Expedition usually carried one of these on his travels during the expedition. Many infantry officers of the Revolutionary War carried these weapons that looked like what many people think of as a boar spear today. That association with the expedition makes this one my first choice. Others would be a saber, a Chinese pudao, a basket-hilted broadsword, a kukri, or one of those modern spear swords that looks like a pudao but with a straight, double-edged blade. Of these, the espontoon would probably be the easiest to learn to use effectively and the most effective if practiced far beyond the simplest ease of use training. To me, all of this gives the espontoon the "cool factor" among the bladed weapons. From a practical point of view, I practice strikes the most with my cane. In a real self-defense situation, I'm most likely to be carrying my cane. My best chance of defending myself is probably going to be a thrust with the cane and a strike with the cane using my left hand while my right hand draws something that is smaller, noisier, and even more effective than the cane. If the thrust and strike with the cane are enough that I don't have to use the other weapon, then I probably come out of the situation better anyway. Getting back to the bo, I'm getting a little better at making the pass in the forward figure 8 spin. I'm making some progress in making the pass in the reverse figure 8 spin, but that pass is far behind the other. My wrist roll with either hand going from inside to outside (clockwise in the right hand, counterclockwise in the left hand) is pretty good on some nights. My wrist roll with either hand going from outside to inside is occasionally not horrible. On other occasions, I can't do that roll at all. My flexibility is better than when I started, but I'm nowhere near being able to pass behind the back.
